What have you sold 12 of, Jupiters? or Neptunes?

One morning I got a UPS confirmation, then they arrived on the Monday.

I've sold 12 Neptunes...

I was surprised to see it myself, I guess it paid off to have the ad in my signature, plus I paid for advertising on an online classifieds called 'Gumtree' in Australia. That was best $27.95 I ever spent.
I didn't offer free hash, but I offered free support, setup and maintenance for 12 months.

Plus I bought one myself, but I didn't use my reseller link for myself... I forgot with all the excitement when they went on sale  Tongue

I couldn't be happier  if I get a bonus  Grin  that'll make 2 Neptunes coming my way

Just wanted to quickly chime in about my experience with Kncminer.

Last week I received my bonus units, after a few initial teething problems (mostly caused by me being thick) I got everything up and running, every unit exceeded my expectations apart from one which seemed to have a fault and eventually went pop on Thursday.

Thursday evening I emailed their customer service and they immediately raised an RMA for me, the board went out Friday and I just received confirmation that it was on its way back to me now.

Great service! Thanks KNCminer

Hi lemonte,

are you referring to bonus units for selling units as a re-seller?

how do you know when buyers through your re-seller ID got their units and then how do you know when you get yours?  Does KNC send you some confirmation that this is happening?

Can you see this in the re-seller portal?

Thanks
merv77

Hi Merv,

it shows in the reseller portal, should show how many you have sold. Once you sell 10 of one, you get one for yourself.

Thats great, I've sold 12 as indicated in the reseller portal  Shocked
but how do you know when buyers received theirs and you're going to receive yours?  Or you just wait for your bonus unit like a surprise waiting to be delivered?
Did KNC contact you and tell you they are sending you the bonus unit?

I'm excited in getting my bonus  Cheesy Grin Cheesy
Thanks for the quick reply Lemonte

updates?

The case is moving forward, but I can't say any more about that on a open forum. The lawyer is working on the complaint, the next update will be when it's time for the people who has joined the complaint to submit their information to the lawyer.

Hi virtualspace,

will you PM people who joined complaint and give us list of what Lawyer requires from us?

will he need proof of shares bought at BTC.TC or is information from cryptostocks enough?
Will be needing csv files of trades etc..?
I have csv files that I downloaded from BTC.TC, but if anyone who hasn't, are they still available from BTC.TC?
Is burnside of BTC.TC assisting lawyer or is lawyer contacting him?
Is cryptostocks also assisting?

Is there anything else we should be preparing before we get contacted and have to submit info to lawyer?

Answer what you can in public forum otherwise could you send everyone PM (email) relevant information to prepare?

Thanks,

Yes, that's basically the idea, running a mining farm for my friends, family and I.

I fully understand were Black Arrow is coming from and I wouldn't cause no confusion for them at all.  I will be running these miners from my place and sharing profit to others (friends/family).  I have fairly good experience in electronics, computers, networking and mining as I've been mining since early August with BFL and October with KNC miners, and haven't any issues with either of them yet.  Rest assured that your mining equipment are in good hands and will be looked after like they are my babies  Kiss  Wink

If you or Black Arrow what my resume to see what experience I have up my sleeve you would most probably be impressed.  No joke  Shocked Cool

Every one should relax as this really isn't a group buy as you know it.  Sheeeesh...  I should have kept my mouth shut.

I work in customer service in the oil industry, and once customers that know you will bend and adjust to them, there is always that one that wants you to drop your pants and bend over backwards for them. After a while you have to put policys in place. (No cancellations, no group buys)

Its not your order that is complicated, its the guy after you who buys 20 of them for 15 people and when they tell him thats not allowed, he tells them "well merv77 did a group buy and black arrow was find with it" Hence, the policys they have in place.

You guys still insist I have done a group buy???

ok, ok, I didn't or won't any more they are all mine as of now.

Let's hope you can take my word for it..  if not, how would you like me to prove it??

