161  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: New to Bitcoin on: December 14, 2014, 02:29:47 PM
With the difficultly leveling out... there is a potential.

There isn't. Even if there are no new miners, there will still be newer, better hardware which will push the difficulty up.

As of now there is no way of telling if that new hardware will be released tomorrow, a month, 3 years from now.

First time in 22 months the difficulty went negative.

Althought it would seem it might be soon as people are claming .2Ghs/Watt chips are hitting the market.

There is bound to be, such is the nature of chip development. The hardware companies would try to increase their profit and the race continues.

Impulse continues, bear flag triggered.

Good good, got my money ready Smiley

Any estimate of target? Sub $200 was a typo, right?

164  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Hi All, Could use some advice before buying a home miner or more cloud mining on: December 12, 2014, 06:19:28 PM
So I have BFL 50gh/s at home mining away on some alt coins. Not really relevant besides I can configure I miner to point to a pool I want.

I have investments at GAW (trying to get out of, seriously terrible decision), CEX.io, Havelock Investments and Hashie.co

Mostly what I wanted to know is I seem to paying cloud mining companies more for electricity then I pay myself at home. 0.07 USD per KW/h. Also I would really like the ability to at least have some control over where my investment is farming and how.

I have about 500.00 USD to get a miner that generates more money then it costs and something that comes as a complete kit (w/o PSU is ok) and that I don't have to rewire any part of my apartment for. As I am not supposed to and dam sure don't want to.

Miners I was looking at, Hopefully you guys have good input for me.

Ideally I would love a scrypt miner to play with.

Ohh and 1 final thing, Something that isn't so loud my wife divorces me over it lol. But seriously. Ideally I would like to purchase it with BTC but I can just convert it to USD if needed.

Use that money to buy Bitcoins. Put them in cold storage and enjoy peace of mind.
They will remain super quiet too so the Mrs rtm will love it.
165  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: New to Bitcoin on: December 12, 2014, 06:16:11 PM
Thanks for the welcoming reply Sad

As you can see, I am new here, this is my first post, so how would I know what "this shit" is?

Sorry that you got a less than warm welcome. Its just that we are tired of repeating again and again that mining is a business which profits only the manufacturing companies.

Now if you want to do it as a hobby then by all means go ahead.
166  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Blockchain Scamming me on: December 12, 2014, 05:28:52 PM
Looks like your wallet was compromised locally, and it was outside of the Reused R value issue. Sadly, I think there is no recourse, but you should thoroughly scan your whole PC or better still format it clean. You should also change all the passwords in all your accounts.

The title of the thread is misleading too, change it.
167  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Cryptsy and Ripples - very high risk on: December 12, 2014, 05:21:27 PM
I very much doubt Cryptsy can handle the Ripple API properly. I believe they may actually be using somebody to manually process the deposits.
168  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Recovery program beginning in January for PB Mining customers. on: December 12, 2014, 05:20:13 PM
The surprising part to me is that they paid all the members of the signature campaign last month. It was a pretty penny to, and it could've been the ideal time for them to close shop and retire.
169  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Reused R values again on: December 12, 2014, 05:18:03 PM
Hello,

thanks for all the warm words.  I very much appreciated them.

I have to say, I already got a reasonable reward from bc.i.  Also many thanks to the satoshilabs people who offered me a new trezor (could be handy as a backup next time).  If you still want to donate I added one of my bitcoin addresses to the signature.  And if you ever need to store 267 BTC safely for a few days Cheesy, you can get a trezor here.

To answer some of the questions:

In principle, it should be safe to use blockchain again, but I still see some bad transactions.  The last occurred six hours ago. There are only very few now and the guess is that this is because of browser cache issues.  So clear your browser cache and reload the blockchain page.

If you generated a new address on blockchain in the night from Dec. 7/8 (UTC) before the bug was fixed, you should consider this as broken.
Even if it is not on my list.  The same holds for every address you sent money from during that period using the blockchain service.  If you accessed the website during that period, you may have gotten the buggy script in your browser cache, so you may still be affected if you later created a new address or sent money.  I'm not sure of the end of the time window.  The first buggy transaction occured Dec. 7 21:53:26 UTC.

If you lost money during the last days you can reclaim it by writing to the blockchain support.  They can see whether your claim is valid and will refund you.  That said, I'm not affiliated with blockchain.info  (I just returned them their money).

For the record, I used these addresses:

1HuqM18GMVaLxTRGdmSgytzVYnhRzu7U68
1L7gfUxCY5bDmzp1xA6CjA3qXZwsbzWGbG
1HdqdZudnV681xapavSJp3LqaCcJn12eSE
1EjXAe3WRqipdQdP5qeESjZRhxLVfe6cJ7
17TifxwuGSor7woQ64gL57KJzwPAjSf3Qa

the money to these addresses have been returned.

