I'm getting 0.10 for the below tagline *at least till i'm sure gaw and paycoin is a scam then i have to dump it) ...so that was
an easy 0.60 btc for last 6 months or so (as of jan 1st) (got it when gaw was a miner place heh) for the last 6 months.....

If you are OK advertising for someone who in your own words is probably a scam,
I think your KnC situation is just reward.

Add to that your often repeated statements about being forced into legal mining status,
and it's clear what side of the line you reside on.

You seem not to care who gets fucked in the process as long as you get yours.
(which is not really yours if 'you' can be believed)

What baffles me is that you did not get the memo about discression.
You negate you own victim status in the eyes of many.

What do you have left???
'just your excellent track record with BFL & KnC'

BTW, compiling bfgminer or cgminer on the Hoopiter is documented in the OC thread.
Go read... you don't even have to comprehend most of it if you can simply follow directions.

Is the Titan PCB the exact same as the Neptune PCB but with a different ASIC installed?
43  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: November 25, 2014, 06:48:24 AM
Try changing the voltage/speed of the others? I have some KNC gear that would act like that and required I actually raise the speed of the bum ones above stock, and in some cases lowering voltage. I've also noticed sometimes neighboring DC's if running too high, would shut down the bum ones. Almost seemed as if they were pulling current away from them.

Thanks for the tips, I'll try that. Can't raise clocks above stock, though. 300MHz is the highest selectable speed.

I found a config file in the Titan SD image that had a preconfigured max speed of 475Mhz for the Titan.  To overclock the Titan edit waas.c, recompile and install.

Edit: /home/pi/knc-asic/waas/waas.c

Change this line from 300 to 475:

Code:
#define MAX_DIE_FREQ_TITAN              475

Then:

Code:
cd /home/pi/knc-asic/
make raspberry
cp waas/waas /usr/bin/

Next time you restart bfgminer the advanced page will have selectable speeds up to 475 mhz.

FYI: I had a titan cube overclocked to 400Mhz and was getting about 100Mh/s but the hashrate slipped down quickly over time (even though dcdc's were fine). Not sure why, temps were decentsand everything was working fine.

Might try again at some point.

Note if you are overlocking you had better have damn good connections at the PSU and the Titan.  The one I was overclocking was soldered directly to the Titan cube using TWO high quality 6x PCI-E connections (NOT the cheap square pins with the split down the middle).

Anyone have any luck with overcloking? I have now soldered on the power cables after haveing all my cubes turn the pci-e connectors brown. Tried this with 1.11 and can choose up to 475MHz, but whatever I choose above 325MHz, it is not setting the frequency.

Maybe there is some other files that needs to be changed aswell?

The FPGA on the controller quietly ignores clocks above whatever "IT" has programmed as maximum.
The file that is programmed into the FPGA is
spimux.rbf
It is a proprietary Altera format that is not readily reverse engineered.

There is a possibility that the
spimux.rbf
from a neptune would work on a Tit.
If it did you could go to 500 if there was enough power.
(the problem with the Nep is there is no power even if you did manage to set it higher)

You could also end up with a bricked controller!

Is ok 2 psu 850 watt each one for 1 Titan??
Gold
The above is all when using 120V input, because, uh...well, because my kill-a-watt power meter only works on 120V.

Wanna know a secret? Your kill-a-watt also works on 240v, you just need to make the female end of your 240v line 5-15R.  Grin

'zat so?  This one like is pictured here?

http://www.p3international.com/products/p4400.html

I thought for sure that mine would kaboom if I tried that, but I may give that idear some more thought now...

Think it thru first.
The 120VAC killawatt is designed for the neutral and ground pins to BOTH be at ground.
The large pin on 120VAC plug is neutral BTW.
If I were to try this I would only run one 240VAC wire thru the killawatt.
(either 240 wire, both wires are HOT and you only need one wire to measure current)
If you run both 240VAC wires thru the killawatt the ground pin on the killawatt 'might' end up HOT and be a potential shock hazard.

It's doable, just not a good first project with 240VAC!

Hi Guys/Gals,

Got my titan today that was preordered unfortunately. However I am currently having some issues with the miner.

