If the port is max output is only 0.5A that is the max. So if a device max draw is say 1A then it will only be supplied 0.5A period.

And is that the max output of this hub? I have not heard anybody say that...which is why I'm here asking. I have usb 2.0 hubs that output 1.2A to multiple ports because they have external power. Thats more than twice usb 2.0 spec. All I'm asking is...can these ports do the same? or are they limited?
542  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [SOLD] ASICMiner 49 port hubs + 50 units! In Stock! 1.75 BTC - Hub only 1.1 BTC on: October 28, 2013, 05:35:14 AM
Yes but that is what the USB port provides. These should be getting power from the PSU. Thats why I was asking if anybody knows if you can over draw the port? Like a USB charge port can provide 1+ amp if powered by an external adaptor
543  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [SOLD] ASICMiner 49 port hubs + 50 units! In Stock! 1.75 BTC - Hub only 1.1 BTC on: October 28, 2013, 04:10:55 AM
Is it standard USB 2.0 or is it USB 3.0 ports?

The protocol doesn't really matter so much but what about the power output per port? If a power supply can provide additional current @ 5v could the hub power say...blue fury miners? They require ~.85 A per port where typical USB 2.0 is only .5 A. But since the power draw is directly from the PSU I don't see why they can't overdraw...
544  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Bi•Fury | 5+ GH/s USB Miner [FASTEST USB MINER IN THE WORLD] on: October 27, 2013, 07:58:26 PM
Summing up the discussion on power spec.
One of our mining test that summary you can see in gallery, was running on laptop with USB 3.0 port.
So we know that 5+GH/s from device can be easily acquire with normal USB 3.0 spec.

To meet customer expectations we will provide sufficient USB 3.0 hubs in our store, that's every one can buy hub and get it in one package with ordered Bi•Fury's, to minimize unnecessary cost.
Now we are in negotiations with some producers to provide hubs in good price on right time.

First we thinking about Dipol Hub's.
But price per port is still very high.

For now we are most believe in ORICO A3H10 hub.
Price per port is right and quality is very good.

Hubs come with 12V4A external power supply, and manufacturer assured us that every port meets the full specification USB 3.0 (5V 900mA).

I will update some info about hubs and Bi•Fury sale in next weekend.

Waiting for these.   Will you know if these will run on bitminter.com  java client as plug n play.

I could  sell 1000 on ebay  at a fair price and  if they run on bitminter's java client as plug n play.      I sold around 1000 am sticks on ebay and my of my buyers want to use these 2x furies  on bitminter.com as a plug n play unit. just like an am stick

this is my ebay feedback  you can see I sold lots of sticks to happy buyers.

Have you had problems with Ebay or Paypal? I keep reading about Paypal accounts being closed and funds held for doing bitcoin related business. I have done some small time reselling on Ebay as well but I'm considering getting out because of the horror stories I keep reading.
545  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FBI Seizes DPR's personal coins! 144,000 coins! on: October 27, 2013, 05:57:57 PM
From the U.S. Attorney’s Office announcement:
https://www.fbi.gov/newyork/press-releases/2013/manhattan-u.s.-attorney-announces-seizure-of-additional-28-million-worth-of-bitcoins-belonging-to-ross-william-ulbricht-alleged-owner-and-operator-of-silk-road-website

Quote
ULBRICHT’s residence was also searched on October 1, 2013, pursuant to a search warrant, and federal law enforcement agents conducting that search found several pieces of computer hardware belonging to ULBRICHT (collectively, along with ULBRICHT’s laptop, the “computer hardware”).  Through forensic analysis of the computer hardware, federal law enforcement agents recovered a Bitcoin wallet containing approximately 144,336 Bitcoins.

Flash drives?

Probably. Obviously Ulbricht's security measures weren't very strong. By default I would think any wallets would at least be encrypted with a unique key...that's pretty much "protect your btc 101"

It took ~3 weeks to transfer the coins if they were confiscated on October 1st. Probably not enough to break any encryption even with a weaker password. Means they probably got the password from someplace else he used it. I wonder what else uses that key...

Well that's certainly a nice take for them.  What a profitable venture that was.

Yeah no kidding...170k BTC already in hand from the SR seizure? That's about 1.5% of all BTC in existence from just one court case. Imagine Seizing 1.5% of all USD in circulation lol.
548  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FBI Seizes DPR's personal coins! 144,000 coins! on: October 27, 2013, 11:41:12 AM
I don't see anything that proves they actually have cracked any encryption. For all we know they just have a wallet.dat file with no key.

