We have talked lots of about HALVING THE COIN

so lets take a final vote on this~

YES OR NO!

DO WE HALVE POTCOIN !!!???

i will make an official announcement after this vote

Can I ask why this is even being discussed? I might be in the minority here, but I think halving the coin will only create more problems. People won't trust a coin that can have its market cap manipulated so easily. I think when the halving occurs, the price go up temporarily, but ultimately a lot of people will sell at whatever profit they can get because they don't trust the coin any more. You are going to see people jumping ship if you do this...Just my opinion.

That's why I'm asking...What do we gain by doing this? Or is it just an attempt at market manipulation?
383  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][POT] PotCoin Launches Today 01/21 @ 4:20 on: March 21, 2014, 03:40:52 PM

Why would they take a stable form of money (USD) and substitute an unstable form of money (potcoin)?

The Federal Reserve is a private banking cartel (not a government agency) that is hellbent to collapse the US dollar, and is well on its' way to success in doing so.

The Fed creates money out of thin air; dollars that are backed by nothing except the US war machine and their big shiny guns...It's only a matter of time before the rest of the world catches on to their scam and stops accepting their "funny-money" as being something of actual value.

So much for the US dollar being a primary world reserve currency; it's not worth the paper it's printed on. It's a joke. And it's not funny.

Sorry but I did laugh at that a little bit. Worth is entirely subjective. A lot of people value the dollar, that's what makes it worth something. Same as bitcoin. You just don't like where the US dollar comes from and who regulates it.

Every currency gets used for war and every country regulates their own currency for their own benefit. Russia, China, they're all the same as the US. Every terrorist organisation on the planet it seems is supplied with russian weapons. but sure its our "war machine" thats the problem.

Did anyone post this? a HuffPo article on Potcoin and Dopecoin.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/03/19/bitcoins-drugs-dopecoin-potcoin_n_4980749.html

Business insider reported on huffpo's story

http://www.businessinsider.com/potcoin-and-dopecoin-2014-3

Thanks for these.

Its not intended to but it highlights the main difference between POT and DOPE...which is that POT is targeting the now soon to be legal (some places already is) marijuana industry. The dope developers have no such goals and could care less if the coin is used for illegal purchases outside of the marijuana industry.

I think that will hurt dopecoin big time. There are other coins more suited for what dopecoin aims to achieve (i.e. darkcoin)

Please, PotCoin / Dev's

Do Not Allow this Coin on Cryptsy.  We already took a hit from 3000 to 1100 (now trading around 1500) when we went on MintPal.  Why take us down another 50% or more.

http://www.cryptoscribe.com/market-trends/premature-multi-listing-destroys-new-coin-prices/

FUD, why 24 hours before the mintpal announcement POT was trading under 1000 Satoshi and there was a pump likely because of the mintcoin addition could have just been a coincidence. That link you provided talks about the 3 days after being added to mintcoin, well since it has been on mintcoin it has not gone below 1100 satoshi which it was at 700 satoshi a less than 3 days before hand. The way I see it mintpal has elevated the Potcoin floor.

Mintpal certainly increased exposure of this coin. It didn't take long for Pot trade volume on Mintpal to double that of crypto rush (less than a day I think):  http://coinmarketcap.com/volume.html#pot

The price is going to fluctuate. It just is. There are going to be bad days when a bunch of large holders are selling. There are going to be good days when people are buying, especially after positive news. What hurts this coin more than anything at all...are the people who are trying to short it. Forget about exchanges and everything else...the people who are going to Mintpal for the sake of shorting this coin to make a few bucks are the problem...not the exchange itself. They have no vested interest in this coin besides how much BTC its worth.

BTW those are the people who come in here crying about the price  Wink
386  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][POT] PotCoin Launches Today 01/21 @ 4:20 on: March 14, 2014, 07:57:58 PM
oh wait, remember when i said no don't get listed on another big exchange and everyone was like fuck you keep voting? Yeah. Congrats.

Very verbose "I told you so".

Seriously, if anyone cares about long-term sustainability, get this out there to the folks in Colorado, Washington, DC, and Cali who already have a foothold in the industry and do something with it.  I've already turned a few friends who are involved in the dispensary business in SoCal onto POT and they're digging the possibilities, but since this is one of the first real industry specific and geared currencies we should set a better example about how the benefits of crypto + a specialized coin can help consumers and producers and not just exist as BTC v7201 (also known as the Pump'N'Dump vNext).

Stop bickering about the bullshit surrounding all cryptos, manipulation won't go away.

I totally agree.

We need to spread the word about this coin to people who don't know about it. Not focusing on things that benefit current holders (i.e. exchanges). Walk down to your local head shop and talk about Potcoin to anybody who will listen, like I did. That sort of thing is what will get support for this coin, not exchanges.
387  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][POT] PotCoin Launches Today 01/21 @ 4:20 on: March 13, 2014, 05:59:46 PM

I tried to warn all of you that once we got on MintPal or Cryptsy that the whales would come in and short it to the ground.  But everyone wanted to get on these exchanges....all I heard was Vote, Vote, Vote, now look at the price.  Went from 3500 down to 1600 and still dropping.  Unless we generate buying, this coin price is done.

How's the marketing / sales coming along???  Once the dispensaries start accepting PotCoin, then the price will fly high.

That is still higher than it was before Mintpal. The problem isn't that its listed on these exchanges...its the people that come in and cry about the price, quoting meaningless numbers.