Symptoms:

1. Controller only boots and displays IP when there are no cubes connected
2. If any single cube is connected to the controller it refuses to boot

I also bought a new SD card and also tried switching around the cables. But the controller still refuses to boot once a cube is connected to it. Any advice or suggestions ?

Don't panic. (I'm not suggesting you are)
Test each item seperately with other known good parts.
Subdivide and conquor.

Triple check that the cables are plugged into the cube properly.
It is possible to mis-allign that end of the cable during assembly.
I use very bright light and a magnifyer to help my old tired eyes.

One thing worse than getting a bad cube is RMAing a good cube.

He's a cheeky little blighter talking about breach of contract like that …

I've said it before - KNC is acting like refunding Titan customers is an existential threat. That's one reason why I don't think they are doing as well as people believe.

I agree they appear to be in cash flow crisis.
That they have not met undisputed obligations (Nep refunds) is telling.
Some folks have been waiting 7 months.

A wierd thought tangent...
If their DC was 66% efficient,
they would need 50,000 20nm ASIC
to build out a 30MW DC from scratch.
(36,000 @ 20nm if existing 10MW is all 28nm)

Have installation/heatsink issues been eliminated as a cause for bad die on Titan?

The reports of deterioration over a week could be loose screws backing out or bad goo.

I know many Nepturds were poorly assembled.
I had stripped case screws and crooked heatsink issues.
Many of us just did what it takes, censor the useless warranty.

49  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: How can I send data directly to an Antminer u2 and receive sha256 hash back? on: November 01, 2014, 10:46:01 AM
I'm trying to use the Antminer U2 as a fast SHA256 hash generator.  I would like to send my own original data and receive an output of it's sha256 hash.

Is there an API or other information somewhere on how to get direct access to the Antminer's functions?

smith2199

An ASIC is not required for SHA256 hash creation.
'Creating' the hash is not as computationally intense as testing it.

There are programs for a PC with a CPU that will do it.
There is even javascript code that runs locally in a browser that will do it.

Google 'create your own BTC wallet/address' or some such.

I was digging around blockchain and I've come to the conclusion that KNC did actually dump $40m worth of bitcoins on the market.

Here are addresses owned by KNC:

1H1sq6Msgt9HjRrBuz8ieZdThzWXS6oPVA (knc in the coinbase.)
1A73ExsM2doRwTLp82rv5U36QHbBFmHD1X (knc in the coinbase)
1Nbq2XZaRsKknf5fcT2wTXvBS31PaUWSeX (KNC mining at eligius)
1D5FhoiuLMJJ43BCMGidwvbKWfr71g1vH9 (another eligius address)

Combined they have mined ~82,000 btc.

From the mining addresses the BTC is then sent to a few consolidation wallets the largest of which is 1CU8DYQxwBfq7UTWdopxsodimYwZMVXcbh

From there it looks like just about all the BTC is sent to exchange wallets.

Are BTC payments for hardware included in the 82,000 BTC?

I'm curious, are there any former Neptune customers still waiting for refund?
52  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Swedish ASIC miner company kncminer.com on: October 28, 2014, 02:19:16 AM
My second batch Neptune only gets 2.2 terrahashes and refuses to show the advanced readouts page so I cannot tell how much of the shortfall is associated with which cube.

I have tried upgrading the firmare to the latest but still cannot get the advanced page to display.

Has anyone else had trouble getting to the "advanced" page? If so, did you ever eventually get the page?

Any tips on how to get disabled dies/cores enabled again on neptunes.
Got one neptune which is very stubborn even after upgrades / downgrades reboots the die's still won't come up.

--SNIP--

Haven't had the chance yet to power down the full cubes yet as they are on a remote site.
Know previously we had a script to enable all cores again with a reboot by using a script on jupiters.
Not sure if there is any for neptunes?

It is my experience that the DC/DC on a Nep can lock up.
This requires you to power cycle the ASIC PCB to recover the DC/DC converters.
I have OCCASIONALLY had success with a "Triple waas with a full twist"
(hunt thru my posts if interested)

I think the lock up and failure to recover are related to the way kfc powers the communications.
They changed the communications circuitry on the 20nm products.
This change IMneverHO is part of the problem.

First they blamed the GE VRMs and switched to Ericsson.
The new ones don't sing loudly, they go silent and cold instead.

