I see a scene across crypto around the world that is focused on profits.
That drive for profit seems to have little to do with which coins are deemed "adopted" or will be..

I think it's obvious users (the vast majority) are simply playing with what ever they think will give them profits vs being a supporter and investing in a project that has a future that includes mass adoption by the world.
I don't think anyone is going to argue with that assertion.

What is going to help adoption ?
Supporting it (adoption) or supporting anything that gives you profit ?

Get what i am driving at ?
Since i got here mid-2013 i witnessed Bitcoin shoot up to $50 a coin and the amount of users involved ballooned.
But.. what type of users are they ?

Are they users who are supporting crypto currency adoption or simply profiteers ?
I think it's obviously the later and i don't see that as a good thing either.
Who is left to further the cause ? Who cares ? Who takes action ?

For example..
We started out with ideology such as open source code and decentralization.
Those have long been shot & pissed on.. in the name of ROI's.

Let me highlight it for you all.
Countless crypto exchanges started doing a verification system and started complying with government requests.. such as Cryptsy or Poloniex or Coinbase.
Rather than rejecting this change in how this all works you all went along with it.

How so ? People who defend the problem with coins like Ripple or Ethereum say who cares ?

Authorities say they've charged a Florida man recorded on video sitting in the street eating pancakes.

A Lakeland police news release says Kiaron Thomas was charged Thursday with placing an obstruction in the roadway and disrupting the free flow of traffic. He was not arrested but issued an April 25 court date.

Police first received a call Tuesday morning about a man sitting in the crosswalk of a busy intersection. The caller said the man had a small TV tray in front of him and was eating what appeared to be pancakes. Officers responded, but the man had already left.

It seems some cybercriminals are channeling their inner Star Trek fanboy, as a new ransomware variant named after a character from the popular science fiction media franchise has recently been discovered.

Detected by Avast malware researcher Jakub Kroustek, the "Kirk" ransomware is written in Python. While it is not currently known how it is distributed, the ransomware is noted to be masquerading as an application called Low Orbital Ion Cannon, a network stress testing application. Once executed, Kirk will generate an AES password which will be used to encrypt a victim's files. This will subsequently be encrypted by an embedded RSA-4096 encryption key.

Next, a prompt will display stating "The LOIC is initializing for your system ... This may take some time." At this point, the Kirk ransomware is silently encrypting files. The malware reportedly affects 625 file types, including widely used ones like .mp3, .docx, .zip, .jpeg, and .wma, among many others. A ransom note will be dropped soon after this process is done.

Typical ransomware would usually ask for Bitcoins or MoneyPak as payment in order to unlock the files. However, the Kirk ransomware asks victims to pay in Monero, another secure crypto-currency like Bitcoin. For the first two days, it will ask for 50 Monero, which is equal to roughly $1265. It will double every few days, and if no payment is made by the 31st day, the decryption key gets permanently deleted, according to the ransom note.

Of course, with the ransomware being named after a Star Trek character, the cybercrooks went all the way and named the malware's decryptor "Spock." The criminals promise to send the software to the victim once the Monero payment has been made. As of the moment, there is no known way to decrypt files that have been affected by the Kirk ransomware for free.

There are still no known cases of anyone being affected by this ransomware. However, it still pays to be careful of our activities on the internet, to be able to lessen the chances of contracting such malware in the future.

It's been a LONG time coming but i have lost almost all interest in Altcoins (and even Bitcoin)
Don't be surprised if i end up wandering off at some point people.

The thing is i have stopped trading for profit probably 2 years ago roughly.
I also quit looking at the ANN section around the same time.
I quit paying attention to the tech behind coins too.

I wouldn't call this a farewell topic but in a way i'm already gone.
At this point how the world of Altcoins has evolved has left me behind.
(for example) The emergence of ICO's is not something i want any part of.

The days of new coins like Prime Coin or Grid Coin coming out seem to be gone.
Sure there is different coins out but i don't see them as pushing in the right direction.

So what's left for me in crypto ?
A whole lot of FUD and Altcoin history lessons for Noobs ?

But there is still more to be done. While the climate data may be safe for now, many other data sets out there could be lost, such as National Parks Service data on GPS boundaries and species tallies, Wired reported.

"Climate change data is just the tip of the iceberg," Eric Kansa, an anthropologist who manages archaeological data archiving for the nonprofit group Open Context, told Wired. "There are a huge number of other data sets being threatened [that are rich] with cultural, historical, sociological information."
