First it was 0.22, then 0.58, now 12 BTC. ROFL. Users of this forum doesn't lend bitcoins to a newbie without a collateral. So you better get a collateral which is worth a little more than 12BTC or you'll be wasting your time.

Scheming at some corner of a room, I'd guess. Last I heard he was filing lots of blockchain patents, but that was months ago. Wasn't he supposed to reveal something that would shake the Bitcoin world and cement the proof that the was Satoshi Nakamoto?
He did reveal something. Failed at the proving part though.

You can already do it using signrawtransaction. If you're wondering how they should look like, check this page. Or just enter either code in the console (Help > Debug window > Console).

You mean a site that allows you to "buy" shares and let them (not you) use it to mine for you? That kind of sites are called cloud mining sites and most of those sites may scam you sooner or later. I'd recommend not to invest in any of them. ...But if you really want to, at least search for the name of the site on this forum for any report of them being scam before investing. This thread is a good place to start, but don't rely on the first post alone as it was last updated a year ago.

Firstly, I'm afraid I don't know what pruned mode is and I doubt I would know how to run it. At the moment my priority is to remove Bitcoin and hopefully all the data from my laptop. I don't need to use it as a wallet for the time being. I am not using any Bitcoins right now, so I dont need access to them.
But I do have some and so in the future I hope to buy a larger faster pc or laptop, reinstall Core or perhaps find a different program... and thus recover my Bitcoins. My understanding was that all I really need to keep is that wallet.dat file - because I can always download the blockchain again.
Have you deleted them yet? If not then: Making core run in pruned mode is very easy and it'll save you the trouble of re-downloading in the future. Just rune core with -prune=550. 550 is the disk space in megabyte (can be increased, can't be lower than 550) that bitcoin core will use for raw block and undo data. Wallet.dat is the only thing you need to backup if you're going to delete bitcoin core.

i currently use the standalone wallet 2.6.4
i am wanting to upgrade to 2.7.11, do i just down load a new standalone? does it referance the already created wallet.dat in Appdata or does it create its own?
Yes, just download and open the new standalone executable. It'll open and upgrade your old wallet. Make sure you save the seed beforehand (it should be safe but just in case). Note that the upgraded old wallet can't be opened using electrum versions older than 2.7.x.

I started receiving e-mail spam to a unique randomly generated mail address that I have only used to register on Bitcointalk. Since my address is set to private ("hide from public"), the database / server might have a security problem somewhere. Admins, could you please check if there's been any suspicious activity? Does anyone else have evidence for a possible data leak?
Old news. There was a hack last year and a hacker got quite a huge chunk (if not all) of the forum's database. It has been floating around the internet for a while now. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1642823.0

If you have the seed you should be able to recover your wallet. What do you mean by bitstamp (timestamp misspelled?)? What wallet did you use?

hello
I am using Electrum just from few days ago.I didn't find any option to send bitcoin to multiple address in one transaction. Is it possible to send bitcoin to multiple address in one transaction from electrum wallet?
Thank you in advance.
Yes, it's possible. In the "pay to" box insert the list of the addresses you wish to send to and a comma and the amount at the end of each address, for example: address1, 0.1 address2, 0.5 address3, 0.4

No I don't know cointopal.com before you mentioned it. But I know the owner is suspected to be the infamous serial scammer moriartybitcoin. See their announcement thread. Your money is probably gone.

For firefox, CTRL + "-" or "+" will make things smaller/larger on one site. Not sure about other browsers but you probably can find them on google.

Don't have PS4 or Xbox so I have to wait for the PC version... ._. 10 years of development, and replacing almost everything (Stella!), this better be good.

I tried the hex thing, thank you for the tip. It just states transaction already exists?
Yes. If a site you pushed the tx to have dropped it it'll get added back to their mempool (and they will relay it). If they haven't dropped it then nothing happens and you'll get that message. Also I miss-typed something in my previous post, I'll just post it here so you don't miss it. You can also try sending the unconfirmed transaction bitcoins with higher fees than usual (if you're unsure what fee to include please post the txID).
|
|
|
also looking on Blockchain info it says the transaction fee is lower than recommended? Will that stop the transaction? It does state it's high priority though.
No it won't stop the transaction. In the first place there's no way to stop a transaction. You can let the network forget about a transaction on its own, but you can't stop it. As said above, the bitcoins will be returned to the sender's wallet if it doesn't get included in a block for a long time. To prevent this you need to push the hex from time to time using the sites listed here. To get the hex of a transaction just view it in blockchain.info and add "?format=hex" at the end of the URL (example: blockchain.info/tx/ yourtxid?format=hex). You can also try sending the unconfirmed transaction with higher fees than usual (if you're unsure what fee to include please post the txID). Or contact the users I mentioned here.

I think it was a low transaction fee. The current average is around 90 to 100 satoshi per bytes. I wouldn't worry too much about it. It should be confirmed soon. Next time, just put a higher transaction fee, especially for a decent sum of BTC like 0.11.
The fee required doesn't increase with the sum of BTC. In fact the priority gets higher with the sum.

Hi Guys, I have a transaction I sent via my electrum wallet and it's coming up 24hrs unconfirmed, I just let it choose the fee and have never had an issue before, can someone please look at the transaction, does it look like the fee is too low? https://blockchain.info/tx/6a9a22627d4bd59756a6150d4c32f0e15c76008a2928cf1082f002a6ae30030fI was using an old version of Electrum without the RBF option so I don't know how to resend with a higher fee if that is the issue. I have the new version of Electrum now. Yes, it's too low. The fee is 50satoshi/byte and the recommended fee (according to https://bitcoinfees.21.co/) is 100satoshi/byte. I'm almost sure that it'll be confirmed in less than 24 hours. No guarantee though.
|
|
|
I have a questions also does the confirmation of transactions affected by the increasing bitcoin value? We're already in 675 USD.
No. It's possible that the increased value will also increase the number of transactions indirectly, but there's no way to know if it's really because of that or not. I mean, we've had transaction spikes without any specific reasons.

Yesterday, I forwarded a few coins into a service I regularly use. I usually pay the same fee, and it kicks in without a hitch, most of the time it only takes an hour to confirm but this time, it has taken almost 24 hours and still no confirmation. I've had this problem before, but that was on the past year when stress testing on the network was happening. Aside from the fee I've inputted in there (which usually does the job whenever I send some coins), what are the other factors that helps it to be not confirmed in the chain? Are there any methods to double spend it or reverse the said tx? The fees are low. It's 22 satoshi per byte and the recommended is 110 per byte. If you ask me I'd say you're very lucky if you've sent a tx with that kind of fees lately and always get a confirmation in a hour. So I have to ask, are you sure you're not mistaking 0.00005 BTC for 0.0005 BTC? Tx fees required to get fast confirmation changes all the time according to the number of unconfirmed transactions currently waiting in the mempool, and the size of your transaction.

Ok so ur advice is to wait 2-3 days?
That or contact the 2 users to help you. Personally I'd just wait though. What will happen when it gets dropped out? Will the two transactions disapear from my tx list in Electrum? Yes.
|
|
|
Okay thank you wrote them a message, downloading Bitcoin Core atm, how long does a drop out of my tx from the network take?
2 to 3 days would do as long as no one rebroadcasts the tx every now and then. Is Electrum rebroadcasting the tx? How can I avoid that? Electrum doesn't, Bitcoin Core does. Anyone can rebroadcast, so if you're sending bitcoins to someone they can do it IF they want and know how to.
