601  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Ripple vs. Stellar on: January 05, 2018, 11:48:56 AM
I haven't found any topics discussing the corellation between Ripple and Stellar so I decided to open one.

Both of these coins are highly on the rise. Ripple is now sitting and number 2 right below Bitcoin. Stellar on the other hand is number 9.

They have similar technology and both seem to be fighting strongly for the approval of the financial sector although there are some fundamental differences in that vein.

From my experience, when there are two strong player in the new field fighting for the same thing - and that is to become an industry standard, only one will prevail (Netscape vs Internet Explorer, Intel vs. IBM, Blu-ray vs HD DVD....). Sometimes the other will remain with much smaller share of market, and sometimes it will go bankrupt, seize to exist, or be taken over by somebody else. In other instances some other players would join and they would share the market in equal way. Since this is the fight over what will be used as the future of all digital payments, and now we are talking about what will be supported/adopted by banks, I seriously doubt the latter will happen, at least in mid-term.

What are your opinions?
602  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Patience and Holding on: January 05, 2018, 11:29:43 AM
Patience and holding your nerves together are the key to basically anything in life. It takes strength and courage to go to sleep while others panic sell. It also takes strength and courage to invest in something that others currently don't see as a top thing. Almost all the people that are successful share one common thing - they have, or had, strength and courage.

It also takes patience. Everybody would like to get rich over night. But such things happen very rarely and it needs, even with great knowledge, an enormous amount of luck.

If you really want to invest into something then make a foundamental research https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basic_research and technical analysis https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Technical_analysis, and believe in it. Why invest into something you don't believe in? Then have patience with it. And hodling takes a special kind of patience. Somethimes it can take a really long time until the subject of investment recovers while you are constantly thinking you are missing something.

Most common sense approach would be to use a few guidlines and stick to them - just apply mathematical approach to everything, be cold while thinking, and think long term.
For example: Always look at the current value of the coin, it's supply, and how that correlates to the supply and value of Ethereum. Thus  make an assessment on how much the coin/token could rise in mid-term. The market is driving everything up like nuts, but for that need just focus on today.
Make a rule not to buy at all time highest value.
One of the rules could be to never sell when the value drops beneath the nominal investment.
Other rule would be to buy a coin only when it stabilizes between certain support and reistance values and only when it is close to support.

And then you stick to those rules - no matter what. Rapid change strategy can prove successful a few times, but it is not a good ground rule. What is your favourite successful sports team? Do they change strategy from game to game - yes a little bit to adopt to the opponent, but do they have some ground rules? Yes they have.
603  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which Altcoin Will Be Nr.2 and Nr. 3 After Bitcoin ? on: January 05, 2018, 11:06:55 AM
There is a wide and old speculation that Ethereum will surpass Bitcoin and that that would happen by the end of 2017. But however, since that speculation started, somewhere during last summer, Bitcoin has gone far away from Ethereum. Now Ripple has surpassed Ethereum in market capitalisation.

I personally think that Bitcoin will remain number one during 2018. Why? Because first of all I believe it will stay in front of Ethereum because it will enable smart contracts hence adopting one of the main Ethereum advantages. I also believe that the scalability problem of Bitcoin network could be solved during 2018. Finally, during 2018. many new users will enter the cryptocurrency (misnomer Smiley market and as always - they will mainly enter Bitcoin as they see it as a synonim for the whole market/industry.

However, I also do believe that some of the altcoins will become very strong and thus Bitcoin's percentage of market share will slowly, but surely, drop. At the end of 2018. we can recap and speculate about 2019., right now it is too early.
604  Local / Altcoins (Hrvatski) / Re: Etn wallet? on: January 05, 2018, 10:54:39 AM

605  Local / Altcoins (Hrvatski) / Re: Jedno kratko pitanje vezano za MyEtherWallet on: January 05, 2018, 10:45:19 AM

606  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Top 2 altcoins to invest in NOW. on: January 05, 2018, 09:22:17 AM
My top picks would be eXRN and eBitcoin. They are still far from the top but are slowly rising and have a good team. They also have a low value which means they can make 10x or 100x jumps easily. Of course they are not the safe bet as top 15 coins, but depends what you are looking for. In any case research those two. They basically rose from the "e" overload that happened a few months ago, which they survived and are now trying to make something out of it.