If a cube works for a while then develops issues over time,,,
Check the heatsinks (learn how if you must, takes less time than an RMA)
My Nep instability is usually temp related.

The irony, IMneverHO, is they could have used 12 VRM per PCB and shipped 4 ASIC Neptune.
Their decision not too requires 25% more ASIC to fill existing orders.
An ASIC must cost lots less than 8 VRM else they would have...
kfc does an 'own goal' at everyones expense.

Very interesting. I'm using a faster than class 10 card (UHS-1), a SanDisk Extreme Pro 32GB. As a Linux noob, should I just reboot the Titan every ~5 days or so? Or should I attempt to figure out how to disable the swap partition?

I suggest keep an eye on 'top'.
In particular the "KiB Mem:" line.
Reboot before 'free' reaches zero.

I made my observation on just 2 snapshots and noticed increased RAM usage.
It might level off in which case there is a different cause of SD corruption.

Next on the list is lack of resources.
Any load level above 1.0 is sub optimal.
Even OC'd there is a bottleneck.

I would definately NOT always have a web page open on the miner.
I'd consider not always having 'screen' running.
I'd also only run 'top' when I was gonna look, it uses resources too.

Disclaimer: I have no Titan but I do dabble with RPi on occasion.
I have also been using Linux for over 20 years.
Back in the days of expensive RAM, swap problems were on most peoples radar.

I think the SD corruption is caused by 'swap' partition.

Based on 2 screenshots, 2 days apart, by Prelude above, one 'might' determine...
The miner has a slow RAM leak.
I'd guess 6-8 days till it runs out of RAM
(based on the tiny sample of 2 screenshots)

If/when it runs out of RAM it starts using the swap partition for RAM storage.

With a fast 'spinning platter' hard disk swapping RAM to disk destroys performance.

With swap on an SD card expect worse performance.
Using an SD for swap could be expected to kill the SD card also.
IMneverHO

If it were mine I would eliminate the swap partition and learn to live with available RAM.
I'd consider it better that the miner just stop and reboot when RAM is exhausted.
I doubt it would keep mining anyways because swap is too slow to use as RAM.
At least it would restart without SD corruption.

A class 10 SDcard might help but they were not designed for random access usage.

How much more of a jump is it to go from 475Mhz to 500Mhz on a Neptune, I know I do about 3.4TH/s at 475Mhz but I am not sure how many TH I can do at 500Mhz?

At 500MHz, 3.6TH/s would be 'perfect'.

I get 3.55

RE: cooling the PSUs

I just use a $20 3 speed 8" A/C fan per 2 PSU, never had a cooling issue.
The fans were on middle setting for >90F ambient summer cooling.
Recently down to 'low' super quiet. Smiley

I follow the school of thought that pushing is preferred to pulling air for cooling.
Compressed air can carry more heat away. (in theory)
I also prefer lower tone of fans pushing.

One must inspect and in some cases clean the insides of dirt.
Some are pretty clean and some have gunk in there...

RE: DPS-1600 and DPS-1800 W PSUs
I can confirm the 1800 and 2000 work equally.
I'd expect the 1600 to also work.

I wouldn't mix different watt PSU on a 'combined' 12VDC rail though.

In USA,
I got some nice ones from sidehack @ Gekkoscience.com

Freaking illegal and unethical (In the Swedish business climate) as hell of KnC to declare the value of Neptunes to USD 1.000 when they´re bought for USD 9.995

You have it exactly backwards.
Based on earlier posts they are only doing that $1000 cost for the 'bonus' miners.
They should be valued @ 0 since # 1 was valued @ 9,995 when it should have been 4,9997 or some such.

You are suggesting the customers owe tax/customs on $20,000 for 2 miners.
The tax/customs on a free miner should be free.

If you are gonna behave like a sock puppet you could at least be accurate.
There are plenty of things to bitch about without making them up.

To ship a miner that cost USD 3.995 in their webstore at that moment and declare the value as USD 1.000 is illegal.
There´s no "price should be", ask Skatteverket.

If it is as you say, and they are now doing that, I retract reason for 'sock puppet' snipe.
They are doing something that benifits the customer at zero customer risk.
Can't have that...

They did declare some @ 10k and some bonus customers are not happy to have to pay any more.
Thats where my 4997 figure came from.
