501  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Price of Iota and tron on: January 28, 2018, 09:02:10 AM
Hey guys,

I'm pretty new here on this forum. I have a question with regards to the user case of coins such as Iota and Tron. In some price speculations you see people saying that the price of Tron could reach 30 dollar and Iota 50.000. I am not that much interested whether it could be true/realistic so just assume it is.

What will happen to the user case of the coins if the value of the maximum devidable value is e.g. 30 dollar ? How would the system deal with the fact that if something would cost 5 dollar and the smallest amount to pay with is 30 dollar?

Thanks!

I really didn't hear of a token or a coin with maximum dividable value except those that require you to transfer a whole unit from exchange to the wallet without divisions.

Regarding IOTA and TRON value, nobody knows what's their final potential, but I can tell you what is more realistic to expect mid/long-term. If you look at the value and total distribution and compare to Ethereum (I always compare with Ethereum because Bitcoin is totally out of league) - Tron could increase it's value around 35 times, and Iota 17 times. However currently Iota seems more trusted and hence realistically expected to go there more soon, depending on the development of course.

IOTA at 50.000 is totally unrealistic. Since there are 2,8 billion IOTA there, it would meant that it's total market capitalization would be 140.000 billion. Current total market capitalization of all existing tokens and coins is 586 billion.
502  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Airdrops Are Everywhere...Still Catching Them? on: January 28, 2018, 08:53:13 AM
After a good initial start, there were not too many good airdrops in December. Now in January I found a few nice ones again.

It is not true that "the most of them require private key". Actually there were only a few phishing airdrops, and you should just avoid them. Nobody should ask you for your private key. It's called "private" for a reason. Actually most of them warn you not to enter your private key in the public key address bar.

The trick is to avoid spending too much time on filling forms and you can start by avoiding those without a good bitcointalk thread or at least a very good web page, then obvious phishing attacks, and those that ask you to react very quickly (just 100 participants.....). The latter are usually made just for pump and dump purposes and it is quite impossible to get them.

There are a few nice telegram chats and pages all around that you can use to keep track of airdrops without loosing too much time on searching yourself. If you want, I can post you some links here.

Airdrops are a legit way of distribution and many serious projects use them wisely, very often combining them with ICOs.

Smiley I Google zna šta tražimo.

505  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coins Symbols limitations on: January 27, 2018, 07:36:36 AM
It's just the abbreviation or a ticker symbol used for identification on the markets. Technically there are no limitations, but what would be the point of them being long? Imagine US dollar with abbreviation USdoll..... If you look at the list of all coins on coinmarketcap, some of the even have 5 letters. That is maybe already too long.

If any of those coins would have been currencies (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Currency) as well, then they would also have an ISO code (for dollar it is USD) which is a standard (norm) and since it is a standard it defines exactly how the code can look like - in this case it is to be comprised of three letters (at least I think).
506  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Monero on: January 27, 2018, 07:25:24 AM
I noticed that most of the top 15 coins/tokens had a period of stagnation when looking at the relative growth compared to others with exception of a short period of time when the coin went upwards. For Monero this happened during the period of last November and December when it rose up in value around 3,5 times. After that it went "stable" again.

If we take aside general trend for a moment and just look at it's scarceness and value compared to Ethereum, it has a room for self correction of 27,5x upwards. However, in order for it too accomplish at least some of this that, it should show some real development and adoption. The only "ace in the slave" that I see for Monero currently is unfortunately coming from the dark side. Since it's main focus is anonimity it could be accepted and used on the Darknet. Hence I am, despite it's potential, not very keen to support it, but for the speculative purposes it is very interesting. On the other hand, a lot of other, smaller coins, are as well.

Received airdrop and the coins are already worth something, listed on at least 4 exchanges. Well done!

Hm, one of the rare airdrop projects with their own wallet that keeps promises and is alive for many months already. You got me more interested, sound promising.

510  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stay away from any MLM based on crypto. on: January 26, 2018, 09:38:06 AM
MLM very dangerous to join in crypto world, bassicaly dont even get involve with this kind of investment. Every MLM is ponzi scheme where money from previous member use to get paid for new comer. If you reall want to make profit go trading instead or if you not really good or have any experience with it just buy some mining rig and go mining some cryptocurrency.

They are not all ponzi schemes as a basic principle of MLM is to receive some fees from your business partners for bringing new clients and from that fee some percentage is to be reserved for the people above you in the pyramid.... In Crypto world many legit projects use something similar called referrals.

However, as it is unfortunately the rule for a human race, we find a way to spoil everything and hence since Ponzi scheme is basically also pyramidal in structure, many people use MLM for various ponzi schemes, it is easy.....