That is if you are interested in speculation. If you are interested in technology then invest in what you like and would like to support. I personally do believe in those two, among couple of others. I like IOTA very much, regarding the speculation - I think we already missed the train for the next couple of months, but regarding the technology I think it is an investment opportunity in any case.
607  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Project: Alternative to Coinmarketcap, on: January 05, 2018, 08:01:30 AM
Since it is obviously too easy to scam Coinmarketcap, yes. One of Edoge versions was there for months with high value while not even being tradeable and while not having such value on exchanges..... It is still there, although with a gibberish value: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/etherdoge/.

Hence I would gladly accept the alternative. However, it should have all the functionalities of Coinmarketcap because it really is a great tool.
608  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Just saw this Etherdelta news, how you guys think?? RIP?? on: January 05, 2018, 07:55:12 AM
Since their main marketing tool was basically marketing the listing of all known ERC20 coins, surely it is bad for their business with existing users. As you can notice they already deleted the story.....

However, maybe it is not bad for atracting new ones. Low volume is their main problem, besides being too slow even with such low volume. If they redesign the engine of their web and make it more user friendly (at least they could add some calculators) it would surely attract more people.

The problem with ERC20 coins is that there are many pump and dump ones, many that could be something good but then people use it only to pump and dump and then basically destroy it, and there are just too many scam coins. Etherdelta used to list them all. Pulling a break and making the developers put in some effort too get listed may be a good thing.
609  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to stop ICO ? on: January 05, 2018, 07:50:16 AM
You'll never be able to stop them. ICO's are nothing more then crowdsales. And crowdsales are a new way of attracting the investors.

You know how it used to be in the old times? You would have an idea, or a finished project, and then you would organise or attend a party or gathering of special sort of people, or find a promotor who would do it for you and present yourself and your idea there.... Now it's more easy, you have internet and more people can get acquainted with your idea. However the problem is that they don't get to know you. Although it is hard to know if the persons are sincere just by getting to know them, it is indeed more easy to check the validity of their projects and their honesty.

What can be done though is a better regulation. Nowdays it is far too easy to set up a project, a nice looking one, and then just escape with the money. My vote is that every applicant should offer something to vouche with (like credit card number) so that she/he can be penalized in case of not delivering with intent of not delivering (making a fraud). In the future it could be secured with smart contracts as well.
610  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: what is fastest blockchain - near real time ? on: January 05, 2018, 07:41:29 AM
Looking at the big players, I think it is Ripple, with Ripple 3-5 second ledger closes. If you however look at the small ones, then maybe some others are faster, but then again their scalability hasn't been really tested yet as they don't have too many users.
611  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Difference between NEO and GAS on: January 04, 2018, 10:59:47 AM
Kaizer28 explained it perfectly. In a nutshell - you hold NEO and receive GAS.

If you are an investor interested only in trading - you receive some extra value "for free" that you can use for trading.

If you are interested in the technology of NEO and want to keep a share inside, like a traditional investor, then it is like your dividend. If you would be holding a traditional share of some company, if that company turns profit you would receive a compensation - dividends - that is the encouragement right there for you, for holding the shares and not just selling them. Similar is with GAS although you receive it no matter what and it has it own "tradeable" value just like the main token/share - NEO.
612  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Some insight on ADA coin/Cardano on: January 04, 2018, 10:53:50 AM
From this post it seems they are spending a lot of time on trying to prove they are legit - web site, twitter, professional team, technical articles, testimonies by others,.... If I was in their place I would focus more on providing some actual projects which would prove that by itself. Seems phishy. But I am still interested in Cardano very much - who wouldn't be? It is in the top 5 and still increasing. It also has a very interesing technology, unique.
613  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Tether (USDT) on: January 04, 2018, 10:48:26 AM
Tether is a tool used to make trading simpler as it is holding it's value. However, a constant increase of total crypto market value is pushing it's price up very hard and in order to keep the price constant they have to increase the number of tokens which is in turn driving it's price down.

It is very hard to keep the value of something at any time, not to say at the times of high volatility. They claim to have an USD in reserve for every Tether to keep the solvency. But for how long?

I am not saying that Tether is not a valid tool / project (we are not able to check it though) but from the economical point of view it is hardly tenable.
614  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: TRON (TRX) is going crazy. on: January 04, 2018, 10:38:36 AM
I would never suggest buying and the "Highest value ever" point. Yes, it could mean "missing the train", but it depends if you like to invest in secure - slowly growing - way, or unsercure - potentially fast growing or losing way. I basically consider a conservative approach investing, while the more bold approach gambling, unless you are a very experienced investor who can predict, track the changes daily, and react very quickly.

