1  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: solomining probability calculator on: April 09, 2023, 01:42:03 PM
Only skimmed the thread. Was there anything wrong with solochance in the end?
2  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Solo-Bitcoin.com a community driven SOLO pool with 0% fee "Chip" based reward on: June 15, 2022, 07:47:39 PM
Very cool. Always good to see more projects like this!

I would strongly recommend the CK solo pool.
4  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: mining with CryptoTab vs USB miner vs old Antminer S1 on: May 13, 2022, 05:18:04 PM
I pay about 9 cent KW/hr, not sure about capacity... I have room left in my circuit breaker if thats what you mean. How do I find out about capacity?
I'm not looking for a big miner, as I understand they are usually very loud. My wife, doesn't want to deal with something that sounds like a shop vac constantly going off in the garage, especially as we have an 18 month old that takes naps during the day still.

I have bought some bitcoin already, and plan to buy some more, but the mining thing seems like a fun hobby to play around with a bit. My understanding is the USB miners are quiet but don't produce much sats. Do you have an idea how many I can expect to mine on a monthly basis with one?

If you want to accumulate bitcoin then just buy it on a regular basis. If you want fun with mining as a hobby, look into solo or lotto mining.
5  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Lottery Mining on: May 10, 2022, 06:49:48 PM
Is it even possible to lotto mine BTC on something like a newpac USB miner?  Just doing some rough math, it looks like it's more likely the Sun will explode before it finds a block.  So if not BTC, what other SHA-256 (that the newpac would be able to mine) would be worth lotto mining?

Simply put the answer is yes. You can indeed hit the BTC Lottery with a USB miner. I did it on CK's solo pool with a small USB miner farm running several GekkoScience Compaq F's and still can't believe it happened.

When I hit the odds based on my hashrate of 8.4TH/s they were like 1 block in every 423 years or something crazy. It was truly nothing short of miraculous. But as the saying goes if you don't play you can't win.

I'm still solo mining on both CK's and Kano's solo pools currently hoping that lightning can somehow strike twice.

I would recommend don't over investing into solo mining. Expect no return on your investment but keep hope alive that it can happen.

I didn't realise you was the one that hit the block. Congrats! Big BTCBTCBTC

It's amazing we still have small miners being products to be honest. Hopefully they will continue to get excess ASIC chips in the future.

Just a heads up solochance works again when you enter your CK address.

9  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Any solo mining sites that show odds still online? on: May 01, 2022, 07:37:20 PM
Hello All,
It appears that solochance.com which I used in the past has gone offline.

Are there any websites or calculators that show statistical odds of finding a block when solo mining that allow you to enter your hashpower?

Thanks in advance.

Solochance.com will be back up online soon. It's nice to know people were using it.

I used it all the time.

I can offer free hosting to you on my vps server if you like just let me know.

Thanks man, it's back for now but I'll keep your offer in mind if I have future issues. Any requests or comments please let me know in my thread here

The website is suspended for some reason, could you please check your host. It worked a few days ago.

I will get this fixed in the next few days. Sorry for the downtime!

Hey CK.

Trying to figure out how the format has changed on https://solo.ckpool.org:444/users/xxx as solochance.com is no longer working.

Can you advise.

Thanks.

Hello,

The page is no longer showing stats.  Maybe due to the server updates that were recently done?  Just wanted to let you know.  I use the site often.  Thanks.

Thanks for posting. Do you mean stats from ckpool? I just checked using manual entry and it worked.

Edit: Just checked someones address and it appears so. Will look into the update and see if I can fix it.
14  Economy / Economics / Re: Financial crisis 2.0 - What will happen to bitcoin in the next crisis? on: October 01, 2019, 02:46:40 PM
When the crash comes I think crypto is going to fall with it, people will sell assets to pay their mortgage bill regardless of type. However I think once it has settled, once big money starts buying up assets cheap, crypto is going to be one of them!
People do not pay their mortgages "no matter what", in 2008 there was tens of thousands of people who got kicked out of their houses, but when a crisis comes and the financial world collapses even if the banks seize all of the houses at the first sign, they still have to sell them and they usually sell them for far cheaper which means they will have to both wait and also not make all of the money back.

It is really not an easy task and proof that people sometimes do not pay their mortgages, so they may not sell their bitcoins if it is not even remotely close to their mortgage. Sure if they have to have their cars repaired or something they might sell but a guy who has 100k mortgage debt do not have 100k worth bitcoins, they either have zero because they are in debt or they have a very tiny amount.

If you lose your job and the only way to pay your mortgage bill is by selling assets, you're going to do it. Whether it's a second car, some ETF's or Bitcoin.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XRP] Ripple Speculation on: October 01, 2019, 02:40:01 PM
How deep we all think Christine Lagarde is associated with Ripple?

She has mentioned Ripple a few times and been seen with Brad Garlinghouse several times, and now there is mention of the IMF being at Ripple's Swell conference in a few weeks time.

Now she is moving to the ECB, I'm confident she will continue to carry favour for Ripple. Sometimes it just seems too good to be true!
I think that Ripple will provide services to many influential people on this planet. The ripple team has a very strong influence on all world markets.

That is the point that makes Ripple attractive to the fintech world but since the MoneyGram deal did not affect the XRP price thing have become unclear.

How much potential does Ripple have to influence the world market? The price needs to pick up and the price should not be affected by BTC even though it is the base rate. If XRP can hold its own away from BTC then it make inroads to replace Ethereum as number 2 by market capital.

XRP definitely needs to stand on its own feet and break away from the BTC swings. Moneygram have stated that Q4 the cross-boarder payments using xRapid should ramp up, and then Q1 there should be good volume. One can only hope it's enough utiliuty to actually boost the price of XRP!

17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is the future ?? on: September 27, 2019, 11:42:15 AM
I don't think bitcoin will die, but also I am not 100% sure it is the future. I think it will be used for large payments, it's a slow, heavy online gold. I think something else will be used for normal payments unless lightening is somehow amazing.

19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are IEO's bad? on: September 27, 2019, 10:26:30 AM
With an IEO you would like to think the exchange does some half decent diligence, which should mean they are less likely to be a scam compared to ICO's. Also as the exchange has their name loosely linked with the IEO, you would like to think they would choose projects with at least a reasonable business plan.

Basically IEO's are like ICO's but on average, should be safer.

Personally I'm not touching anything unless it blows my mind, which is highly unlikely.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Old Bounties VS New Bounties on: September 27, 2019, 10:23:09 AM
Don't gamble with your time. Stick to the reliable bounties, I've seen may new ones come and go and never pay out! More so, stick to bounties that have a long lasting business model.
