681  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Cooperative mining (640Ghash/s) on: June 03, 2011, 06:45:17 PM
I finally have response from Linode guys, they decided to raise limits for pool significantly. Unfortunately it need balancer restart to take effect, so expect short outage.

This should solve stale rate and RPC errors (but today's errors were caused by database error, which is already solved).

EDIT: Great, looks like that annoying packet loss is solved! (0% in 2000 requests)
Just want to say thank you Slush, the connection stability and overall responsiveness has been greatly increased  Smiley
There are still some issues with idle miners, but it is a lot better then before.
682  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Can't cashout on: June 03, 2011, 01:27:02 PM
Did you search for your transaction in the link I posted above?

If you didn't have the bitcoin client open, dont worry, open it and wait for the blockchain to finish downloading and you should see your transaction.

But, that looks a very small amount, so I think it will be very low priority and could take some several hours to complete.

8 5870's on that mobo and you're running risk of blowing the fsb.  Shocked

Also, Windows is supposedly capped at 4 gpus, use linux, especially if this is a dedicated rig paid for by shareholders.
687  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BTC Guild - 0% Fees, Long polling, SSL, JSON API, and more [~500 gH/sec] on: June 03, 2011, 11:06:17 AM
Still having huge problems with idle miners and disconnects, even using -q 3 flag doesn't help. Though I never had this problem before.

Will check back in several hours, thanks for all the great work you do on the pool  Wink

Slush is a great pool, also btcguild is good.
689  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining on 40 computers on: June 03, 2011, 02:35:13 AM
Not worth it, you will make virtually nothing and is it worth risking your university placement for a few coins?
690  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Cooperative mining (640Ghash/s) on: June 03, 2011, 12:59:16 AM
Update: Talking with Linode support, we reached some soft limits on network layer. I'm negotiating rising of those limits, which should fix packetloss and timeouts. Stay tuned...
Good to hear Slush, we love you  Grin
691  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: $2000 on a new super rig or add more graphics cards to current on: June 03, 2011, 12:54:01 AM
power usage, heat, noise... these are all irrelevant to me. My aim is to mine enough coins so that 2-3 months down the line, if the price hits $20 or over i have a nice payout. I want to aim at least 1.5 Ghash maybe 2 if poss
In that case, seriously don't bother buying a rig. You will get more coins for your money buying them directly now and sitting on them.
692  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: BitCoin Millionaires...other than Sotoshi... on: June 03, 2011, 12:08:00 AM
looked that bitcoin when it was 30 cents.... that was back in march. I wanted to invest 40% of my savings in it. then all the sudden it went to 60some cents. Anyway I procrastinated for about 2 months tripping on putting money into Jed's account... WHo is Jed?

Finally I did when it it 1.20... then it went to 1.80... I thought it would go down...but it didnt...

I bought 8KBTC @ 1.60 - 2.00... then kept buying till 4...

Sold all at 8...

Bought back in at 9.x yesterday.. Holding these babies... That was a mistake to sell!!!

Disclosure...

Proud owner of 10.5K BTC....

AND LOVING IT!

693  Bitcoin / Mining / When to go solo? on: June 02, 2011, 07:57:58 PM
When would you say is a good time to go solo.
Interested in hearing your stories of luck and misfortune, especially when compared to your estimates.
How do you feel given the current difficulty level and are you considering joining a pool in the future if difficulty levels continue to rise at a large %?

696  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Cooperative mining (640Ghash/s) on: June 02, 2011, 02:18:52 PM
Long polling upgrade is long overdue in my opinion and very much needed.
I have 35ms ping to servers and this is an average day:
[6003 Accepted] [442 Rejected]
[3373 Accepted] [230 Rejected]
[3352 Accepted] [252 Rejected]
[3290 Accepted] [241 Rejected]
[3411 Accepted] [224 Rejected]

698  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Power saving graphic chip? may lower the cost? on: June 02, 2011, 03:32:33 AM
How would you get these laptop gpus onto a normal mobo?
699  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: gpu-watch: dynamic GPU temperature monitoring and fan control on: June 02, 2011, 03:14:36 AM
This is an excellent script and I have been testing it, but I have found a problem.
If I stop the load on my gpu the script continues to lower my temps until the fan is 0% and it keeps trying to lower it further.
When the load is applied back onto my cards the temp rises very fast, like 30C straight up to 80C before the script has changed the fan speed above 20%.

Is there anyway to code this to use a fan profile system similar to other popular fan control software?

5850, you should be able to get near on 400mhs with that cooler and a decent overclock.
