at the moment 305MH/s (Radeon HD 7850 OC) - but it'll jump up to 5.3GH/s when (if) my Jalapeno arrives.

According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

~1100MHash

Seriously?  1.1 Giga hash rates?  1,100,000 kilo hash rate?  Unless you're running 30 to 40 ATI 7970 cards you're not at even 1,000 fold less than what you're claiming.  And if you're running that many cards it means you've got 10-15 computers running 24/7 which means your burning close to $1,000 per month on electricity.  At some point just common sense should say - this hash rate just isn't possible.

Don't mean to be a jerk but this is ridiculous and you posted that after I already wrote a post Explaining the huge error everyone is making.

Good luck and lets work together to figure out the cheapest solution to get results.

Well, they're correct here. I did almost 2GH on one of my rigs before I shut it down. FYI, they're referring to bitcoin mining not litecoin.

What in the world?  So I took, my rig back and lost $300 for no reason?

Why would by dual 7850's get 500 kilo hash on litecoin where the difficulty is 480 while you guys are saying it can get 1,000 fold, 5 mega hashes in bitcoin mining?

Can someone explain how this is possible as mining coins uses the same type of algorhythms?

And can someone please explain and please be honest, how many bitcoins per day do you get if you can get 500 mega hashes, 1,000 mega (which equals 1 giga hash), and I'll stop there as I don't think more is possible with under a $2,000 new rig.

I didn't even try bitcoin mining cause I thought if I couldn't get but .37 of a litecoin then what were the odds of finding bitcoins where many more people are looking for them and the difficulty is infinitely higher.

I'm sorry and thanks for the corrections, from everybody.

Please, also list the most efficient bang for the buck computer build one can do, how many mega hashes you can expect and how many bitcoins per day or per week.  Thanks in advance.

One more thing guys.

I just ordered 2 5GH butterfly labs rigs for $308 a piece.  Are these a scam or why aren't more people here using them?  Is anyone here using those things and are they for real?  If so, at the current difficulty level how many bitcoins can one find in a week?  What about mining litecoin, devcoin, etc?

On the BFL site they on,y mention bitcoin and I just see bitcoins as an almost done deal and I'd rather focus in the next big thing which I think will be litecoin, namecoin and devcoin.

Thanks in advance once again guys!

HD6870 at 300mhs

Can you please share how many bitcoins you get per day or per week letting your rig run 24/7?

And you have one or dual 6870's?  Man, I had 2 7850's and took them back cause I was only getting 500 kilo hash on litecoin.  This sucks!

But hey, they forced me to keep windows 7 pro.  I got that out of the deal even though I don't need it.  Lol

1 Ghps here

Now are you getting 1 giga?  That's huge?  How many bitcoins are you finding if running it 24/7?  Thanks in advance.

the BFL miners can only mine BTC, they have only just started shipping them... no one know what numbers they are shipping at atm.

just google bitcoin profit calculator and put the hash rate etc and it ill work it out for you

Lol, I just checked the bitcoin calculator.  Ahahaahaaaa.

With a 1,000 mega hash rig it would take 8 years just to break even on a $2,000 computer.  At 1,000 mega hash I would mine .0499 coins per 24 hours.

What's the point?  Most people here are well under 1,000 mega hash so then you're not even finding 5 cents of 1 bitcoin.  Oh man, this is depressing.  Even with 2 BFL mining rigs (at 5GH each) it's hardly worth it.

Is it too late or is there a way to find other coins that will also go up in price later on?  TIA

The 5GH/s machine would pay for its self fairly quickly.
My GPU is generating 305MH/s and makes 0.05BTC every 5 days. The BFL 5GH/s machine is roughly 16.5 times as quick, so (at current difficulty) should make 0.825BTC every 5 days.

This means with one BTC being $115 today, and the machine being $275 - each one would pay for its self within 15 days - everything else on top of that is pure profit (minus electricity usage - but these things can be connected to a Raspberry Pi, if you are concerned about power)

This is why I have one on order too. (When mine arrives, and I know they are real, I will be ordering a 50GH/s model immediately.

The only issue is, that if you *just* ordered it - you won't get it until July at the earliest, and the difficulty will have increased by then, but you should still see a great benefit over your GPU rates.

research more before sinking any more money into mining.
even LTC so much harder to earn money vs 2 months ago with everyone mining it now. When i started i was supposed to get about 5 coins per day but today i only get about 2 or so (LTC)
not even bothering with BTC until there's easier access to ASIC
