BiblePay is an interesting CPU Mining Only coin, just launched end of July, so its still very new
1542  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Masternodes on: December 26, 2017, 10:57:51 PM
Masternodes are awesome!

For instance, Bitcoin has been debating for over 3 years about how to scale and it has caused multiple forks and lots of stress,
DASH, the original masternode coin, had a vote and raised blocksize to 2MB, boom, done.

Understanding the Governance and Budget System
https://dashpay.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/DOC/pages/8585240/Understanding+the+Governance+and+Budget+System

DASH is really expensive to own a masternode now, it costs 1 million dollars to own one now.

If your interested in a newer masternode coin, you should check out BiblePay!
Was just launched July 23rd

BiblePay (BBP)
- 10% mined coins always go to Charity (already sponsoring 180+ Orphans monthly)
- ASIC-Resistant like Vertcoin/Groestlcoin (CPU Mining Only)
- fork of DASH (Masternode Governance Model, Budget Proposals & Voting)
- POBh Proof of BibleHash, All Nodes are Full Nodes

Do you have a graphics card (GPU) to mine or just a CPU?

I recommend BiblePay as a good beginner CPU coin to mine

SuperBlock: 24600 - Current Block: 22899 = 1,701 blocks to go = ~8.27 days till SuperBlock pays out

From what Rob mentioned earlier,
all proposals with 10% net Yes votes will move into budget phase in about ~5 days,
there will be another round of voting and then funding will lock-in in a day before superblock

Workers getting disconnected from the pool at a high rate the past 2 hours or so ... no HPS showing for those workers on the Worker List and they are not on the Leaderboard ... however

I can confirm. Everything is down to 1-3 shares.

Workers are still being disconnected from the pool, some have reconnected after 2 to 4 hours off, other workers are still not connected (although "getmininginfo" shows that they are.)  BBP production dropped by more than 50% within an hour.

I have restarted biblepayd for quite a few workers. Some of them connected to the pool quickly, others that were restarted are still waiting to connect (getmininginfo shows them connected). While working on the restarts and checking dropped workers, other workers were dropped.

At times during the past 6 hours between 10 and 20% of my miners were/are disconnected.  Most of the workers are running 1071, some still running 1069/1070 yet to be upgraded before the 23000 block. The drop issue has occurred to workers running each of those versions. In the past I've seen one or two workers drop their connection to the pool during the course of a day or two, but I haven't seen anything like this before. It seems to have improved a bit during the past hour.

I have the same problem. A few workers do not show up at the pool.

May I know if second pool minersofmen still operating? Pool wallet did not update for some days...
I e-mailed the owner over the last 10 days as we had the upgrades and have not heard back.  Alex said the funds are still in the account.
Me too, funds still in account. Maybe pool owner celebrates Christmas earlier  Grin
Yes... and this means we will need a new volunteer for a second pool soon, as we have over 150 new miners this week and we are reaching all time high activity on pool.biblepay.org.  This pool will be overloaded soon, most likely when we hit about 2000 concurrent users.
What would be the hardware requirements for setting up a pool?
Win 2012 r2 server, 4 processors, static IP, IIS 7, SQL Server 2016, 8 gig ram, 100 gig drive, anti-ddos enabled.
The vultr option is about $60 a month.

I assume the current pool is overloaded, it looks like we definitely need a 2nd pool to be built.

I this faucet paying? or not? I requested but not see any transaction in my wallet

Update on the faucet:

The faucet will eventually be back up.  I'm working on a rewrite for that.

In the mean time, if anyone wants to run a real faucet, please find one and compile it and run it and you can enter a proposal occasionally to refill the faucet with BBP from the PR or P2P budget.

Thanks.

Sorry about that, looks like Rob is currently rebuilding it

is there a way to track all the history of MN winners from the very beginning?
Dash has an excellent site for this purpose : https://www.dashninja.pl/
do we plan to have a similar service ?
Btw, Alex is working on everything the Dash Masternode has for Sanctuaries!

Awesome! What does this entail?

an interesting project, is algo asic and gpu resistant? are there any independent miners workers anywhere without wallets? hmmm

just calling your hash bible hash does not make the hash special ...
are y'all really claiming to use an original hash?
can anybody (smarter than me at understanding all this) verify that it is an entirely unique algorithm? thanks!

Ive been asked a similar question in another thread,
I know the White Paper and Source Code is what youd want to look at,
but I do not know enough about cryptocurrency algorithms to answer:

BiblePay White Paper: http://pool.biblepay.org/Docs/BiblePay_White_Paper.pdf

BiblePay Source Code: https://github.com/biblepay/biblepay

With my limited understanding BiblePay is ASIC Resistant with Proof of Biblehash Algorithm (POBh),
How could we go about verifying this through a 3rd party? Ive seen at least 3 people skeptical so far.

Why don't we offer a 250,000 BBP reward to hack it?  If one can port proof-of-biblehash to a GPU or an ASIC, and obtain a mining "edge" of more than 20% over a CPU, they win the 250,000 BBP reward.

EDIT: The proof-of-biblehash is unique, its the only one that uses the bible verses to create a hash.  Additionally, our blockhash is unique in the sense that Groestl has been ported to "biblepay.c", which is a transmuted algorithm (it no longer shares the seeds of groestl).

