You're a fool if you buy anything from Avalon

I have bought a lot things from Avalon in the past had no issues. Maybe you were bugging them so much that they messed up your order intentionally Smiley

302  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: FREE Avalon ASIC chips! on: March 13, 2014, 06:42:09 PM
65$ bucks per chip for shipping.

Because a package containing 3 chips (total weight and size close to nothing) really cost 200$ to ship.

Are they taking for retards or something.

I don't get where you see 3 chips when his site says you get 20 chips, and the shipping cost is 0.1BTC.

$65 USD to ship isn't bad figuring it actually comes from China, and your supposed to get 20 chips not 3.
303  Bitcoin / Hardware / FREE Avalon ASIC chips! on: March 13, 2014, 05:51:49 PM
Sorry if I have posted this in the wrong forum. Sad

http://avalon-asics.com/product/a3233-free-sample-chips/

This package include 20 free A3233 40nm chips. you can find more document about A3233
Core voltage:0.75V
Chip frequency:600MHz
Hashrate:7.089GH/s

PS:
0.1BTC was for shipping cost. the A3233 was totally free.

Just saw this now on avalon-asic and thought this might be cool for those making USB ASIC keys.

304  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Database corrupted on: March 13, 2014, 12:06:00 PM
Thanks.  Should peers.dat be deleted too?

It seems stuck on 270 weeks.  Don't the early weeks go fast, usually?

EDIT:  NVM there it goes.  I deleted everything a second time and started over. This time deleting the chainstate folder also as you said to.  Didn't do that last time and it was stuck on 270.

You have let it sit. Depending on your connection it can take up to 24 to 48 hours to download the blockchain.
305  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / BitcoinQT transaction fee on: March 13, 2014, 12:03:59 PM
Is there anyway to setup BitcoinQT to automatically deduct the transaction fee when you are sending money from your wallet like Multibit does?

I use bitcoin-qt on my P2Pool and for larger transactions it tells me I need to deduct 0.001 for the transaction fee, after I subtract the 0.001 and try to send the amount it tells me I need to deduct 0.002, this is too confusing so it would be better if I can setup bitcoin-qt to automatically deduct the transaction fee so I am not getting the run around each time.

Thanks,

Is there any info or word on Maxcoin being supported by P2Pool?

Looks like they have sold out of Neptune's now! Smiley

They had 845 yesterday, so I don't think that they sold out.
It was just getting embarassing-only ~150 sold in more than 3wk-market has spoken.
The price is completely non-competitive without further info. It should be either 5Th for $10K or 3Th for $6-7K for Q2.
market has doubts and it is KnC job to provide better info.
BTW, Bitmain dropped the price today to 0.999BTC/180-200GH (or $624=$3120-3466/TH and you get it in 4 days).

The in stock number doesn't update in real-time, so it's possible they did sell out of Neptune's.
308  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: March 10, 2014, 01:50:21 PM
Hello, someone can build the latest openwrt trunk with the lastest cgminer? (4.1.0)
Here you go, and given the bugfixes that went into 4.1.0, this might be one of the best firmwares ever, though it's completely untested.

http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/avalon/20140309/

Ty.. This one seems a bit more HW % :S. And today morning i should power off, power on the PSUs to get them hasin`...

Check your cables. I am using the the newer firmware on my AVY1's and the HW% is lower than before.

Check what? I dont touched my unit, just flashed the FW Smiley.

It's your unit not the firmware.

That's because I bought them all. They all going into my level 4 co-lo once they arrive! Wink

Is there anything I can do? Some sort of visual check perhaps to verify the fault?

Noob I'm afraid, I can find my way around when it comes to software but a soldering iron is way beyond my skills.

What's the hardware issue? I see no fault and are you using an Avy clone or a Avalon 1, or a new 300GH/s Avalon 2?

313  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [185 TH] p2pool: Decentralized, DoS-resistant, Hop-Proof pool on: March 09, 2014, 01:12:40 PM
How do I configure this stupid bitcoin-qt app on my P2Pool?

I am trying to transfer out 0.26017615 BTC and I told "the total exceeds your balance when the 0.001 BTC transaction fee is included". So subtract the 0.001 fee and put in 0.25917615 and it now tells me "the total exceeds your balance when the 0.002 BTC transaction fee is included". WTF really? Why can't this f'n application work?

Plz help, thanks!

A little off-topic isn't it?  Bitcoin-Qt may be used by P2Pool (or bitcoind instead of Bitcoin-Qt) but this isn't a P2pool question.  Sort of like asking why Python didn't install in this thread.  Nothing to do with P2Pool.

That said, try checking your Preferences in Bitcoin-Qt. The Main tab has the default transaction fee setting.

What is the default transaction fee supposed to be set at?

Anyone know the power requirements for the Neptunes?  I have some coming in and i want to buy some power supplies before hand.  i can't really ask for a refund as i have others depending on me making bitcoins for them.

There is only speculation at this point as KnC has not released any final details yet. But it's likely going to require you to run your Neptune inside a co-location as you will likely need two to four 20AMP circuits to power one. In co-lo's you pay per circuit and not pay for the consumption of power.

What 40A to 80A at 230V to power one Neptune I don't think so.  Even 40A@110V sounds far too high as Bitmine can get ~1(GH/s)/~1W@28nm at the wall socket.

Going by KnC's old numbers it was speculated you would need about 3500 watts to power a 4TH/s machine, if KnC bumped it up that high. At this point it's hard to say what the new number means, 43% less power, is that less than original predicted or less than what the 28nm wafer, or chip? So instead of being 0.7watts per GH, I guess its 0.57 watts per GH?

Using the new numbers, I would speculated that you will need 600 to 700 watts of power per 1TH/s. Regardless though I will be sticking my Neptune into a co-lo this way I don't have to worry about the added costs involved in cooling it and I will also able to run it on cleaner power, 200V.

316  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is it time to shut down 1st Gen ASICs? on: March 08, 2014, 11:54:20 AM
More importantly...
when did the word "sell" get replaced by the word "sale"?  I see it all of the time on bitcointalk and other places. Sale is a noun and sell is a verb.  "I'm going sale my old ASICs" should read "I'm going to sell my old ASICs".  Right?  Or did this suddenly change?
You're... noticing the bad English on this forum now? I don't think I've ever been on a forum with worse spelling and grammar, so I just ignore it since I have no choice (even though that's usually the sort of thing that makes me cringe).

There their they're your you're yaw yore "alot"... all the abuse you can imagine and more..

But at least it gives me an excuse to post this again:
http://hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com/2010/04/alot-is-better-than-you-at-everything.html

I know I shouldn't comment on poor grammar on a forum.  But this sale/sell thing has me confused.  I've never actually heard anyone use the word "sale" in place of "sell" in person.  It seems to be only in writing (righting, lol) and usually in comment sections on blogs and message boards.

That's likely because while we where given an education these folk, likely the younger generation, weren't. They have been taught to only sign their name. Smiley

You have to stick to CPU and GPU mining if you want to mine LTC. PeerCoin and other atl-coins, I think MaxCoin, work with ASIC mining.

319  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: March 08, 2014, 12:27:05 AM
Well lets hope KnC does the right thing and comes out with a press release at the end of this money for the people who are still on the pre-order list for the introductory and B1 orders explaining why things are delayed, if nothing ships.
320  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is it time to shut down 1st Gen ASICs? on: March 08, 2014, 12:19:02 AM
In short the answer is no as there will always be other Alt-coins that you can mine with ASIC technology, and the alt-coins will always have a much lower difficulty level than bitcoin so you can mine tons of them and covert them to BTC if you want.
