261  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 06, 2013, 02:06:19 AM
So it is! I knew I'd learn something being here! Thanks for the pointer - it was so obvious, it was no surprise I missed it!
262  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 06, 2013, 01:39:40 AM
It is definitely not one person, but I am certain the vast majority is one person
(If the White, rather than Grey sum number on ClarkMoody denotes multiple sources, which I am 99.9% certain it does - as the $110 sum is white, rather than grey)

when the culprit has persuaded the market to go high enough for him to move it up more?

so I am now able to predict trends slightly better now

 Undecided

I don't mean I am a sudden mastermind and perfect trader, but I understand more where I have been going wrong. I know I have a hell of a long way to go - if ever - before I understand it.
265  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 05, 2013, 08:31:02 PM
Thanks!
Following things in this thread has given me a better insight into the overall market movements, so I am now able to predict trends slightly better now - but I think it'll take me a long time to perfect things - if I ever manage it.

EDIT: Oh, I am already prepared for those - I've had enough already XD
266  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 05, 2013, 08:25:50 PM
Well, I am aiming for 3% clear increase in BTC volume per day - it compounds quite quickly, without being TOO hard to achieve, but my last 3 buy-ins were literally *just* before hard market drops, so I have failed this week, completely - hence why I need a 120 peak, followed by a drop to around 110 to get a good outcome. (I'll still be around 7BTC short of this weekends target)
It hasn't stopped me fighting though!
267  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 05, 2013, 08:17:27 PM
That is basically my plan too. If it works, Sept 2nd will be the day I quit my job, with 1006 BTC providing a decent income.
Sadly, every day that goal seems to fall further and further away.

I AM determined though, and will continue with my goal.

EDIT: I'm investing in ASIC's too, to help me along.
268  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 05, 2013, 07:50:29 PM
I'd prefer it if they nudge the 120 wall first... I need to sell before I can buy.
269  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: May 05, 2013, 07:24:05 PM
The more volume we see around 120, the less we will ever again visit 100.

Unfortunately, I am short 2000 coins, and have no need for the dollars.

That's ironic, as I am short 2000 coins, and don't HAVE the dollars =/

I am aiming for them, slowly though. If only I'd stop buying in just as it drops. Tongue

Where can I see the sell orders?

http://bitcoin.clarkmoody.com/ has real time buy/sell orders listed, for up to 1000 lines.

The site does lag out sometimes though.

EDIT: Beaten to the punch.
271  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What's your Mhash/s? (Pissing contest here) on: May 05, 2013, 06:23:30 PM
Lol, I just checked the bitcoin calculator.  Ahahaahaaaa.

With a 1,000 mega hash rig it would take 8 years just to break even on a $2,000 computer.  At 1,000 mega hash I would mine .0499 coins per 24 hours.

What's the point?  Most people here are well under 1,000 mega hash so then you're not even finding 5 cents of 1 bitcoin.  Oh man, this is depressing.  Even with 2 BFL mining rigs (at 5GH each) it's hardly worth it.

Is it too late or is there a way to find other coins that will also go up in price later on?  TIA

The 5GH/s machine would pay for its self fairly quickly.
My GPU is generating 305MH/s and makes 0.05BTC every 5 days. The BFL 5GH/s machine is roughly 16.5 times as quick, so (at current difficulty) should make 0.825BTC every 5 days.

This means with one BTC being $115 today, and the machine being $275 - each one would pay for its self within 15 days - everything else on top of that is pure profit (minus electricity usage - but these things can be connected to a Raspberry Pi, if you are concerned about power)

This is why I have one on order too. (When mine arrives, and I know they are real, I will be ordering a 50GH/s model immediately.

The only issue is, that if you *just* ordered it - you won't get it until July at the earliest, and the difficulty will have increased by then, but you should still see a great benefit over your GPU rates.
272  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is mining still profitable? on: May 05, 2013, 02:55:58 PM
Everyone talks about how huge your electricity bill would be, but I have a real time monitor for my electricity usage, and it costs about £0.08 per hour to run my PC (with 2 monitors) at idle, and about £0.085 p/h to run it with GPU mining (Radeon 7850).
OK, my PC is on 24/7 anyway (I'm a torrentor), so for me, this power increase costs me about £3.24 extra per month, and gains me 0.05BTC per 5 days (.3BTC per month) - or £22 at todays exchange rate.
So if you have your PC on 24/7 anyway, then GPU mining with a decent mid-range Radeon is definitely worth it, but running it purely to mine, then not really, unless you have a really awesome GPU, or crossfire set up.

Well, the first couple of thousand dollars return will be banked for the next upgrade. I think it's worth re-investing in more machines - and I expect BFL would say that also Tongue
274  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How long until I can post outside the newbie area? on: May 05, 2013, 02:10:30 PM
Hmm, 5 hours 1 minute logged in (despite logging in over 10 hours ago - time moves slowly when you are a noob it seems) and 7 posts, and I'm still a Newbie Sad

EDIT: Famous last words \o/

276  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Butterflylabs Huge SCAM on: May 05, 2013, 02:07:46 PM
Well, when (if) it arrives, I will be putting orders for 50GH/s machines, but I am not willing to risk that sort of money, without a guaranteed return.
277  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is Newbie Status Really That Hard? on: May 05, 2013, 02:01:44 PM
Same here - I've been following the wall observer thread for weeks, but not commenting.

When I decided to say something, i found I couldn't. So now, this is my last spammy message before I can get down to some hard core economics...
I'M FREE!!!!

I hope my Jalapeno ships soon (I only ordered 1 month ago, so will have to wait a while, probably)
280  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What's your Mhash/s? (Pissing contest here) on: May 05, 2013, 01:40:14 PM
at the moment 305MH/s (Radeon HD 7850 OC) - but it'll jump up to 5.3GH/s when (if) my Jalapeno arrives.