I see that there are several different 1xy... addresses related with this incident.  These are not mine.

I hope that all remaining issues will be resolved soon.

No, thank you. This could've been another black mark on Bitcoin to the people outside, but thanks to you it remained quiet, so much so even a lot on this forum is unaware.

Saying that I am now wary of Blockchain.info and probably will not trust it anymore.
170  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [Blockchain.info]lost $675 on: December 12, 2014, 05:15:47 PM
It seems like its part of the Reused R hack which happened a few days back. Blockchain is loaded so if they indeed messed up this time even after knowing that the addresses were compromised, they will pay back.

3.5 BTC is peanuts for them.
171  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Reused R values again on: December 10, 2014, 09:58:52 PM
Very honourable work there, johoe. Thanks from all Smiley

I take it that the reused-whatever bug is solved now? Or do we avoid blockchain for now?
172  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Cryptomine.io - SHA-256 & Scrypt Unlimited Mining Contracts on: December 08, 2014, 03:07:19 PM
I'm not sure what to say about other cloud services' mining rewards, but you must be aware that as bitcoin mining difficulty increases, profitability goes down, at the same pace.

Was there a difficulty increase? Last I heard it decreased.
173  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Cryptomine.io - SHA-256 & Scrypt Unlimited Mining Contracts on: December 06, 2014, 07:17:04 PM
I see this is turning into a wild witch hunt.
Please keep your tone decent and try to maintain insults to a minimum. We do not owe anyone any kind of explanation, as far as I know and information about myself and the management team will be made available in the future if we consider this would be beneficial to our service. We offer a clear service and for the moment this is more than enough.

Please stop wasting your breath and find another place to blow off steam.

I didn't see any indecent tone. People have been pretty polite. I inquired about profitability, somebody else was interested in investing. Whether you reveal or not is your business but keep in ind that you can get a lot of customers and trust if you reveal your identities.

Think of hiring some professional PR too, I sense you are getting quite agitated.
174  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Cryptomine.io - SHA-256 & Scrypt Unlimited Mining Contracts on: December 06, 2014, 07:11:01 PM
I'm not saying it isn't odd. But I trade on Btc-e, the shadiest place on Earth. I walk on the wild side

Btc-e is one of the most reliable exchanges out there. During Gox days there used to be co-ordinated DDoS attacks on exchanges which lead to price crashes, but Btc-e itself would keep running. I remember only one time it went down and that was for a few minutes.

But do you have any idea who runs the place?

The servers are in one country, the bank in another and its registered in a third. Decentralized exchanges is the style these days, but it already existed with Btc-e Tongue

I got to it a few weeks back. I forgot all about it so had to delete a few posts to get to it and then took a screenshot.
177  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Cloud Mining - Please help a newbie on: December 06, 2014, 03:58:31 PM
I always wanted to mine but never had enough resource. Over month, I have gathered around 0.11BTC from faucets and twitter giveaways, with which I want to buy hash power. The cheapest one I see around is offered by www.cloudmining.website, which is 0.001 BTC/GHs. But, before I invest, I'd like to know what people want to say about their experience about this service. As it seems, at current difficulty, I should reach ROI at 4 month. Please advise...

If you have only 0.11 BTC now, I suggest you keep it and don't invest in any cloud mining. You never know which one is legitimate and which may close anytime. Even if one is running successfully for months it is not given that it is not a ponzi.
178  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Hashie.co - Cloud Mining from 0.0012 BTC / GH | NEW: AMHash | FREE 10 GH on: December 06, 2014, 03:53:46 PM
I sold my miner because Im not happy with mining results. My 30ghs on Hashie mining only 20 000 satoshi in 24hours. When cloudminr.io mining nearly 100 000 satoshi in a week with 10ghs.

Profit through mining is a pipe dream now. Which makes it even more surprising the multitude of cloudmining companies that are starting up.
179  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Hashie.co - Cloud Mining from 0.0012 BTC / GH | NEW: AMHash | FREE 10 GH on: December 06, 2014, 03:50:48 PM
I'm a little bit disappointed that there is still no market for AMHash.

Asicminer has a good reputation, but that alone is not enough to carry AMHash if it continue to be so expensive. Looking at the rates it seems far wiser to just buy Bitcoins instead.

I would like to see a comprehensive list of the current available cloud mining options, their prices and expected RoI.

There used to be a thread which listed the cheapest option, but there has been so many new sites now.
