701  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BitShares and Mastercoin - a comparison on: January 02, 2014, 05:36:44 PM
So what you're saying is that Invictus basically screwed their shareholders by only paying them 1% instead of the 20%(10 angels/10 protoshare owners) and got away with it by saying someone else launched this Memory Coin, when actually it was them all along?
No, they hired the guy to build and release protoshares. After that he was free to do his own stuff; including releasing some supposedly optimised miner with a PTS fee.

That guy had released the original memorycoin earlier which went nowhere. In the PTS ANN thread on the first page you can see people asking why he is releasing another coin without supporting the first, and he replied he was paid for this project. I believe the memorycoin 2.0 incorporating 1% to PTS was an attempt to make it interesting (but it will probably fail again).

I have transferred 740000 DOGEcoins to bter. It is over 3 days now. Funds are not credited in my account. Sent many support mails. No reply.

QQ Chat support sucks big time. They ignore after asking How may I help you!!! Looks like a BIG scam to me. Assistance needed on this issue on how to get my deposit back?

They just don't care to reply support mails. Never ever use BTER for trading!
BTC-e, Vircurex and coins-e are much better.

Are you serious? Shocked

They stole 12k PXCs from me, besides a lot of others coins.

I've found the Bitshare thing is quite wtf. They released cpu intensive protoshare coin, diff rose so damn quick that after a few days it's impossible to mine for small players, so coins are sieged by serious miners just like other coins, then a couple months later they released memory coin 2.0 that wtf benefits protoshare owners, a boring scrypt coin just to make protoshare more valuable, then they released anther wtf angelshare having the similar scheme as mastercoin exodus. Not totally that I missed the protoshare bus, but their coin distribution scheme seems to be way more evil than MSC's. Also I haven't heard they've done anything significant to the actual bitshare development.

As a small miner myself (a mining PC besides my laptop), I am delighted about PTS distribution. I saw the ANN topic here (a day before I think), and then at the start I downloaded on both and started mining. I used only 1 thread on laptop (for safety) but if I knew how quick it will succeed I would have gone full pelt and destroyed my laptop Grin

Anyways, I fail to see how mastercoin or nextcoin had a fairer distribution. Both asked for money at start, which for all we know may have been a scam (just wait an see a lot more donation based startups will crop up in the next few weeks). PTS on the other hand allowed me to mine on my own and then see if the project is good enough to continue.

I don't have Mastercoin or Next, coz I hardly have much BTC, and paying strangers over internet over promises was a big leap for me. If Invictus had a similar model I would have missed out on this too.

710  Economy / Speculation / Re: Indian Central Bank causes Largest Bitcoin Exchange Shutdown on: December 29, 2013, 04:50:02 AM
You know what gets me most ... greedy people hoping that poverty stricken countries will make them wealthy

That what riles me too. Nerds sitting behind their screens hoping people will hand over money and make them rich.

It was a good opportunity for them and had a good chance of succeeding.  Until their government screwed them yet again...  I have friends that live in India...

In the last thread, I couldn't bother replying as you were so out of touch with reality. I wrote you off as another know-it-all kid, but seeing as you have an Indian connection the ignorance is baffling.

The government didn't screw anything - go read up before commenting. RBI is actually doing a good job.

In fact, I am seriously considering going on a trip next fall on my own dime (hopefully funded by BTC) to reach out to women sold into prostitution in India and bring much needed funds for various other things to improve the quality of life.

Thats very heart warming - congrats and good luck, especially the issue you raised is a very sad one.

Why are we called "greedy" for wanting Indians to have the opportunity to have BTC?  It seems like a great opportunity for them, just as it is and has been for us too?

Thats your opinion, biased by your own holdings. You (and us all here) have a stake in BTC and so our opinions get coloured.

And while you may genuinely believe in a constant BTC rise and wish that poorer people also benefit from it, most on here shouting India is the next step have much more selfish motives. You may remember how threads coming up saying India will push Bitcoin now which coincidentally happened when the Chinese dream seemed to be over.

