Now that I have my B2 KNC Miner what PC power supplies will work best, and should I buy 3 lower wattage ones as supposed to 2 higher wattage PSUs?

You've been waiting this long for the unit, why on earth are you just trying to figure out how to power it now?

Because like you said I have been waiting a long time for it to ship, now that it's shipped and arrived I need to figure out how to power it up without it catching fire. lol

If you get ATX PC PSU's you might consider NOT getting modular ones.
The extra connectors is just another possible point of failure.
(this would prolly require more smaller ones, as big ones are often modular)

YMMV
Smiley

So you wouldn't recommend two of these?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438011

I don't see any PC non-modular PSU's on the market in Canada. The only way I could get a non-modular is to buy something from IBM, Dell or HP but the cost would out weigh any and all hopes to recoup all of the cost or part of it. Smiley

Is there a place online that selling the PCIe splitter and that sells a high quality one?

Thanks,

contact cablez on here he sent me a fine pair of them

Searing

Thanks,

With respect to these cables, I guess one needs to on the 5th miner so that the power is shared by the two PSU's I buy?

I looked back through threads as much as I could as there is more threads on people complaining about refunds and all that hoopla than there is on actual configuration and testing of the miners with PSU's and these cables. So I am not too clear if I just need to buy one or many, if I need many why?

Thanks,

Bummer, (regarding tax and customs fees)

I had assumed incorrectly from your statement that it was in the US already.

YMMV
Smiley

Well I am not sure why this is but UPS receives overseas shipments in the US first, then bring them into Canada. Why the can't or refuse to bring them into Canada I am not sure. It's not like Sweden is an American country. LOL
187  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 22, 2014, 11:58:38 PM
To date I have not heard of a US customer needing to pay anything extra.

It seems like you are basing expectations on foreign customs/tax laws.

I hope you are pleasantly suprised re:shipping and taxes.
2 Sat. and 1 Nep here, in US, I never paid extra @ the door for package.

Thx for sharing the order and shipping info.

YMMV

I don't live in the Unite States.
188  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 22, 2014, 09:34:46 PM
I'm a Batch 0 customer in Canada and UPS charged me a bit over $500 CAD for customs fees. $2100 sounds quite ridiculous, especially this late in the game with difficulty so high. Maybe KNC can mark the Neptunes true current value which I would say is about $5k CAD.

I can stand paying $500 for a Neptune in duty and taxes but not $2100. It has to be reasonable, so I will let UPS process it but if it comes to me with some stupid ridiculous price I am going to have to say NO! lol

I just got off the phone with UPS they say that KNC marked the value my Neptune at $10k, so that would be HST I believe, $1300 plus duty.

189  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 22, 2014, 07:43:22 PM
Pfff... you may return it to sender, but good luck getting a refund this way. A better option, I think, is to sell it (albeit a bit cheaper) quickly to someone who is willing to also pay the customs tax. But still, you should wait until you get the invoice from UPS, you may just slip through Wink

For anyone else receiving this kind of equipment from overseas (doesn't matter in which direction)- most companies can't estimate what you would pay in customs for your units. I had this exact situation last year when receiving from BFL, I had to pay customs for my order when coming from US to EU. Since each country has very, and I mean very complex customs laws, it's more or less unpredictable for businesses even if they are willing to give you an exact quote. And don't even get me started on shipments from China... Depending on where you are, you can pay from nothing to 200% import tax... So always keep this one in mind Wink

I buy stuff from Ebay all the time, even from places in the states that are the farthest from me. It just depends on how the sender sends the items, they can send with the full price value or they can mark it down. Most companies in the US who sell stuff over the internet either mark the price down or charge you the tax, if they charge you tax it costs you nothing when it gets to your door.

So really it depends on the company who's sending it.

Unfortunately I can't recoup the $12k plus the $2100 for duty and taxes and I am not about to take a loss on a brand new product, so I will take the risk. I have already informed KNC Miner so they are aware and kept in the loop.
190  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 22, 2014, 07:11:44 PM
I may have to ask UPS to return to sender when my KNC gets here. I just found out from a B1 Canadian receiver they had to pay an additional $2100 in taxes and duties to UPS, unfortunately I can't forgo this as I would not be able to recover this cost.

191  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 22, 2014, 07:00:51 PM
Actually they count the introductory as Batch 0 ($10,000), then the $12-grand one as Batch 1, and then Batch 2 is Dec-Feb orders again for $10,000. I'm guessing then you're indeed Batch 2. Any willingness to share first three digits of your order number? Just so we know where we're at. I will understand if you don't Smiley

P.S.
I'm 189xx (B2) myself and still not shipped, or even "in production".