It was 3500 for less than a day...on ONE exchange...hardly a sustained price movement.

Like you said... focus on marketing/sales and general promotion, not the price. That comes later with success.

$199.99 free shipping on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00I0D81OG/ref=dp_olp_new?ie=UTF8&condition=new
Might have to wait a couple of weeks.

Just my 2 cents...you won't see those cards from Amazon any time soon if at all. If a website does not have it in stock they won't ship for weeks. And in my experience if Amazon has a GPU listed as ships in "2-4 weeks" that means they won't be getting it in. I have had orders cancelled for other GPU models on Amazon that were listed that way.

Cul's prices are unbeatable right now. I got 5 of the MSI R9 270 at $190 each and that was hands down the best deal I could find at the time. I wish I had waited till now...

Edit: Also want to add his shipping is quick. 5-6 days to the US is typical

God damn I love PotCoin and it's community. It so great to be apart of something so special.

Feel so excited that I used PotCoin to buy a double sampler pack from http://chronicstar.net/

I just found out about this site...and they accept potcoin!? Thanks for posting funktrust

to the PotCoin Dev team (smokemon): can we get an updated front page with a list of places accepting potcoin?

So sad to see potcoin crash so hard Sad Most likely cause of a few idiots who are pumping and dumping.

I think many of us saw it coming...it was just a pump from some people trying to make a quick buck. We are big enough now to be targeted by big BTC holders who can pump the coin and make some money off people buying in. We are growing but we aren't there yet.

You guys need to swtich to a different strain because whatever you've been smoking is making you paranoid.   There is NO parallel between Maza and POT.  None.  The Lakota nation is an actual official organization / tribe / nation.   The "pot industry" is decentralized and exists only intangibly no where and everywhere simultaneously.  Who among us really doesn't get that?   POTcoin IS the official cryptocurrency of the cannabis industry because WE make it so.  This is just nonsense.

Exactly. What's so hard to understand about all this?

If a person doesn't like potcoin, don't buy or mine any. Simple as that. Coin starts to get a little more popular and negative people come out the shadows to complain about this or that. What is stopping people from holding any other coin AND potcoin? Why be upset if potcoin rises and another coin doesn't?

Potcoin is new competition to whatever coin they holding. They bash Potcoin because they aren't invested in it. But thats ok let them talk. It doesn't really matter what somebody who isn't invested in the coin has to say about it.

This forum about Potcoin used to be one of my favorite things to read everyday. The developers updated the community with new information and people were psyched to discuss Potcoin. Now, there is almost never anything of use (you aren't just gonna instantly get rich off your Potcoins if POT goes on Mintpal or Cryptsy) and the forum is filled with useless commands to vote to get Potcoin on major exchanges.

Excuse me if this sounds whiny, but I do think Potcoin is an awesome idea. I have written about it, spoken on the phone to Smokemon (who is very smart and motivated) and mined and followed Potcoin from the beginning. Whether you are new or been around for awhile, I would like to get back to talking about clever ideas to actually implement this coin. And for those here just to make a profit, making the coin more usable in real life will benefit you too!

#1: What is going on with the Android Wallet? Did I miss something scrolling through the pages of "Vote on Mintpal"?

#2: Is anyone a shop owner or close to a lead that would get Potcoin accepted in a store or shop in real life?

#4: Where are we on the leads to online marijuana stores using Potcoin (Potlocater)?

#5: Are there any other ideas (no matter how small) that anyone may have that could help Potcoin?

Thanks and feel free to call me a troll, negative Nancy, or whatever other negative things you can come up with. I appreciate any constructive criticism and may the brilliance of Potcoin soon be realized!

I've been trying to get people to realize that for some time. Exchanges aren't what this coin needs. Although they do increase exposure and exposure helps.

I suggest reading the reddit postings for news and information not related to exchanges: www.reddit.com/r/PotCoin

And I would also be interested in hearing from any shop owners or vendors who could consider accepting this coin down the line. Our competitor dopecoin is being accepted in a few places and it would be nice to see a potcoin logo in a window sometime soon

As for new ideas...I'm just going to drop this here: www.reddit.com/r/DarkNetMarkets/

Might be a good place to contact people who would be interested in this coin...

All this talk about Cryptsy being death to coins is nonsense. Cryptsy is just a trading platform. The "whales" can manipulate the price on any exchange, as long as there is enough volume.

People are so obsessed with the price of this coin right now, only 6 weeks after launch...6 WEEKS!! This is a longer term investment...not a get rich quick scheme. If thats what you want then go make your own coin to pump and dump like all the other crook developers out there.

Like I've been saying for 2 weeks we are in decline across the board. The bubble is bursting...alt coins everywhere (bitcoin too) are dropping. Mine and hold if you believe in this coin. The only thing an exchange does is allow you to transfer value out of Pot and into something else. It does not necessarily benefit the coin.

How do you think people are going to acquire potcoin if there aren't enough exchanges?  Not everyone is a miner, and exchanging on blind faith obviously doesnt work.

Exchanges are necessary for expansion.

Partially correct. Many more people are looking to sell than buy in the early days of a coin. Large holders often end up being the ones buying up all the coins, not new investors. Mining is probably what most new investors will do to get coins (at least for now).

An exchange like crypsty would certainly increase our coin's exposure which is why it should be listed there. It should be listed everywhere in my opinion. My point is that people are too obsessed with the price and how a particular exchange will affect it.