There are many Trons in the circulation so try to compare it so something similar in top 10, say IOTA, NEM, do the math (compare the current value of Tron, and value of top currencies with similar supply) and see how much it could grow in short time.

I say it could grow to around 1 USD, but more likely will stop around 0,25 for the time being. But it could also start falling today.....
615  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Etherdelta Token sale, will you buy it? on: January 04, 2018, 10:32:06 AM
I am not much into ICO's, so basically - no. But otherwise, while Etherdelta token is interesting (I think it will grow), we could consider this token to be kind of like having a shares in the company and since Etherdelta could grow - it is really useful albeit unsecure, non user-friendly and very slow.....

But I don't know, they would have to show to me, the potential investor, that they are planning to make some progress on solving the problems they have, and not just by using words.
616  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Suggestions for an app? on: January 04, 2018, 10:25:28 AM
Well, an app for investors that would incorporate the standard tools like Fibonacci, moving average, Monte Carlo long term predictions and others in some automated / easy to use way would "kill it" I think.
Also, there is still no wallet that has all the main coins at least.....
Price checkers are very buggy and we are still waiting for the "best tool out there"....

App for user-friendly and SECURE exchage would definitely take the win, but it should be connected with exchanges that are not secure and reliable by themselves, so I don't know about that one.

Airdrop / ICO tracker?
617  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: bitcoin or ripple ? on: January 04, 2018, 10:19:05 AM
Well, Bitcoin is more scarce and has a much higher value and has a better potential to replace gold as a store of vallue. Ripple on the other had, just like IOTA or any other "low fees, fast transactions" coin with greater supply have more chances in becoming the day-to-day transaction instrument.

It is not possible to predict what will happen exactly however. Bitcoin is slowly adapting the technologies from others and developing some on it's own but it will still remain scarce (considering the world market needs), and Ripple is troublesome. The whole idea behind crypto was to replace/avoid the centralisation that we have nowdays and Ripple is centralised and arguably controled by banking sector which means the situation would remain same as it is today only with one more/better tool for bankers/creditors.
618  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will you donate Bitcoin for the poor and needy? on: January 04, 2018, 10:13:57 AM
Well, my life goal is to secure my family enough and then just donate... donate. But that is not the answer to the actual question. Yes, at this time, there is not much sense in donating Bitcoin to the poor. But if cryptos will be the main transaction instruments in the future and it will be easy enough to use them even with public terminals, then I don't see why not. It will even have an advantage with smart contracts and everything - we will know for sure where the money ends up. The way charities are done these days we can never know if the end users / people in need receive the full amount, if any at all. Government will sometimes take some (VAT), charitis foundations would take some etc (some times for self-preservation and some times (some of them) just out of greediness, I know cases in which it happened) ......
619  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: I'm sick of losing to the Blockchain on: January 03, 2018, 03:28:51 PM
Well, I wouldn't blaim it on the blockchain technology as it is. I would blame it as always - on people and our mistakes.

Blockchain is a genius technology, a finally revelead "next big thing" that was sought after a long time. And in the right time (or being provoked by it) - at the end of the big world cash-flow crisis that have indeed ended, but with the financial world still being fundamentally in the much bigger crisis - when we needed a new system of transactions; one that will provide more reliable and secure, and honest system then the current system of creating and allocation of money which is almost solely in the hands of private bankers.

However, as with any great idea there are problems.
1. Reliability and security. As you mentioned - there is hardly anything secure and user-friendly out there. However, hardly anything was with any new technology in the human history. And yes, this technology is new, and prone to more mistakes because it is an open community. An open community is self-correctable which is a good thing, but also anyone can work on it which is both good and bad thing.
2. Honesty. Justice? Hardly any of the systems out there are not centralised. Even those that claim they are not centralised are centralised because they have whales - and big ones too.

Point 1. is solvable - by learning, hard work and time.
Point 2. Is it solvable? I don't know. It is the human nature, it doesn't change easily.
620  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Best security measures for a computer with pirated software? on: January 03, 2018, 03:14:36 PM
Best security is a user her/himself, always. Carefully inspecting what they browse and open should be enough.
Hower, I suggested getting a good antivirus - commercial like Symantec, or free like Avast. I confirm those two are very good. However they are not "bulletproof". You should still be careful.

The unlegit software by itself is not a problem, although you should refrain yourself from using it. I mean, many legit software have lots of vulnerabilities, even OS's (just check  the history of Windows 98, it was unsafe even to connect to the internet with it......).

Never open e-mail attachments that you are not absolutely sure of what they are.
