This is a PRE-ANN. Don't worry, a lot more info will be posted soon.

Has anybody been able to use p2p Pools while leasing their rigs? For the life of me I can't get it to work! It's stratum so it should work...just comes up Dead. Anybody else having this kind of issue?
M
Same issue. Using LRP by any chance?
I am indeed - is that what is causing the problem?

No idea, but it does seem to be the common denominator

I don't use LRP, and I have had many people rent my rigs out and hash at p2p's .

Seems LRP does not support getwork pools. Back to direct method for me I guess.

Just had a guy rent and is using hash harder - seems to be a p2p pool to me?!  http://www.hashharder.com/x11/summercoin

Not sure about hashharder, but  http://leaserig.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/1000041825-how-to-add-your-rig-to-leaserig-net-with-leaserigproxy

Very, very interesting.

Will this coin be able to distribute any document in the blockchain?

In other words, can you sell things through this coin's transaction system and leverage the distributed nature to serve it?

Like is this coin a cross between an altcoin and a market and bittorrent?

Yes, most especially if what you're delivering to someone is a digital license, certificate or any other proof of redemption that needs to be provably unique. You can sell things on the coin's transaction system, and then deliver a provably unique certificate containing any kind of data you want to anyone on the syscoin network. The functionality to tie certificates and offers together consists of probably about a dozen lines of code using whatever JSON-RPC api you might already be using to help automate your coin daemons.
Can you distribute say like a video file instead of a cert through this?
How big of a file can be sent through the blockchain?

You could, but the fees involved would properly mean it would be more beneficial to store magnet links.
We are still working out the fees and limits as part of the current testing.

I don't understand how is merge-mining work, where can find some detail?

From Charlie Lee, creator of Litecoin ( Example is Litecoin & DOGE ) :
Quote
Merged mining allows a miner to mine more than one coin at the same time. Merged mining only affect mining of the coin. It does not affect the amount of coins produced, the block times, the block rewards, the price of the coin, the usage of the coin, the community, or the development of the coin. Only miners would have to care about merged mining. Regular users would not need to know or care that their dogecoins were produced at the same time as litecoins.

First, the concept of mining is basically you keep hashing the block you are working on with a random nonce, until you get a hash that's smaller than a target value. The higher the mining difficulty, the lower the target is, so the longer you have to keep hashing to find a hash that small. Litecoin's difficulty is higher than that of Dogecoin, so for the same hashrate, you will find a dogecoin block (if mining dogecoins) sooner than a litecoin block (if mining litecoins) on average.

What merged mining does is it lets the miner mine on both blockchain at the same time. If the miner finds a hash lower than the Dogecoin target, then it can submit that block to the Dogecoin network as a valid block. And if it finds a hash lower than the Litecoin target, then it can submit that block to both networks and get rewarded for both blocks. This is because a hash lower than the Litecoin target is also lower than the Dogecoin target. So in essence, you get twice the reward for the same amount of work. The problem is if everyone switched to merge mining, then the difficulty will adjust accordingly. So you still get both LTC and DOGE, but you get about half the amount of each. So it all evens out in the end. The first people that switch to merged mining will get an initial bump in revenue, which will taper off when more and more people switch over.

We will post more in-depth details in due course.

And what about bad pools then?
I currently lease my rig out to a guy who had configured 3 pools. All of which was down and out for 4 solid hours. Got no replies to emails.
Your solution would mean I would be punished for leasing out my rig to a "bad" customer.

As I have said many times, let us set our own speed and then use the last 5 min avg hashrate is as the baseline that is used to compare the two.

so you're leaving kittehcoin (after all money people invested in it)
and making a new coin instead of implementing all that cool stuff on kittehcoin ?
very not nice

Please read the last 6-7 pages in the kittehcoin thread (which you yourself participated in).
All those points still stand, and I see no benefit in having to repeat them again, that is apart from stating these two simple facts:

  • We did not launch kittehcoin. MaxKeiser pump/dump happened before we relaunched.
  • To quote Dano
    Quote
implementing such tech within a memecoin like Kittehcoin would be silly- let's be honest. In that opportunity also lies the ability to launch a coin correctly from the start rather than picking up something and having to resuscitate it without having any part in its true inception.

any pool available to mine?

Not launched yet. TBA

what awards did dev team win?
15% premine is not 15% too steep?

http://cryptoawards.com/winners/
Best Developer for March 65% of the votes
KittehCoin (Meow). We relaunched KittehCoin.

Sadly there was just not enough community support behind it to continue, and since there was no premine we did not have enough funds to launch new services and features.
Which leads us into the Syscoin premine.

We will in the coming week/s give out a lot more details in relation to this.
So keep an eye on this thread and https://twitter.com/syscoin

What I've done when they don't set a backup pool and theirs goes down, is add one. Like you said, I try to pick a similar one, otherwise I just make the best choice I can, with the intent of offering them the profits from it. Fortunately in each of the two cases where this happened, their pools immediately came back up and it was a moot point.

Aye, created an account using his email, setup a worker for him and emailed him details. (same coin, but working pool).
Cant really do much more.

thanks for the reply

Rigs MUST be rated below their actual average hashing speed.  Your declared speed must be at least 1Kh/s below the 24 hour average hashing speed of the rig.
Miavator -- Why is this a requirement to lease a new rig?

If I want to rate my rig above or below actual, what difference does that make to you? You're already flagging rigs that are hashing "below" actual, so renters can see that and make their own decision on whether to that rig rent or not.

If you want to make sure that rigs are accurately rated on the site for some reason, I think the best approach would be to pull the rig owner rating off the site entirely. Just show actual hash speed and be done with it.

You want us to pull providers who don't accurately report speed?

I think you may be alone in that.

Dont know about that, I can think of one provider who consistently has a lot of low performing rigs. (Also seems to be doing pretty crap support from reading his rep thread)

Hmm what to do..
Renter put 3 pools up, all are dead for the last 4 hours. Not responding to emails.
Mining some new coin.
Leave him to it, or sign up for a pool and mine some coins for him (same coin as he is trying to mine).
Oh the dilemmas. I mean you want to provide a good experience, but its damn hard when none of his pools are working and he does not contact you back.

Old pattern all over again ... 1500 - 1200  ... 1500 - 1200 ...
There are two ways to gain the loss from buying @ 2400 ... one is wait forever and "hope" it will rise again and if then sell.
The other is, buy @ 1500 ... sell @ 1200 ... repeat this 4 times and then bail out without a loss.

So you mean to tell me I'll get rich by buying high, selling low?

Made me lol as well
