61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LISK] Lisk | ICO | Decentralized Application & Sidechain Platform on: March 24, 2016, 11:16:43 AM
I think the most important thing for a stable and truly decentralized system is that a lot of different types and people are involved. Not only devs. Not only marketing guys. Not only voters who vote for dapps supporter or only for guys that distribute all their earnings to their voters, etc... A system is the most stable if there participate a lot of different people from a lot of different backgrounds with different ideas and different motives/reasons to run a delegate node. And every voter should be allowed to vote for whom he thinks it is the most important aspect for him. And if there are different voters who vote with different aspects in mind, we'll get a network as decentralized and stable as possible.

I didn't run a delegate node until now. But I have a lot of knowledge in the cryptocurrency/IT/programming/Linux/Network/Tech-business and I read a lot about Lisk, Cryptsi, Bitshares, DPOS, etc... And I'm sure I'm capable to become a good DPOS delegate  Cool
I will try to provide a very stable, fast and up-to-date delegate node. I will write scripts to monitor and ensure the needed stability. I will update the node as soon as possible. I will provide info about my node. I will provide info about if and how I will share some of my profit. I will try to vote only for trustworthy other delegates and people I think they will help to ensure a stable network and a vivid developing, marketing and user community. I think every delegate node should be allowed to keep some profit for themselves. This private profit is the motivation to keep up a good node. Keeping up a good stable node and provide the service to ensure that is not for free. Some will keep more, others will distribute a bigger part. As long as I think the operator of this delegate adds something worthy to the Lisk world (that can simply be a very stable node, without distributing any profit) I will vote for him.

I hope you all will vote for people who you think add something valuable to the Lisk eco-system. The more heterogeneous this system is, the better.

And yes, of course I hope I'll get your vote!  Grin

What type of update frequency will you commit to if you are voted in as a delegate? It was annoying having to hunt down delegates for updates.
Delegates should post und update here:

Well, apparently when i threw my hat in the ring for delegate no one noticed. So Lets try again...

Hello Lisk World, I am the dj. Been here since page 2(don't think i posted till like page 10 though Tongue)
I'm asking for your delegate vote. In turn i will be profit sharing with the community and voters, donating to faucets and giveaways,
and donating toward bounties and marketing/public relations.
I will have my own rig setup 24/7 for lisk. Even my everyday rig is running 24/7, only downtime is for maintenance.
I believe lisk is going to overtake ETH in the long run, and i'm in for all of this.
I've always been one to speak softly but carry a big stick. Today that stick is LISK!
Let's make cryptocurrency great again!
A Vote for DJ is a Vote for the LISK community...
I will also be Voting for the top Delegates i see and will be much more active in this thread. Hello lisk family, the dj is home...

I was originally waiting until the Lisk launch to announce my delegate plans, but given the recent amount of discussion, I will do a pre-announcement now.

I will be seeking to run 3 delegates, all of which feature different forms of profit sharing with the voters.

  • A profit sharing delegate which makes payments of earned Lisk directly to votors
  • A dapp seed funding delegate in which voters receive shares in a fund which owns shares or tokens of the dapps it funds
  • A funding delegate for a dapp which is of such immense scale that it merits its own delegate, which also awards shares to its voters

The initial percentage I will keep will be the equivalent of 50% of one delegate, divided by the number of delegates voted into the top 101. If one of the three is voted into the top 101, my percentage is 50%, if two are voted in, my percentage is 25% of each, and for all three voted in the percentage will be 16.7% each.

As the value of Lisk changes in value denominated in gold, the percentage I retain will be adjusted, but never exceed the rates above. Any changes in the delegate reward structure from Lisk will also be factored into any rate changes.

The rate changes based on the change in value in Lisk will be adjusted so that when the value of the earnings quadruples, the percentage I retain will be cut in half. This way, the increases in earnings will be divided evenly between the voters and myself.

