Short term investing is hard for most people and cannot be done by taking other people's advice. You can do your research and invest in some hot ICOs if holding one or two months through an ICO is short enough time period.

Market is doing just fine if you do not worry about small ups and downs. It will pick up steam over time so just hold on to your positions.

There are many good ICOs for May and June such as Quarkchain, Edenchain, World Wi-fi, HYCON and MVL that is in my signature. It is tough to get into high hyped ones like Quarkchain, Edenchain and many others.

Crypto market is very young at this stage and is more volatile than stock markets. Bitcoin is consolidating in the $9000 - $10000 range and once it breaks out above $10000, we will have a good rise in most cryptos. Do not worry about minor day to day ups and downs.

To decide an amount to invest depends  on individual personal finances and how much spare cash is there to invest. Going into debt to invest is not recommended. As crypto market grows bigger and coin values rise, $10K is not a big amount.

Going by similar reasons given by other posters in this thread, I am holding Cardano for the long term for its big potential. BCD is just another meaningless fork of bitcoin.

Bitcoin market cap will be one trillion dollars some day, whether that happens this year or next remains to be seen. Currently, crossing over $10000 seems to be the main hurdle for bitcoin.

This  predicted price level seems very high to be reached within this year so take this forecast with a pinch of salt. I think $5000 target in 2018 may be more realistic.

I agree with the poll results that Ethereum is not a bubble. With thousands of ICO projects on its platform, it has high utility and demand. It is still in its early growth phase.
The bubble may happen in coming years but market is not there yet.

Gold is still the most widely accepted universal store of value but it is not easy to transport or use for internet transactions. Bitcoin is designed to be similar to gold and is also suitable for modern digital commerce.

It is good to have both bitcoin and litecoin in your portfolio. Litecoin with its much smaller marketcap generally outperforms bitcoin handily.

This is hard to tell beforehand if 2018 is the year or will it be 2019/2020 for  mass blockchain adoption. We are moving closer to that steadily.

The entire crypto market is going up day after day and this is still the early stage of upmove that will heat up over summer. Ethereum will go to new highs sometime later this year.

I think Wanchain is going to do well. It is hyped a lot but there are always some reasons for the hype. Ian Ballina who has a great ICO picking history has it as his top pick for this year.

Hardly any signature campaign will accept newbies. However, there are  airdrops and telegram campaigns that may work and do not require any bitcointalk rank. Hard work but need to go through all those bounty announcements to find any that work for you.

Valuing by  marketcap  instead of only price is the correct way to go but plenty of novice investors do not bother with all that so that helps lower priced coins rise more than their true worth often.

Anything is possible in these markets so maybe ETH can do it. However, given that the supply of ETH is many times higher than BTC, the chances are low.

$3 is still another 8x from current price levels and market cap will be over $77 billion at that price.
Maybe possible by end of this year or sometime next year depending on how good the market performs.