They couldn't move the coins without the key. And they obviously did move...Anyways here is the official FBI press release from Friday. Straight from their site:

I don't know if you guys are aware but ASICMiner is now providing a 49 port usb hub powered by an atx psu. It comes free with a purchase of 50 AM sticks. They are shipping this week. Since its already designed to handle a direct PSU connection I imagine providing enough current for these miners wouldn't be difficult.
550  Local / Mining (India) / Re: asic MINER BLADES on: October 25, 2013, 08:49:12 PM
I take back what I said. These guys are a SCAM. Just do a quick search and you'll see what I mean. They are just a bad scam. They are so bad it made me think it might be real. I realized that they offered miners other than blades if you navigate their site...one look at that little case thing they have posing as an ASIC miner and I lol'ed. Also found this:

Canary, did I make the shipment?

 Cool
I'll drop off yours before 7 PM today Smiley no worries.
I live in China, where can I order these products more locally?
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=270573.0

Also, I'll have the 49 port hubs available on Monday.  they will be included with orders of 50 USBs.

Yes this is excellent and very surprising news. How is it powered? Can it provide .5 amps to each port?
552  Local / Mining (India) / Re: asic MINER BLADES on: October 25, 2013, 12:54:51 PM
That site looks fake, the current price for blades (new) is 1.1 btc PLUS shipping. Nobody gives free shipping worldwide. If they had cc/pp option one could consider...

These are older models so why shouldn't they be slightly cheaper? Besides it says they only have 22 of them. Probably just trying to liquidate. It says they also accept bank transfers. I highly doubt they would try and scam somebody by accepting a direct wire transfer. If it was a scam they would only accept bitcoin.
553  Economy / Speculation / Re: Crash! on: October 25, 2013, 12:43:49 AM
I don't understand this thread, at all.

I know, I know, trolls gonna troll.

Some of them are just really, really bad at it.  Embarrassed

You aren't a real troll until you have your own troll (like reality4you on r/bitcoin)

I don't know why you think its trolling. The price fell by $50 in minutes. Its still down by $30. Thats a ~13% drop.

Now look at trade volume. A bunch of buyers bought the price back above $200 and its been hovering there with minimal volume for about a day. Its still an inflated price. I doubt it will collapse back to $150 but all its going to take is a few panickers and we are on the way down again.

I emailed a former economics professor of mine who is a bitcoin enthusiast. He explained that he thought this was "RR Reversal" or more commonly called "Risk Reversal" by a small group of major bitcoin investors. Its a strategy to protect themselves in case of a downward trend. It also commonly causes very sudden pullbacks on rapidly rising stocks...or in this case bitcoin. Anywhere from 10-25% usually.

I know there are lots of threads about hubs, but what the heck would we use for 50 sticks that's both cost effective and reliable...  5x 10 port hubs etc?

Even without hubs these bad boys are barely able to break even any more...  Add hubs to the mix and you're really screwed.

I think people stopped caring about ROI since last few months :-)

Not everybody mines bitcoin with them either Wink
555  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ZET] Zetacoin - SHA256 coin - Pools up - Quick confirmations on: October 24, 2013, 03:46:37 PM
Hi, Zetacoin people.  I have a few simple questions:

Do I need to add a zetacoin.conf to run the wallet, or is that just for mining?

Located 3 versions of the wallet on different sites.  Which is the latest one and do you know of any bad ones?

Are the developers getting along for this coin, or do they compete?

Thanks in advance for anyone brave and kind enough to respond.  Smiley

the .conf file is not necessary to run the wallet. Its basically just a file for users to input extra variables. For example the "addnode" command can be used in that file.

As for the correct version I assume the one linked by the OP is probably the most recent. I don't know of any "bad" versions but I would stick to using the one posted by the OP.

The developers for this coin appear to be non-existent. Giskard gets on here and makes some comments from time to time but there have been no major modifications to the original code and as far as I know there are no plans to make any major changes.

the only other 49 port hub on the market is $600+   so i wouldnt have my hopes up for a free hub....

Yeah I agree...To fully power 49 ports is no simple task and most likely will require a dedicated PSU connection instead of the usual power adapter brick. My random uneducated guess is that any hub they make will be $200 minimum. I highly doubt we will be getting them for free just for ordering sticks.
557  Economy / Speculation / Re: Crash! on: October 24, 2013, 03:11:29 PM
Since most of you don't think this is a real crash...why do you think that? What is supporting the price above $200 besides speculation? I have heard nothing from anybody to suggest that the rise over the last few days is permanent. Its going to drop again. Watch.

559  Economy / Speculation / Re: Crash! on: October 24, 2013, 12:47:51 PM
I think it will stabilize in $150 - $170.

Seems to have stopped around $200 for the time being. I think its temporary. An attempt to return the price to "normal" by major buyers but there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of support outside of that for this price... Its going down again guys.
560  Economy / Speculation / Re: Crash! on: October 24, 2013, 06:26:04 AM
*Sees "Mt. Gox Market Data"*

/thread

Still Down despite the surge in recent minutes Smiley

Only a temp buy back in my opinion. I may be wrong but the market doesn't lie...$200 is an inflated price at this point in time. Just look at the trade volume. A hard crash followed by a minuscule rebound. Its going to drop again. This surge is based almost entirely on Chinese Speculation.
