501  Economy / Speculation / Re: Hong Kong lawmakers urge ban on bitcoin on: February 11, 2015, 12:45:18 PM
Look like bitcoin is going to die for the 43rd time!

Don't be too afraid for the ban, bitcoin doesn't really care about law makers.

Maybe someone implemented an huobi algo Grin

Addresses are always recorded in the blockchain, altough it is the RIPEMD-160 hash of the public address, not the SHA256 (if I'm correct)
- snip -

Actually, it's the RIPEMD-160 hash of the SHA256 hash of the public key that is stored in the blockchain.

Right, and now I try to remember it! Thanks for clearing it up. Wink

505  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help please on: February 08, 2015, 08:17:39 PM
I've just started looking at bitcoins recently and a lot of the info I'm trying to find is not easy to comprehend being a newbie. Could someone please help me answer a few of these questions (bare in mind I'm a complete newbie so don't fry me for my stupidity):

Don't worry, we've all been this stupid before Wink

Quote
When creating wallets I create multiple recipient addresses and get my coins. Can these address be deleted after my transaction history (same thing for sending)

Addresses are always recorded in the blockchain, altough it is the RIPEMD-160 hash of the public address, not the SHA256 (if I'm correct)

Quote
Do block chains record the recipient (and sender) addresses or does it record the wallet address when creating a block chain history

A wallet can contain multiple addresses, they do not all have to be in a transaction.

Quote
I'm looking at getting a free wallet online, will they record my transaction history (ie the addresses that have sent me the bitcoins and how many and the addresses I am sending to)

The blockchain always records all transactions, however, it's difficult to link them (all) to an identity.

Quote
What is the difference between creating lot's of different addresses and having a stealth address. Is it the same thing

I'm not sure about a stealh address, never heard of it before.

Quote
What's the easiest way to send someone bitcoins (with least transaction/mining fees)

Use relative old coins and a light wallet like multibit or android wallet. If your coins are old enough and the transaction high enough you don't pay a fee (but if you do, it's only cents)

Quote
Also, if I get bitcoins and trade for litecoins how will this keep my trading anonymous considering all the transactions point to my bank account

Trading litecoins for bitcoin does not make transaction to your bank account, nobody will know except the exchange.

506  Other / Politics & Society / Re: What is the big plan behind these Ebola/Measles scares? on: February 08, 2015, 08:07:24 PM
I agree it's one big lie.

I think 'they' try to scare everybody and try to keep them in a state of fear.
You know that you can control people much easier when they are afraid.
You don't want to have fearless and critical thinkers no do you? Wink
507  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Greece: Greenspan predicts exit from euro inevitable on: February 08, 2015, 08:04:59 PM
Quote
Mr Greenspan, chairman of the Federal Reserve from 1987 to 2006, said: "I believe [Greece] will eventually leave. I don't think it helps them or the rest of the eurozone - it is just a matter of time before everyone recognises that parting is the best strategy.

"The problem is that there there is no way that I can conceive of the euro of continuing, unless and until all of the members of eurozone become politically integrated - actually even just fiscally integrated won't do it."

more here : http://www.bbc.com/news/business-31249907

I think the Greece will never go out from the Europe, what do you think guys ?

I think we should not listen too much to mr greenspan.
He's just an old man making noise.

Also, I think Greece exiting from europe is possible. I actually hope they do. It will cause some stress and chaos, but the longer you postpone, the harder it gets.
508  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Chinese Government Official Believes Bitcoin Can Coexist with Government on: February 08, 2015, 07:57:12 PM
I see Bitcoin as becoming a major form of alternative currency, even though I don't believe it will be the leading cryptocurrency in the future.

You should define future.
I think you might be right, but it could take another 100 years.
509  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 07, 2015, 10:16:53 AM
Where are the rockets?
We definitely have had the bottom.
This is some panic short covering.
510  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price : still very pessimistic. on: February 05, 2015, 09:02:59 PM
looks like 2013  Shocked

Yes!  Shocked

This was then:

This is now:

Not exactly the same, but I'm glad I'm in Smiley
511  Economy / Economics / Re: Who control our bitcoins? WE do!! ☆ BANK RUN ☆ on: February 05, 2015, 07:04:10 PM
we are all waiting for decentralized exchange like open bazar, they should finish this year their job

We are all waiting for bitcoin to be global reserve currency so that we can abandon all exchanges.
By the time allts will also be proven worthless.
512  Economy / Economics / Re: number of transactions per day higher than ever on: February 05, 2015, 06:59:47 PM
ever since January, where we hit a low, the transactions per day have never been as high as they are now.

the number of unique addresses used is ~30% up from december 2013

miners are struggling making a profit with these prices (so difficulty is lagging behind)

why is the price lagging behind so much?

it has every reason to rise, and yet is doesn't.

Price is dependent on many many things, not only unique addresses.
Though, I think the price will rise soon, be patient.

I don't see how is price dependent on the number of transactions ?
Can't people just make a lot of dust transactions to fake the data ?

Yes they can, but they have to pay transaction costs to do so effectively
513  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 05, 2015, 04:10:51 PM
Gotta suck when someone throws down 15k btc and no one follows.  Now they can not buy back in lower. LOL

Still It's amazing how they waited until now and all dumped at once, although there's nothing going on in the bitcoin world. This was a perfect example of a dumper hoping to cause panic.

I don't know. I'm tempted to dump because we seem to be back in this negative down zone. $300 seems just as likely as $160, so dump now half your stash and you have a pretty good chance of making it back in a few days. It's Thursday after all, the weekend awaits.

Sounds good! Do it!
Tell us the result next week. Smiley
514  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 05, 2015, 03:58:24 PM
I think we'll see a pump within an hour.

it's a dump Sad

lol Smiley

i wish people had to place a bet and or show they had a trade riding on any claims / predictions posted

I wish the guy responded:

Still very pessimistic.

Do you think 220 is able to break?
I don't see it happen.
When it does, we're in serious trouble to the downside.
I see no problem to break 163 right "tomorrow".

Shall we bet that it won't happen?
It already bounced once since I said it.

On the other hand, 3 more hours left for him to 'win'

A warm, dark, moisty place where the sun never shines?

Sometimes I think these idiots are just pretending to be idiots because I can't believe such amount of stupidity could be authentic.

I think the MOFO is downplaying because he's late to the game and wants more cheap coins.

But when he really is that stupid, have mercy with him.

Well, isn't it legit concerns?

The fact that you have to wait 2 hours to receive money is pretty long.

Usually my stuff from china takes 3 weeks so I don't mind the 2 hours incidentally.

When sending internationally perhaps, but not when you buy groceries or whatever

Use a third (to be trusted) party for that. It will be built on top of the blockchain.

519  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: February 05, 2015, 01:40:37 PM

What a clown. He expects that a new kind of money that's still very early in development needs to have a stable price right out of the box lol. Just that alone shows he doesn't even have the slightest amount of common sense so forgive me if I don't value his opinion very highly.

Well, his sidebar says:
Quote
I have opinions about blah blah blah

You know what? Bitcoin doesn't give a f*** about his opinion.
Isn't it sweet? Smiley