Not sure if you have seen this thread?
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=348957.0

I am listed at the bottom, the don't list the batches correctly even though I told the OP who doesn't care. Sad

My order number is 172xx

Are you batch 2? There is an ongoing discussion whether KNC shipped anything form batch 2 (here, as well as on KNC forums) like their announcement said, and if you are you would be the first confirmed one.

Yes I am a Batch 2 customer.
This is means B2 by KNC's standards as they don't count the introductory offer to their KNC customers as B1 and the next offer to everyone as B2, instead they counted the introductory offer and the offer to everyone else as B1 units, then in late Nov or early Dec they started selling B2 units, which is what I ordered and should be here on Monday, it was shipped from Sweden yesterday. It's already in the US. Smiley

194  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: August 22, 2014, 05:02:06 PM
So what's the latest on connecting PC power supplies to the Neptune's, what is the general consensuses on what we use?

My Neptune was shipped yesterday and will arrive on Monday so I need to get a move on with respect to power. Smiley

Thanks,

How are people getting 3.4TH/s with the Neptune at 1950 watts of power?

http://forum.kncminer.com/forum/news-and-anouncments/54855-titan-neptune-status-update

hallelujah by golly.....

left this message on knc forums on what kinda power supply to use with titan I kinda need to know that
maybe? not a big deal in Titan power requirements are lower

have a new 1200i Corsair .should work ok .but they had issues I heard with the Neptunes

here is the knc forum link

http://forum.kncminer.com/forum/main-category/hardware/54856-titan-power-supply-any-issues-like-the-corsair-1200i-etc

I assume these units will use the same PCI connection that made everyone crazy on the Neptunes..but with lower power
reguirements maybe not a big deal

also anyone know how many modules the titan comes with (4?)

at 350mh at least till a month goes by and firmware is made to tweak ..still gonna suck $$ lose wise but at least it
seems to be moving now

for those who know more about this stuff chime in

Searing

I am actually talking about the Neptune power consumption stats the have provided.

POWER (J/GH) - at-the-wall

0,57 J/GH - KNC Neptune - 1950 watts at 3400 GH/s (reported average)
0,62 J/GH - Bitfury BF3500 - 2200 watts, 3500 GH/s (stated, unconfirmed)
0,76 J/GH - Spondoolies SP30 - 3200 watts at 4200 GH/s (reported average)
0,77 J/GH - Antminer Bitmain S3 - 388 watts at 441 GH/s (reported average)
1,10 J/GH - Terraminer IV - 2200 watts @ 2000 GH/s (stated, unconfirmed)
1,20 J/GH - Avalon3 - 350 watts @ 290 GH/s (stated, unconfirmed)

”Reported average” = average real-world figures as reported by users.
”Stated” = as promised by it’s manufacturer, not yet sufficiently confirmed by user reports.

It seems a bit odd when people have been saying they have been buying more than 1950watts of total power..

Any update from KNC?
how about the Nepy batch 2 and Tity batch 1?
They kept silence for a while, felt not comfortable.

Ya I saw that post when it came out on here....oooo one person got justice...what about the rest of the thousands?

A few people asked him for contact details and none were forthcoming.

Really? That sucks. Why did he announce it on the forum if he wasn't going to share more info? Ugh...

I posted to inform people that they can get back their money.
Just pick up the phone, call lawyers and explain them what is happening.

I ask the lawyer I used if I can share his info, he gave a negative response.
He added that he doesn't want to do any other "KNC cases".

First of all no local lawyer outside of Sweden is going to be able do anything for you period as Sweden's legal system is completely different than law outside of Sweden. So you are going to have to hire a lawyer in Sweden if you want to go after KNC Miner.

At the rate that Knc is going not shipping the batch 2 Neptune's yet it looks like they will owe me 3 or 4 Neptune's! Smiley

This is shocking!  Do they think that because they shipped at least one Neptune by Q1/Q2 that they have met their timeline obligation?  That is totally absurd.  'Ontime and overspec' is their claim with this performance?  What if they take another 12 months to deliver the remaining Neptunes?  They still claim to meet their timeline?  I've got a feeling customers aren't going to stand by forever.  Probably time for serious action.

Nah, I suspect they will have to either provide 6 or 12 Neptune's to batch 2 and something similar to Batch 3 (1&2) owners.
