Quietly potential  Should I invest? I know of several other alt-coins that have similar or even less features, development and vision than BiblePay has, yet they trade at ten times its value. State of 'the' BiblePay (Development-wise) and Otherwise:
- J Guan merged in Chinese Translations
- Anton G merged in the "Hand of God" wallet theme <- This is a huge contribution. I spent last night tinting a few broken (non Hand of God, but general) icons that kept breaking the build, build is rebuilding now for testnet, so we should be able to take a look at this later today.
- MIP has created Biblepay Mobile for Android, and btw, we gave him an exchange e-mail for support (it will be in the Android play store). I would help test this but I dont have an Android. (I might be picking one up asap to help out). This is a huge contribution bringing us closer to unbanked services and cancer mining without any home PC for setup. And of course this allows the unbanked to transfer in and out of BTC without a PC.
- Licht has been working on biblepay-central proposals and making purepool honor the core wallet rules, and on the api. And working on the new mining guides.
- I've been working on Stratis blockchain sync. I've ported our version of Groestl into Stratis, and successfully hashed one block so far using X11 + biblepay.c in c#. This still needs a lot of work, as next I have to port the entire KJV bible into Stratis. Im also working on the Stratis UI.
- Nox enhancing our whitepaper.
- 616West is starting youtoube show.
- Luke and Togo going on Canary Cry radio
- T-Mike creating PODC forum
- Bhavani is creating Proposals in the core wallet. He is adding a QT5 Grid to show a list of active Proposals (ie those that need voted). He is going to make it so you can vote on a proposal in the wallet by right clicking the row, and seeing: Vote for, vote against, Chart proposal, View Proposal, etc. The Chart Proposal option will bring up a qt5-in-wallet pie chart with the current proposal voting statistics.
- CoinExchange.IO approved our exchange application and offered 50% discount (they want 2btc to list us). We told them we will wait for our treasurer (Jaap) to save up the remaining and then we will hold a vote.
- Biblepay Testnet Branch created! We now have a dedicated branch for our development team to push commits to. Dev team, please push commits to the 'test' branch. I am working on automated build process that will push the windows EXE for test automatically up to the download section (will work with Tom on exposing that).
- April, Togo, Jaap and Thomas have been working on enhancing the website! Ive heard nothing but good compliments on the content April and the team is contributing (IE basically establishing a professional presence, vs. not having a presence).
- Cameroon One is working with me on integrating IT wise- they are on-board! They are creating URLs for each child now, and will support our child communications outbound into Cameroon.
- I'm working on a financial proof of concept with quants for Q3 proof-of-concept for biblepay, for financial related feature(s)
- Jaap working on partnerships and acting as Exchange Treasurer

My concerns are: 1. Proven development team. Not sure we can conclude a development team is proven after less than six months. 2. Obvious use case. Any coin can be used for charity, and several have it as their main focus. I don't believe that a coin who's only use case is charity has much chance of wide spread adoption, and thus also will fail as a charity coin. Maybe togoshigekata can elaborate on this? Despite my above concerns, I believe it warrants a discussion about adding them to the list or not. Arguments have been made for all five criteria, and unless they are met by counter arguments, the coin should make it to the list. 6 months is to young to be added to the list.If this coin will be added there can be added dozens of coins and that wouldnt be the sense of the thread i think.
The sense is to make a list with the best coins.Real longterm projects,fair,with a real usecase.Not any coins that is a little better then the rest.There are to many out there..
I also think they should not be added, but they made arguments for all 5 criteria so it's fair to discuss it before dismissing them I think. I don't believe we can have any criteria for how old the coin should be to be accepted. Some coins go through a lot of development before they launch. But in this case I think they are to young to deserve the label proven. I base this on the age of the coin + one more argument that I did not make above; One of the arguments this is a proven team, was that the lead dev has 20 yours of coding experience. That is a good starting point of course, but does not make him a proven blockchain dev. We have several code monkeys in BitBay with a life long coding experience. They are very talented, but there is still a lot they don't know about blockchain. The reason that is not a problem in BitBay is that they have David to go to for guidance and code review. I don't see any experienced blockchain devs listed in the argument for BBP being proven team. Thank you for the responses! No problem, I just want to stress that I am all for further decentralization, I am just only against forcing an emergency on the IT department (IE if we promoted the creation of proposals by the command line, it would be up to me to write emergency code in the pool to handle that).
I think we will be able to write code in the near future to detect non-pool proposals and induct them (and check their timestamps and mark them as valid or invalid for the budget), but I just dont want to risk breaking the monthly superblock in the mean time before that feature is written and tested.
EDIT: And Togo, if this was an issue about the 2500 vs 5 bbp, I don't mind RAISING the fee in the core wallet. Maybe it would be a good idea to slate that in also, so that one cannot get around the fee. Thats something Ill look at in the near future at the same time.
Oh, my only concern is the centralization issue, other than that it was just exploratory/experimental to see if it was possible, tmike wanted to submit a proposal but didnt have the funds in his pool account, and I was like oh hey try out the commands and I did a little research for him, I didnt mean to cause any trouble though LOL, its not a high priority issue, but definitely something for the TODO list / roadmap later |