Cheers

Regarding the "no group buys"

Its probably a customer service issue. This is a small shop in China, not a call center with customer service reps on hand 24/7. They are selling specialized prototype equipment. Honestly, i dont think they want to dick around with complicated orders and offering many different payment options/plans etc.

Can you imagine selling 2000 of these things to every corner of the globe, and 6 months down the road you are getting calls from people for support, warrantee, etc. They arent on file, because they bought them from so-n-so, which originally paid with bank wire, but then added 3 more on with western union to a different address. They want a new part shipped to their house under warrantee. It cant go to the original buyer because now he lives 2 states over now. ETC ETC. It would be a nightmare. I understand what you are doing with your friends and family, but these guys are computer techs not customer service pros. Keep this shit as simple as possible as not to further delay.

Id say either have your friends order the units themselves (walk them through it)
or
have them give you the money to start up your mining farm and you give them a percentage of the profit at the end of each month.

I finally got a reply for my ticket requesting payment method changed.  It did take about 10 days but did come through..  for minute I thought this deal was going to fall through.

finally sorted.. Will be collecting cash from others involved in this purchase and should be initiating bank wire in 2 to 4 days.

Thanks BlackArrow Matt and/or Julia I. for your help even if it took a while. It's all good now  Grin  Wink

I thought group buys were not permitted??

Yeah, they're not. I did mention that a few pages back.

Well poop. Have an order that is presently in limbo, and would like to know if I made the batch 1 cutoff myself.

Have been waiting for a response from sales about submitting a payment :| Order #229x

double poop, I'm in exact same boat. orders #154x and #168x for (6) X3's that was meant to of been a group buy with my friends.

now my friends that don't understand the bitcoin business think I've duped them.  I'm fucked from both ends.

This is one reason why we don't allow group buys.
https://www.blackarrowsoftware.com/support/index.php?/Knowledgebase/Article/View/5/2/why-you-do-not-accept-group-buys

Sorry, if I didn't specify exactly....

It's not group buy at all.  Not here, internet or anywhere public.  It's totally a private friend/family organized purchase.  Sorry  Undecided
As I said I'll be collecting cash from MY FRIENDS/FAMILY as we're in on this together, and I'll be doing bank wire myself getting machines delivered to my premises and hosting, maintaining, submitting RMA's if required, etc etc..

hows this not allowed, and seriously who the fuck cares how I buy the machines.. I could of just said they're all mine  Grin

I really don't think Black Arrow would care either.
EDIT. I fully understand Black Arrow's policy on 'not permitting group buys' and personally I never like them myself.

409  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Mining on $5K on: December 15, 2013, 05:28:22 PM
Hi,

if you want miner and had 5K to spend, I would try to get a KNC Jupiter that will be re-released in the coming days.  Not sure if they are 550GH/s or the 650GH/s variants.
These are your best bet IMO to get hashing before difficulty skyrockets.   eg. if you pre-ordered a Black Arrow X3 @ 2TH/s and it arives March/April and difficulty is well over 3 billion you wouldn't get any more BTC as you would if you had a Jupiter in the next couple weeks.  The only unknown at moment is how fast the can KNC build and ship them.  Just have to wait and see.  And if you were to go for one of these new Jupiters you'd have to be dam quick as they probably sell out in minutes/hours.

Yes there are other miners available for pre-order, but as you mentioned you wouldn't get these anytime soon.  Possibly March/April if you're lucky enough to get in the cue on time.

Don't take my word on where difficulty is heading as it's only my view and guess ATM.

Do your homework and see if others will post their views.

Good luck

410  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Hacking The KNC Firmware: Overclocking on: December 15, 2013, 01:07:57 PM
I wish there were some extensive research done on how OCing ASICs affects their longevity.  It's the one reason I won't overclock any of my gear...

But if you look @ it from a mining calculator perspectve, I guess you could argue that you want as much hash power as early as possible, as opposed to as long possible with average hash rate... hmmm
This goes against my electronic-principles!

