Fuck CPU only coins. Fresh meat to botnets. Insecure network.

Diamond - DMD - top notch technology + under-priced at the moment

A computer that is equipped with relevant GPU to mine scrypt coins is much harder to find. A virus that utilizes GPU is much harder to write

> If anything, a botnet has a better chance to attack a scrypt coin than a CPU based coin.

CPU is too slow to become a problem with scrypt coins. Have you ever mined a scrypt coin using CPU?

I'm referring to mining using GPU; I understand that mining scrypt with CPU would be fruitless, even with 100K+ nodes.  A few notes; once a system is infected it's no more difficult to mine with CPU than it is to run a silent CMD with an infection package and mine using GPU (it's the same thing from the virus' perspective).  As far as finding suitable GPU zombies; that's not very difficult in today's market of directed infection.  Going after architecture firms, marketing companies, and AV outfits is a quick way to guarantee quality GPU's.  There is the common flaw of hitting nVidia machines, but with a large infection that wouldn't be a huge concern.

I said that: A computer that is equipped with relevant GPU to mine scrypt coins is much harder to find. Do you remember that cgminer does not work with on board GPU or every GPU on the market?

If you write such a virus, you may know that the effect will not be high. if you are a virus writer, you may find that it could add some KH/s to your mining rigs. It can not be used as an effective way to perform 51% attack. However, if you want to attack Quark, you will find that it is too easy for you. Every computer can be used to attack Quark. If someone want to control Quark with 51% attack, it is very serious.

Quark is vulnerable actually.

Quark network is very insecure because it is designed to be CPU only from the beginning. Quark becomes fresh meat to bot nets easily. Does such a cryptocurrency have a future? No

Diamond has some nice features that Quark will never have

+ Proof of Stake coin is more resilient to 51% attack. Since 51% hashpower is not enough to execute a 51% attack. The attackers must also have at least 51% stake. CPU only coin like is extremely vulnerable to 51% attack without using special hardware like ASIC. Bot nets are enough.
+ Transaction message: This is a must-have feature to integrate users' wallet with merchant payment gateway. Without it, Quark is just dump wallet. (EarthCoin has it too. Nice)
+ Fast but stable block generation: 60 seconds. Quark chooses 30 seconds which is very risky. Read the following explanation to see why: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=349198.0 and https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=227766.0 (StableCoin developer is really competent. I can not see it in Quark)

Quark design is flawed. No future for it.

Say no to Quark. Invest in DMD, the most undervalued PoS/PoW coin

714  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: EarthCoin at Cryptsy on: December 24, 2013, 12:42:46 PM
Can the premining owner of the coin not offer a bribe to get it on? Then he can dump it when the price is high.

If you don't feel safe with the coin, ignore it. Do not pay attention to it. It is yet another scrypt coin with a new approach to hard market cap, inflation and transaction message.

EarthCoin is qualified enough to be listed on Cryptsy

globalcoin.miners-pool.eu is once again having issues.

It appears the pool operators client is not in sync with the network, yet shares are being accepted with no block finds or payouts. This issue has been ongoing for at-least the past 7 hours.

I would advise switching pools to one with more competent administration such as glc.dedicatedpool.com

edit: seems miners-pool is back in sync and finding blocks, however previous shares for nearly a 24 hour period were not paid due to the issue.

Same issue again. 1h -> no block solved
717  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: *EarthCoin* EAC/BTC GOOGLE DOC Exchange *EarthCoin* on: December 24, 2013, 08:53:05 AM
@svojoe Why do you want to buy EAC if you don't think that its price can skyrocket. Well established coin price can not skyrocket right?
718  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: *EarthCoin* EAC/BTC GOOGLE DOC Exchange *EarthCoin* on: December 24, 2013, 05:40:01 AM
Successful trade:
20k EAC for $25.

No mining? What does it mean?  Huh
720  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [SKY] Skycoin Launch Announcement on: December 24, 2013, 01:56:10 AM
15 seconds per block is too fast. Do you take network latency, orphan block into account?
