901  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BITMAIN Tech WARRANTY SCAM ! WILL NOT REPLACE DEAD ANTMINER S9 on: September 28, 2016, 12:56:55 PM
For those wanting to return boards to Hong Kong I suggest you email support@bitmain.com before you do so. They will run through some troubleshooting steps then if that doesn't work they will send you the very specific documentation on how to return the board. I suggest you read it. You will also have a ticket number to reference in the future.

FYI the instructions they send you are here: https://cnshop.bitmain.com/workOrderGuide.htm

Packing guide here: https://youtu.be/Z0LdykALhxI

But I still recommend you open a ticket with support first.

If anyone has shipped a board back to Bitmain via Hong Kong and nothing much seems to be happening, its worth while emailing Bitmain support with your tracking details and ticket number to "remind" them to update their systems.

For the price of a polite email its worth doing before you get too hot under the collar and fire off one less tactful Smiley

With all my dealings with them its worth while keeping the lines of communication open yourself and being polite and reasonable wherever possible.
904  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: September 15, 2016, 06:22:18 PM
What they should do is drop the price AND offer a 1 year warranty.

Somehow I think they have been caught short with the R4, I think it cost more to develop and they have made short runs of them and are surprised at the lack of interest, I think they are pulling them off the site and putting them back up as and when they think they might sell a few but its not been the hot seller they hoped.

Hopefully this is not wishful thinking on my part Smiley and they will wake up, smell the coffee and offer the R4 for below $800 and the S9 for below $1000

Looking at my pool stats it appears miner #2 has lost a board Sad

Will ssh in  and check when I get home.

Phew, whole thing stopped hashing. rebooted and all ok.

Dropped the frequency down on the remaining units a tad.

Hopefully sending faulty board off for rma tomorrow.

Good to see you got one of yours back Phil!

Anyone got a video of one in action? Would be great to hear what the noise levels are like.

@Biffa

You can send in S5, S5+, S7 and S9 for repair by fee to Denver, USA location.  Its all depends on the damage and what is needed for the repair.  There is no flat repair fee as each case is different.

If you send in the unit that has original warranty remaining, there still be a fee for the repair, or you can send them to Hong Kong and request warranty service from Hong Kong. (usually the repair expense is cheaper than total expense and lost mining time you may experience when you send it to Hong Kong)

If you use BitmainWarranty.com as your repair solution with the unit that has original remaining warranty period, your remainder of the warranty period, be eligible to be serviced from USA or 30 days from the repair shipout date from Denver, whichever the longest.

If the unit is purchased from Bitmainwarranty.com site, then you will have option of receiving full warranty service within USA, Russia, Ukraine, Venezuela or EU Region.  (EU customers will have the same 90-day localized warranty with up to 2 years of repair parts availability guaranteed)

REPAIR SERVICE REQUEST from BitmainWarranty.com does not need a full form be filled.  Simple email to support@bitmainwarranty.com and you will receive a ticket number in response.  (Please include a piece of paper with the TICKET Number and possibly write down the number at the bottom of the box outside)

*damages from poor packaging or damages in transit, we can not be responsible for the loss. Please package each PCB with 4-6 wrap around and separate each PCB with cardboard in between, so no PCB heat sink hits each other while in transit.  (Also, if you are in Venezuela, heavy duty PCB packaging box with bubble wrap is available for purchase, or you can ship them to Merida, Venezuela and it will be re-packaged and then send to USA for repair and returned to you via Local DHL delivery.  (This method may save you the damage in transit risk, however, it may take a few days longer in total transit time as we consolidate shipment)

Can you give a rough idea of cost for a S9 board that completely stops hashing? Ball park.. $10 to $200?

Cant really compare cost of time/mining loss vs shipping to Hong Kong if we don't have any idea of cost.

e.g. what would the repair cost be if the board is not able to be repaired and needs to be replaced?

Thanks for getting back to me here.
910  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: My warranty adventure with my s-9. on: September 04, 2016, 10:21:26 AM
Got an email from yoshi  they should be sending me a replacement  will give me tracking ,

I will post on this when I get tracking.

Are you going to be expected to pay?

On first board I think I am paying shipping from NJ to Colorado and back to NJ. Total of 50 usd.

Second board has not arrived it had no visible marks. tracking says they will get it on the first of sept.

So maybe that will be a just shipping deal also.

Sorry Phil, that's not quite clear for me, can you elaborate?

I thought bitmainwarranty only did chargeable repairs/replacements, primarily for out of warranty situations.

Are you saying that all you are paying is the postage and they are replacing/repairing the boards free of charge within bitmains warranty period?

Is this service available to anyone in the US?

Thanks

I want to open a repair ticket to bitmaintech for by dead board, where can I get the SN and Cert No ?

Best to email support@bitmain.com and they will then send you the details of what to do, some forms on the site can only be filled in after you ship your part back.

Mines up, apparently the board lights up but its all xx's

913  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: August 25, 2016, 07:54:47 AM
Looks like one of mine has a dead middle board. All x's

Tried lowering frequency to 575 but no luck, it comes up as o's but won't hash, then after a while goes to x's

This is a long shot, but what pool are you pointing at?

I mined on Zpool briefly but ran into a problem where the pool was serving up an extremely low difficulty of 64. It would hash for a while then one of the blades would fall over and show all x's.

At first I thought it might be frequency related and lowered my rate. I also tried setting a minimum difficulty. But it kept happening. Then several other people with S9s complained about the same thing on the Zpool thread, so I figured it was a pool problem.

I gave up and went back to Kano's pool (should never have left) and it's been fine ever sense.

I only mine on kano.is with ck's solo as a backup. Units are hosted so its going to be physically checked. These are the latest batch just had them up and running a for around 48 hours.

Anyone knows some Antminer S9 Monitors ??
I had M miner Monitor with the S7 but it doesn't recognize the s9 Sad

Second Question of same category:

I have all my miners with a hosting company and work individually with my miners remotely through a vpn.  Is there a dashboard that I can view my critical information without having to remote onto each miner?

See my signature. There is a free solution but it needs network access to the machines.
916  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [lee group]1150$! The group buy of hosted bitmain S7 @4.73T online on 27th Jan!! on: August 19, 2016, 10:16:48 AM
Hey Lee,

Any chance you are going to host S9's aswell and try to negotiate a decent price with Bitmain for them?
I am interested in having a few of them and I have always enjoyed hosting my miners with you when I had them.

No he is out of that game now. Best everyone take whatever offer you can get and look elsewhere now.

in America nobody (well, almost nobody) knows what GMT is...so GMT+8 means something close to nothing
however, google helps... Smiley
it is 8am pacific, 10am central and 11am eastern, correct

1. bitcointalk.org is not America  Tongue
2. Surely if someone can't work out the time from the OP/google/havingabrain then too bad they are too stupid to run a bitcoin miner Smiley

Its like an intelligence test

why so serious? it was just friendly banter...and TIC
yes, and bitfinex was also an intelligence test, and mt gox beforehand
maybe after a while not many people will qualify as being intelligent enough

don't you want to be as inclusive as possible?

Smileys hopefully indicated I was with you for the ride mate Smiley Just playful banter

Why are the links not on their official website? How do we know this legit? Or will it be placed on the official website soon?

Furthermore, in case it's legit, is the possibility to select units greyed out, because the units are already sold out, or is it because the option to select units is not available yet?

The answers are already in the thread.

But yes, legit, released here first for us nice forum types, and they are greyed out because they are not available till 11pm Beijing time.
