I've bought 15btc worth of XMR and will be buying another 20btc, the difference in price, DASH/XMR is killing me..

Now is the perfect time to show some support!

No, you are trolling lol. You hate XMR. Cheesy

Nice. Thanks. Upgraded

Is it because of SSD? The sync speed in my laptop (Dell Inspiron) is quite slow. I think that it should take a day to sync from scratch.

Yes, it is a miracle if XMR is listed at btc-e

Why do you think that they are wrong? What is your proposal?

but I favor a hard fork to 2 MB followed by a slow automatic increase of maybe 10% per year for say 10-20 years. Slow enough that if it looks to be running out beyond hardware improvements it can be rolled back with 1-2 year lead time for another fork.

Your proposal is still developer-centric (like BIP101) because it requires developer's decision on code change to enforce hard economic rules. It is still political because miners, merchants and end users can question if 10% increase is very conservative or not. If 10% increase is too low, Bitcoin may need another hard fork. Meanwhile hard forking is a complicated issue in Bitcoin community. I really think rolling hard fork in Monero is an important feature in the future.

PS: I am a big blocker, support hard fork (not conservative soft fork word-arounds) if needed to move Bitcoin's development forward

Someone dumped 15 btc, then 3BTC, then 5BTC. Quite a strange move

I have just re-synced from scratch the blockchain by new 0.9 release Win64 binaries. All things seem to be SUCCESS. Below I leave some number facts:

Total time to re-sync from scratch = 2h 25m
Maximum memory usage visible in standard Windows 7 task manager during re-sync = 60Mb
Overall Monero database files under c:\ProgramData\bitmonero = 7.6Gb

Simplewallet.exe have requested to import my wallet from old format - done instantly.

Note, 'refresh' command must be typed in simplewallet console to see up-to-date balance!

!!! MONERO DEVS CONGRATULATIONS !!!

I agree, the DEVS KICK ASS.

I have also just synced the blockchain from scratch using ver0.9 binaries released for Win64. All seems to be a SUCCESS for me as well.

Total time to re-sync from scratch = ~50mins

Very fast! Unfortunately, it does not work happen as such in my PC (Windows 7 64bit). It took me 2 hour sync-ing 128k block (out of ~900k block)

I have replaced Monero 0.9 beta files with the ones in the final release. Started bitmonerd.exe to sync block chain. After fully sync-ed for a while, Monero still occupied 1,300,000 - 1,600,000 K (1.2GB - 1.5GB RAM) for Working Set (shareable memory) and 56,000K (55 MB Privating Working Set)

So the new default directory to store block chain data in  is C:\ProgramData in Windows?

There is a problem with this build (called Beta 3). Beta 2 (build November 01) loads block chain at C:\Users\<user-name>\AppData\Roaming\bitmonero. Beta 3 loads block chain at C:\ProgramData\bitmonero

Happy new year everyone. Our developers have done very good jobs in 2015. Thanks you and best wishes for you.

I'm working on a cross-platform Monero GUI, codenamed Mono (esperanto for "Money"). It's essentially a Node.js app built with the Electron platform: http://electron.atom.io/

Nice Cheesy

You should look at the Sia wallet, which also uses Electron. You could build on that if you didn't already make significant progress:
https://github.com/NebulousLabs/Sia-UI

Also, will you be making your code open source? If you do, I'll be happy to contribute or sponsor.

Let us know how it goes!!

Very helpful. Thanks

Calling all graphic designers!

I'm working on a cross-platform Monero GUI, codenamed Mono (esperanto for "Money"). It's essentially a Node.js app built with the Electron platform: http://electron.atom.io/

I had an idea of a logo that incorporates the well-known Monero "M" design with the "Electron" atoms imposed on top, if anyone has the skills to make that look good I would love to incorporate it as an icon.

Development is still in the very early stages, so there is plenty of time if you are interested. Thanks!

Why did you choose Electron? Any idea why more mature NW.JS is not an option?
