Did I do it right?

Haven't received anything yet.

Signature placed on July, 30. Now it is September. Nothing received.
Simply remind him like you just did and if he doesn't answer simply PM him.

I already got paid!  Grin

Why would you fork it from bitcoin if you are considering using multiple hashing algorithms to help secure the coin? Might as well fork from Quark or Secure Coin.

Because we'd rather be a fork, than a fork of a fork of a fork.

That's the *actual* reason.

Bitcoin's codebase is more modern, anyway.

We could look at Freicoin.  Apparently the demmurage goes back to the foundation (which, in this case, would be us)

You're right Tsukene. Thanks for the tip Smiley

And regarding to the previous post, I don't want to do anything illegal. I just want some privacy.

Good.  Nothing to hide, but lots to protect.

2 shares towards founding (or add to if one already exists) a bounty for completion of the Devcoin animation/video.
...

I agree with weisoq that an animation or video for devcoin, like the bitcoin video, would be a good publicity medium.  I would be willing to write a couple thousand words to contribute to the bounty as well, if needed  Smiley.

Review of ‘Amazon gift cards for Devcoins’:
http://dvc4giftcards.us/home.html

Bought a $1 gift card with DVC. Very quick and straightforward, with a choice of card denominations. Great to see another enterprise utilising Devcoin as a means of payment. Process was as simple as selecting value required, entering name and email address (and whether gift card code is required via email or bitcointalk pm under ‘note to seller’) then transferring the sum of DVC to the address provided and waiting for confirmations to complete (6 confirmations).

A preliminary email was also received prior to sending DVC, which adds a sense of certainty about the process before finally committing.  I only have positive things to say about the portal and the process. Good work.

For his successful Amazon Gift Card Business, Smeagol gets 12 shares, plus another 3 for a non mining business.

For his post, Weisoq gets 2 shares. All of these bounties are in round 27:
https://raw.github.com/Unthinkingbit/charity/master/bounty_27.csv

To give more incentive for people to try out the business, I was going to sweeten the bounty for only the first post with two million devcoins. So I sent those to Weisoq. After I sent the devcoins to Weisoq, I realized that I sent roughly half as many as the bounty for actually making the business, which is much harder, so also I sent two million to Smeagol to balance everything.

Thank you, I got the devcoins!   Smiley

Are the physical bitcoins still being sold?  I heard of these a few years ago and I always seem them in stock photos in news stories about bitcoins but I've never seen one irl.
yep, casascius.com I think

Have you considered adding proof of stake to help further secure the network?
Also why not add in parabolic difficulty adjustments done on a per block basis coupled with a parabolic reward to stifle instant mining.

My family has an expression: "First get something that works, then get something that works well."

We have currently got nothing more than a bitcoin clone at the moment. We haven't even worked out how to change the block magic number yet.

When we get a testnet up and running, then we'll think about things like PoS.

This helped me a lot!

maybe you could ask "smoothie", he produced the physical Litecoins.

Is casascius still on the forums?  I might ask him too.

Whoot!  Another update!

Both $1 and $10 are on sale, selling with NO fees!  Just hop on over to http://dvc4giftcards.us/store.html, buy a gift card and write your 50 word review!
The $1 gift card is only about 27,000 DVC.  The share award last round was 210,000 DVC, and you must be thinking of a good way to spend it!

"Two shares for the first person who writes about a post at least 50 words long about buying the gift card from (the amazon gift card) business, and a one share award for the second person."

bump for buyers

One thing I've realised. All of the AES candidates are based around encryption from a key. If we go for a quark-style hash system, then if we are being secure, we need 14 different keys.

Something for donators to suggest?

Matthew:out

Are we doing the random hashing algos too? (like first sha, then whirlpool, then md5, then random, then random again)
1019  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [DVC]DevCoin - Official Thread - Moderated on: September 03, 2013, 08:23:04 PM
Update!

You can now buy a $10 gift card without any fees, directly with devcoin!  $1 gift cards are not available at the moment.

http://dvc4giftcards.us/store.html

If you want to receive the bounty for buying and writing a review, I suggest you do it now!
"Also 2 shares for the first person who writes about a post at least 50 words long about buying the gift card from each business, and a one share award for the second person."

A question to Unthinkingbit: Once somebody buys a card, does this count towards "Three shares for a devcoin non mining business" as well?

Thank you!

Can the length and first character or characters be changed in an altcoin address?
(E.g addresses such as 123345 could be generated)
