OpenCoin Inc gets 80 billion ripples. The founding developers get 20 billion ripples. There is a hard limit of 100 billion ripples. in other words, opencoin inc is comparable to the federal reserve. Go beg OpenCoin Inc for some ripples, you need them to even start using the service

You probably never heard of the BIS. But guess what.. Maybe we'd feel better about the BIS if it were more transparent, but most everything about it, including its bi-monthly member and board meetings, is shrouded in secrecy. And perhaps more worrisome is that the BIS is free from oversight. By rights granted under its agreement with the Swiss Federal Council, all of the bank's archives, documents and "any data media" are "inviolable at all times and in all places." Furthermore, officers and employees of BIS "enjoy immunity from criminal and administrative jurisdiction, save to the extent that such immunity is formally waived . . . even after such persons have ceased to be Officials of the Bank." Finally, no claims against BIS or its deposits may be enforced "without the prior agreement of the Bank."
In other words they can do whatever they want, without consequences. How's that for a leak-proof legal umbrella?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ECi6WJpbzEWith the US raising their debt ceiling, are we in a global bail-out bubble that will eventually burst? This doc offers a fresh insight into the greatest economic crisis of our age: the one still awaiting us. The financial storm that has rocked the world began brewing in the US when congress pushed the idea of home ownership for all, propping up those who couldn't make the down payments. When it all went wrong the government promised the biggest financial stimulus packages in history and gargantuan bailouts. But what crazed logic is that: propping up debt with more debt? "They're giving alcohol to a drunk: it just sets him up for a bigger hangover.

500 internal server on anything (getinfo, listtransactions, gettransaction, etc) with correct logins. Tested on multiple servers, guids, and other sites using the json-rpc API seems down too.

Bitcoin Gold, the only site of it's kind (after bitcoin gem shot itself in the foot by making them essentially satoshiDICE) may be for sale!
You will be able to earn significant amounts in fees depending on how high the top gem price is (it can easily be in the hundreds of BTCs, possibly thousands - there's a lot of high rollers in the bitcoin world), and you inherit the database / the bitcoin gold brand.
PM me your offers.

Bitcoin Gem shut down after the owner failed to sell it for 300 BTC. In Bitcoin Gold, buy the incredibly rare gold bar and be listed forever on the hall of fame! You can advertise your website, plus you'll get profit if someone else purchases the gold bar. And of course they will given how low the current price is The best thing is that the last purchaser will get the script for free, so you'll be able to run your own site. For more information, please visit the site. http://glados.cc/gold

Heard of bitcoin gem? It was a site where you purchased an ever-more-expensive gem. You'd get some profits after the next person purchases it, which is then paid to you. The owner shut it down after failing to sell the site for 300 BTC. Now, introducing Bitcoin Gold - buy the one of a kind gold bar that'll bring you *twice* the returns as bitcoin gem! Also, get advertising for your site as you can link a URL! Bitcoin GoldThe best thing is, if nobody else purchased after you for two weeks, you will receive the script for FREE so you can make your own gem site. For more detail, see the site

Problems: 1. Not compatible with the bitcoind JSON-RPC API. getaccountaddress(account) where account is a new one creates that account in bitcoind, in Blockchain.info it just returns an error. 2. Cryptic error messages. I am calling listrecievedbyaddress() and I get: "Array ( [error] => Array ( [message] => [c.ode] => -32603 ) [jsonrpc] => 2.0 ) " What is error -32603 3. Doesn't list transactions. For some reason, listtransactions() does not list my transactions, even through I can see it in blockchain.info..

Note: This is a ponzi, that's why it's in the gambling section. It's risky.EDIT: Check out Bitcoin Gold - get in early while you can, and if you get in late you can get the script behind it for free!Bitcoin gem takes the concept where you buy the gem for XX bitcoins (currently 78.76 btc). Then, the price of the gem will be raised to 86.64 btc, and you get 82.7 btc sent back. http://www.bitcoingem.com/index.phpThe higher the price is, the less likely people is going to buy in. The price is raised by 10% each round, and the higher the price is raised, the more profit there is (but it will collapse/halt in less rounds). It might be interesting to allow users to buy "shares" of the gem and pull together fractions of the price, so future rounds would require (i) more users and/or (ii) higher amounts. There's also the free advertising aspect, which might be worth it for smaller amounts and advertising bitcoin-related services (eg a new gambling game, etc). Also, the system requires 6 confirmations, which delays the time when a new round happens. Looking at the list of transactions, it seems that at this price point there are a lot of people that purchase quite soon after 6 confs.

Seems like blockchain.info is defaulting to anonymous payments (1.5% fee) if you don't specify it now.
Some notice would be nice

In the custom hardware form, one moderator has being forcibly changing the topic names to things like "In which xxx fails to understand yyy".
Few reasons why I'm against this:
1. It's confusing, especially when that mod edits without the edit showing up on the timestamp 2. It's putting words in other people's mouth 3. It's a micro form of public shaming for lack of knowledge / stupidity
Mod edits should clearly be marked as such, and they need to be objective (or reconsider people with mod powers that treats this forum as a playground).

I am selling paypal for Bitcoins. If you have some BTC and want to get paypal USD for them, send me a PM (you'll need to make a post first on this forum before PMing). I will do a maximum of $100 USD a month in total (to everyone). Current rate: 98% of mtgox last This is actually quite a good offer because it's quite hard to find trusted members that won't chargeback