I think you're right, if you could get one year OC'd you could be better off then 2 years not OC'd.  This could be the case if all companies follow through with what's predicted. No?

412  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: December 14, 2013, 04:42:20 PM
28nm tech.
KNC = 140GH/s per board
HF = 500+GH/s per board

Those figures suggest massively superior engineering to me. How about you phoenuis? Or are you going to tell me 140GH >>>>>>>> 500GH?

500GH/s per board isn't necessarily superior engineering.  What if your board or chip dies, then you down 500GH/s hashing power till replacement arrives = more lose in BTC
at least with KNC you're only down 140GH/s and other boards still gets you something, to me KNC have superior engineering and also done without water cooling.

come on bfl is garbage

do not tell me about bfl labs

BFL the company and management are garbage, but their miners arn't that bad at all.

I have little single hashing since early august and been hashing flawlessly since.  virtually no HW errors and never rebooted.  just runs and runs.

But, I'm no BFL fan by far.  it took 14 months from payment till shipped.

Stats back up.

All this doesn't explain why I now receive a transfer every few hours instead of a mining reward every few days!

Has the way the pool operates changed?

yes there has been some changes, see below

Greetings miners,

So, on to some minor fixes/changes.

Since I dropped the minimum payout amount down to 40 TBC (~0.04 BTC) the coinbase/generation transaction has been reaching the set maximum outputs almost every block.  This means that the balance ends up in the pool's cold wallet and needs to be paid manually later (which I have been doing).

In an effort to address this without increasing the size of the coinbase transaction (which can cause problems with miners that have low memory or slow hosts) I've modified the way the coinbase transaction is created slightly with regard to the payout queue.

Here is how it worked previously:

  • Sort addresses in queue by balance age, oldest to newest
  • Pay addresses until either the full coinbase/reward amount was consumed or 128 outputs were paid
  • If less than the full reward were consumed, and less than 2000 TBC remain, send the balance to the offline "change" address.
  • If more, pay 2000 TBC to the offline change address, balance to the main offline wallet

Now it works like this, changes highlighted in green:

  • Sort addresses in queue by balance age, oldest to newest
  • Pay addresses until either the full coinbase/reward amount was consumed or 100 outputs were paid
  • If less than the full reward were consumed, re-sort the addresses in queue, highest balance to lowest balance
  • Pay addresses until either the full coinbase/reward amount was consumed or 28 outputs were paid
  • If less than the full reward were consumed, and less than 2000 TBC remain, send the balance to the offline "change" address.
  • If more, pay 2000 TBC to the offline change address, balance to the main offline wallet

This has the effect of better filling the coinbase/generated payout transaction with more miners that are due payouts by effectively allowing miners with the largest balances due to jump ahead in the queue, only when needed, to better pay the full block reward directly to miners, instead of to a pool offline wallet for manual payment.

Summary: The payout queue should be paid out automatically the majority of the time and faster than it has been with less manual payouts needed.  More fresh coins for miners. Smiley

Happy mining!

Neptunes are down to 32/1200 left up for sell.

Seems they will have sold out 1200 x 12,995.00 = WOW

as of now when I check is says 43/1200 left.

where are you getting 32 from?
420  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Best way to predict difficulty? on: December 14, 2013, 12:49:51 PM
I'm looking to predict difficulty for March next year. What's the best way to do it?

Also, what's your personal opinion on the worst and best difficulty levels it could be in March?

Thanks.

Try this
http://btc.re/miningcalc

Great site, cheers! Is the default 30% right? I would have thought 15%. What do you think?

30% would be a safe estimate, what could happen as past results have shown us that when ASIC miner manufacturers start shipping hardware in the masses as did KNC last October we could even see some 40% difficulty rises.  After these massive difficulty increase's then there can/will be some tapering off down to the 20% level (maybe 15%).
I'd be more inclined in using and average rise of 25% from now, mid Dec 2013 to May 2014.

This is my rough guesstimation.

Cheers