In the interim period until the voter profit sharing dapp (https://forum.lisk.io/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=27) or other software is availalbe, in the case of direct sharing of Lisk, I will hold the earnings in the delegate Lisk account for an initial distribution to voters based on their voting records stored on the Lisk Blockchain up to the time of the initial distribution. Succeeding distributions will be made on a regular cycle, most likely once every full forging round of the 101 Lisk Delegates.

I am keeping the names of the delegates quiet for now to try to avoid any would be name squatters from trying to register them first as delegates. Others planning to run delegates may want to consider this precaution as well.

I will also be offering services to set up and manage delegates for others. While the number of delegates is limited, setting up dapp clusters for the many different dapps which can be expected is a much larger potential market which will require a similar skill set.

Please keep me in mind for your votes, and I will reciprocate as well. Thanks.

Great, I support this initiative!

I have two remarks though:

Quote
when the value of the earnings quadruples, the percentage I retain will be cut in half. This way, the increases in earnings will be divided evenly between the voters and myself.
I don't get that. Why not always keeping 50% and distributing the other 50%?

Quote

Meaning every 17min? I think it is not worth to distribute the little you make every 17 minutes. I think it would be enough to distribute it every day or even every week?

And now that I got someone on the line Smiley , is there any chance of throwing up a primitive block explorer that does only two things: shows the LISK balance for an inputted LISK account, and shows the LISK balance for an inputted LISK public key? Thanks.

You can get the balance of an account with this api call:
/api/accounts/getBalance?address=address

Im completly noob with compurters

I'm not sure if a "completly noob with computers" should run a delegate node. Sorry, nothing personal Wink

Well... everyone can learn. Or not?
Im sure That cant be so difficult, but u guy could try to teach me and not to put me off. Nothing personal

Sure. Best way to learn something new is "Learning by Doing". Check here:

What do you guys think about if I would run two nodes, one at vultr/digitalocean, the other one on my raspberry 3 at home?
Do you think that is a good idea, because of the redundancy of two completely different setups, or do you think it would be "fraud" because one person runs two delegates (of course I'm very trustworthy  Tongue ) ?
74  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LISK] Lisk | ICO | Decentralized Application & Sidechain Platform on: March 23, 2016, 11:48:31 AM
So far I have following BCT forum people on my voting list:

PunkRock, Emerge, cannabanana, bigcabrito, nextgencrypto, cc001, bitseedmike, TheRedHawk, Splatters, Mrboot

Who else? Who wants my vote and will give me their vote?

I ran a Crypti node for $5/month at Vultr.com for many months and plan to start running a Lisk node next month, again at Vultr.

I will probably do the same. I also ordered a Raspberry Pi 3, not sure yet how my network stability and latency works out.

Is there any difference between Vultr.com and Digitalocean.com ?

Most important is that the delegate should use funds not for private usage would be a waste for the delegate (way of use)

I think the best way would be to split the revenue, for example 50:50 for private usage and community/network/voter-support. The private earning is the incentive to keep up the node and provide a good delegate service. If you don't "allow" private earnings, this incentive is gone and the people care less about providing a good delegate node.
76  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LISK] Lisk | ICO | Decentralized Application & Sidechain Platform on: March 23, 2016, 08:15:09 AM
I will vote for a delegate who splits the profit or a part of it with the people who vote for him/her.

Did the same at NXT.

Any takers. Cool

There's a great Dapp idea that does this. You would be able to control your delegate profits and share them to those who vote for you.

For now, if people were to do this, they would need to do it by hand.

I think it is possible to do it with a simple script using api calls until there exists a real dapp.

Please someone tell me what is delegate Node and what is votes? Same like masternodes? Any link? Delegate node can earn LISKs?

Thank you!

Jep, the delegate nodes maintain the network, they forge the blocks, similar to the miners in bitcoin, but without the hunger for resources.
Only the 101 highest voted nodes become active delegates.