Love it! Great idea! What would be a good way to go about this?

===

I guess it depends on who digs into this, I assume some people out there have probably already tried to analyze the algorithm to break it.
If I were more blackhat vs whitehat, If I found an exploit, Id keep it to myself and take advantage of it.

(My limited understanding, not sure if its true, reminds me of one the mega Bitcoin mining companies,
that didnt want to update with SegWit because they had ASICBoost, which gave them 20% gains, I think they even patented it)

===

I remember reading about Monero's (XMR) bug/hack bounty:

https://hackerone.com/monero
https://github.com/monero-project/meta/blob/master/VULNERABILITY_RESPONSE_PROCESS.md

===

Ill make a Reddit post about this with some quick research and add it to TODO list and sidebar

Hello, I'm curious about this coin "Bible coin".
Is it for evangelism, charity or to sponsor missionary work?
How will this help promote the work of God in the crypto world?

10% of mined coins will always go to Charity,
We currently sponsor 180+ Orphans monthly through the Christian Charity Compassion International: https://www.compassion.com/

"When you sponsor a child, you’ll be personally connected with a boy or girl who will know your name and treasure the thought that you care.
Your support of $38 per month provides life-changing opportunities such as:
- an opportunity to attend or stay in school
- medical care, which often saves lives
- nourishing food
- mentoring and a safe environment through a local evangelical church
- and most important, opportunities to hear the gospel"

Anyone can be rewarded to write letters to Orphans:
https://www.reddit.com/r/BiblePay/comments/7647fc/please_remember_to_write_orphan_letters/

Anyone can be rewarded to read/watch/listen to Gospel Links (and can add their own!):
https://www.reddit.com/r/BiblePay/comments/7e9uho/gospel_link_rewards/

Rob (lead developer) plans to add more Gospel features:
https://www.reddit.com/r/BiblePay/comments/7du3kg/spreading_the_gospel_knowing_jesus/

There is a 2.5% P2P Budget that can be used for Pay to Preach / Pay to Priest
http://wiki.biblepay.org/Create_Sanctuary_2#BLOCK_REWARD_.26_EMISSION

There are Christian items for sale for BBP coins through the Pool's Ecommerce Store:

I think this is a neat idea, but not a fan of the 20% premine,

Why not use Masternode governance model?

Thanks Togo!

What was deadline to get into the current Dec budget for voting?

If you type "getgovernanceinfo" command, it will show block 24,600 as the superblock

We are currently on block 22,466, so we still have 2,134 blocks to go, assuming 7 minute block rate that is still 10.37 days away, which means night of January 2nd in U.S. time is when the budget will pay out to all proposals with 10% net Yes votes in descending order of most yes votes.

This is my current understanding, I might be wrong, anyone else who knows for sure please chime in!

I was able to vote yes on it, but not on your 2nd proposal or the masternodes.online proposal

The proposals appear to be propogating across the network again.  I think the newest version of watchman is fixing it (knock on wood).

So we should show 'gobject count'=11 or higher.

I was able to re-load my gobjects in two nodes by: deleting gov*.dat, rm mnc*.dat, rm mnpay*.dat, rm chainstate -R, rm blocks -R, and resyncing (after upgrading watchman).  This is if you are impatient.  I believe we should sync over night.

Another interesting thing you can do, if you are impatient is manually load the proposals back in (this is how Im resubmitting our proposals to the network):

616westwarmoth had fantastic advice on Backing up your Wallet: https://www.reddit.com/r/BiblePay/comments/7lksp4/backup_walletdat/
please everyone encrypt and backup your wallets, and dont forget the encryption password!

I'm not sure, but since BBP is partly based on bitcoin, there is a way in which the bitcoin qt-wallet works that doesn't give you 100% certainty that only making a wallet.dat backup once is enough on the long run.

See this explanation:
Preventing and Recovering from Change Address Disasters.
Incorrect use of Bitcoin change addresses account for many cases of loss or theft of funds. Here are some disaster scenarios and ways to avoid them.

1. Backup Failure Alice uses Bitcoin-Qt. Understanding the importance of backups, she created an encrypted wallet backup long ago and stored it in a safe place. After making dozens of transactions with Bitcoin-Qt, Alice’s hard drive crashed.
Alice bought a new hard drive and then re-installed Bitcoin-Qt on it. She then restored her wallet backup. To her horror, Alice discovered the restored wallet was empty.

Explanation: Alice generated enough change addresses to overflow the original pool of 100. On the 100th spending transaction, Bitcoin-Qt moved Alice’s change (which happend to be her entire balance) into an address not in the backup. Restoring the backup only restored empty addresses.

Recovery: Even if a hard drive can’t boot an operating system, individual files can still be recovered. Using data recovery tools, Alice may be able to salvage the Bitcoin-Qt wallet from the faulty hard drive, and with it her lost funds.
Prevention:

Count the number of manually-created addresses and spending transactions since your last backup. If this number is greater than about 80, back up again. Weekly backups might be enough for most users. Set a very high value (e.g., 10,000) for the -keypool option, either as a command line parameter, or in the bitcoin.conf file. Switch to a deterministic wallet.