Hence they are not necessarily bad, but yes - to be avoided in crypto as security is generally very bad even without them.
511  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH v NEO on: January 26, 2018, 09:22:28 AM
I read there will be a big Neo conference called Dev Con held in San Francisco on 30th and 31s of January. It will feature a lot of important names from the crypto industry, 2 professors from Stanford etc. You can find the info and the program here: http://devcon.neo.org/. With that many inside-industry persons in the same room at the same time some interesting discussions and announcements can be expected. I believe we have to stay tuned and see where NEO will go from there.
512  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coins under $0.10? on: January 25, 2018, 01:56:42 PM
eXRN
Rebellious, but just passed the designated mark Smiley
eGAS
eREAL
ERC20
POW
CRTM
10MT

All those already showed some resillience and development.
513  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: January 25, 2018, 01:51:51 PM
I totally support the idea. It will reduce hidden spamming (people sending posts to the discussion threads where everything was already said just to build up their post count).
But I also totally agree with this user:

I already don't like the way clicking on +merit takes you away from the thread.  Can you please have it open in a new window?

Less clicking forwards and backwards = more adoption.
I would also like to have the possibility to see who gave me a merit and for which post. This way I would also be able to self-correct in the terms of quality.
514  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Novi rankup sistem foruma on: January 25, 2018, 01:45:09 PM

515  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Dividing the airdrop and ICO announcement into forum sections - discussion on: January 25, 2018, 01:37:09 PM
What do you think, now that also NEP5 ICO's and announcements are coming, more ERC20 are to be expected, Waves coins as well, probably some other platforms too....
would it make sense to divide the section "announcements" into ICO section, airdrops section, bounties, with subdivision to NEP, ERC, separate projects, other?

I know this forum is called "Bitcoin"talk, but maybe the time has come to get some order into the "altcoins" section mess?
Maybe Ethereum has earned it's own subforum by now.....

I apologize to the Bitcointalk moderators if it is not up to me to pose this kind of a question.
516  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you trust XLM stellar lumens? on: January 25, 2018, 01:26:59 PM
Being practically the same thing, let's just say I trust it more then Ripple. Not any crypto is to be fully trusted as cryptos yet have to show their true usability, but both are developing platforms and since Ripple is centralised and has this "neck to neck" approach with banks it doesn't provide much trust to me.

Stellar is also, when you compare it's current value and potential of growth, more undervalued then Ripple (if any crypto can be called "undervalued".... but that is another story).

Hence, I would rather invest in Stellar because I like to support this kind of projects more (decentralised) and because it has more mid-term speculating potential.
However, if I was playing it safe, Ripple is being tested worldwide as we speak, and in more traditional sense it is more safe, more easy to be trusted.

I hope I managed to answer your question through this little digression.
517  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH v NEO on: January 25, 2018, 01:18:25 PM
Both present tokens, shares in a project/platform that are designed to offer protocols for developing coins (ERC20 vs. NEP5) and smart contracts.

I am not a technical guy, but from what I read seems that both are working fine and offer fine tools for developers and their promoters have a great sense for marketing. Hence in order to analyse which one is better it comes down to the adoption, how much is each of them used and the quality of the projects built on this protocol.

Currently there are many projects built on Ethereum platform, a massive inflow of new ERC20 coins every day, exchanges working solely on ERC20, metamask protocol for direct communication with Ethereum network etc. The only downside is that most of the ERC20 coins are barely shitcoins that are dissipating the attention, taking it from the more serious projects. But there are indeed some promising ERC20 coins out there - VIU, EOS, TenX, Ox....

There is not much on NEO platform. But there are many announcements for 2018.

Hence - which one is better? Technically - I don't know. Commercially, currently - Ethereum. Future hot prospect, especially for investments if done at a right time (which I believe is now) - NEO.

518  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Ripple solutions for fast and low cost payments vs. other tokens/coins on: January 25, 2018, 01:04:21 PM
Ripple is offering solutions for fast and low cost payments - xCurrent, xRapid, xVia. Latest news are that xRapid is being tested by two banks. Probably their test report, if positive, should increase support for this platform.

What is the current situation with other platforms and their similar solutions? Any ERC20 on Ethereum platform, Iota, NEP5 on NEO, others?
I haven't been able to fast track the current situation.

Since this is very important for large scale adoption of cryptocurrencies, this thread is also open for discussions.
519  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Long term vs. Short term on: January 25, 2018, 09:43:16 AM
Majority of porfolio held long term. Some minority if you like to "play the game" short term for speculating with high returns in short time which is harder to do properly and very risky, but if you are not risking too much it can be fun. If you are "playing the game", just don't get "pot commited", ever. Try to be as cold as possible, respect the mathematics, drop out early, hold longer if you are already down and wait for the trend to reverse.
520  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I have to invest 550$, in which Coin(s) i should do? on: January 25, 2018, 09:39:07 AM
Ethereum, IOTA, NEO, eBITCOIN and some unknown / risky coin that can rise in value very quick and by high percentage. I suggest eXRN.

Percentages of each depend on your idea of dividing the portfolio into more and less risky investments. Ethereum, Iota & Neo are less risky. It's like traiditionally dividing the portfolio into stocks and bonds, bonds being less risky. Of course, with crypto everything is risky, but I think we can safely say they have a stable trend for the time being.