ITT: We learn why poor, crappy countries remain poor and crappy.  It's not an accident.
Wow, the hurt is strong in this one.

This is the same guy who had in a separate India thread was enthusiastic about India fuelling BTC rise based on 3-4 points, none of which was based on reality.

Message 'btc-e.com' here - I can see it is a hero member account and last active on 21st December. Guess he didn't log in over the weekend.

I am hoping the lack of response is due to it being weekend. You really should have had 2FA enabled.
714  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bter.com cannot withdraw currency/funds on: December 22, 2013, 01:50:56 PM
I tried a WDC partial withdrawl and it worked. I will list in detail what I did.

At first I got an error code DTC 1577 - xx-yy. Not knowing whether x or y or both is the missing amount, I bought up the sum. Then I tried again and again error code showed up (with the values mentioned slightly less). One of the posters had mentioned that withdrawl magically worked the next day so I thought maybe they need some time to 'refresh'

Early next day I contacted them through QQ. I got a response asking for account id and error code. I provided them those and then they stopped replying. Today I checked my account and saw DTC amounting to xx (the middle number) has been deducted from my account. I then tried a partial WDC withdrawl and it worked.

I would like to suggest against keeping funds on Bter. It is succeptible to MitM attacks; technically even bitcointalk is more secure.

Wait, but they do have 2FA - but there's a catch. Sometimes it gets disabled for no reason. It happened to me once and somebody went into account and used my funds to trade with himself and clean out my balance. I lost quite a lot of WDCs, FTCs and LTCs. When I complained to bter I received a very heart warming reply, 'Sorry for your loss' Roll Eyes

For some reason I seem to be on the receiving end of exchanges. Coins-E stole 12k PXCs, Bter lost me quite a big amount and even cryptsy misplaced 0.2 BTCs a few days back and now claim it is fixed. The exchange situation regarding alts is a joke.
715  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bter.com cannot withdraw currency/funds on: December 21, 2013, 03:59:38 PM
@sumantso try to contact staff on IRC channel.

What is the irc address?
I tried on qq. I managed to get QQ2 who asked for my account and the error code. But then left it hanging. Lets see if it gets resolved tomorrow.
716  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bter.com cannot withdraw currency/funds on: December 21, 2013, 05:06:22 AM
I actually tried the solution. I bought up DTC to the required amount but still shows the same error.
717  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: campbx phishing attack? on: December 20, 2013, 01:42:50 PM
Someone I know got this also. Did CampBX's email list get leaked?

I don't think its campx list. I received the mail too and I never went to that site.

Maybe they are mailing to BTCtalk list?
718  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bter.com cannot withdraw currency/funds on: December 20, 2013, 01:40:09 PM
Can we get somebody who can speak Chinese? I guess that is the only way to solve it.
719  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bter.com cannot withdraw currency/funds on: December 20, 2013, 11:17:12 AM
Getting the same error. Waiting for reply.

I just got a qq support message from them in chinese, the translation said that I have an account imbalance of almost 4000WDC.  I had not sold or withdrew anywhere near that amount at the time the error occurred.  So if I understand it right, they are freezing my balance because they managed to screw up their ledger sheet somehow.

So, they may have been hacked/screwed/scammed and we are paying the price.
Great.

Thats scary.
720  Economy / Speculation / Re: When Will India Explode? on: December 15, 2013, 07:11:53 AM

I think this is a potentially large missed opportunity, not just for India, but world travelers in general. Imagine a "BTC Exchange" (just like the money exchangers) at the airport...show up and get cash in local currency (with a tiny bit taken out for commission).  This would allow travelers to travel safely and not worry about getting robbed while falling asleep or something waiting for a connecting flight.

Never heard of travel cash card? It's exactly for such purposes.
It's not for microtransactions, because of the fees.

Not to mention you can step into any ATM with a VISA/Master Debit card and take out money with 2-3% fee.

'getting robbed' - yeah, coz anybody who lands in India has a higher chance of getting robbed than anywhere else Roll Eyes
