1081  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcointalk; a school on its own. on: July 02, 2023, 02:52:49 AM
Did Satoshi really use this present forum we are using today? I heard he only used the SMF version of the forum
We are still using the Bitcointalk with a SMF software. You will see this information at the bottom page.

A new forum software is Epochtalk.

Help to test Epochtalk
Epochtalk installation readme

The software is substantially complete. The main period of development was a while ago; the current work is mainly just maintenance & relatively minor improvements. Try running it yourself and you'll find that it's working, fast, and nearly feature-complete.

The things blocking a transition from the current software to the new software are:
 - There hasn't been enough testing. I think that immediately after transition, a variety of small missed features, bugs, and performance issues would crop up. As a result, if the transition happened now (which is technically possible!), I'd expect the post-transition user experience to be poor for months while these things are fixed, which I don't want.
 - I am the only bitcointalk.org sysadmin and on-demand programmer, and I'm used to the current software. Furthermore, I need to frequently make changes to the current software, but each change I make might require alterations to Epochtalk, which is problematic.
 - The current PHP software, while ugly and sub-optimal in many ways, performs well, especially since I have extensively modified the backend to add features and improve performance. So I don't feel much urgency.
 - The data-transition procedure still has a few known minor bugs.

We continue to work on these issues. I think that ultimately I may need to hire one or more full-time people, since a big problem is that the full transition is likely to create a ton of work which I won't be able to effectively handle alone.

The software is not vaporware (it's long existed in a runnable state, and is currently basically feature-complete), and is not abandoned (look at the git commit log). If anyone is unhappy with the progress, I invite them to take the Epochtalk code and create a competing forum with it; since they won't have to worry about the transition issues, they'd have a much easier time, and their testing will also end up helping us.

In short: If you want the software quicker, go run your own forum with it, and work to get any problems or missing features you find resolved via bug reports, etc. This would increase public interest, provide much-needed testing, and I might even hire you to work on bitcointalk.org when we're ready to do the final transition here.

maybe the popular bitcointalk launch thread was moved by theymos to this forum. I might be wrong altogether

1082  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is now a good time to buy BNB? on: June 30, 2023, 04:42:26 AM
Binance's native blockchain token (BNB) experienced a dip in price after the SEC fiasco. The exchange is facing heavy pressure by the US government regulatory agency. If Binance wins a lawsuit against the SEC, BNB's price could go all the way to the moon in an instant.
It won't end soon. The lawsuit between SEC and Ripple has been going some years and has yet ended. Will the lawsuit between Binance and SEC comes to the end sooner than the lawsuit of Ripple? I guess not.

Quote
But if it loses, BNB could experience new lows until it goes below the "triple digits".
It's uncertain as we are always uncertain about future. We never know what will happen with this market and BNB.

Quote
I'm wondering if now is the good time to buy BNB or should I wait a little bit more? The crypto market is still bearish, so we should expect further pressure against an altcoin like BNB in the short term. Who knows if BNB will reach higher prices in the future? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Smiley
I have my belief that BNB is still one of best altcoins for 2024 and 2025 bull run. I can be different than others but I will wait for a few months before halving in 2024 to accumulate BNB. I still feel some risks if I buy BNB in 2023 with a bear market. It's safer to buy it in a bull market even I will have to pay a higher entry cost.
1083  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Saudi Professional League 2023/2024 on: June 30, 2023, 01:56:46 AM
Maybe he didn't get the latest news, the latest news is that Marcelo Brozovic agrees with a salary offer of 25 million per season and now to the medical test stage

Anyway, next month Brozovic is officially introduced in front of Al Naasr supporters there should be no more obstacles.
Brozovic just made a good decision for rest of his career. Joining Saudi Professional League, becoming a team mate of Cristiano Ronaldo and enjoying very good salary without income tax in Saudi Arabia. It is a dream for him.

This salary is about x3 of his salary in Inter Milan in 2022 - 2023 season according to https://m.aiscore.com/salary/player-marcelo-brozovic-edq09ip5l5fmqxg

Quote
Barcelona is indeed interested in bringing Marcelo Brozovic but Barcelona is limited by financial problem so they don't continue the offer.
Barcelona won't be able to convince star players because they are less competitive in salary offer and we have to think that Barcelona did not play well in Champions League and Europa League last season. With old players like Brozovic, they will choose to move to clubs which can help they to win big titles or can give them very good salary.
1084  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Solana’s Cardinal to Shut Down its Operation this July on: June 30, 2023, 01:47:16 AM
It's not surprising to see such a closer of service since the NFT market is becoming more competitive and with the recent increase in the price of most assets in the year 2023 with bitcoin taking the lead.
Even Coinbase seriously failed with their NFT marketplace after spending millions of dollar for development.

Coinbase's NFT Marketplace Gains Fewer Than 150 Users in First Day Open to Public
Coinbase NFT Pauses New Collection Drops, Denies Shuttering Marketplace

With such low trading volume in last 7 days on Coinbase NFT Marketplace (only $8,388), what do you think Solana NFT marketplace will survive?
1085  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: North Carolina is pushing forward a bill to study holding Bitcoin on: June 30, 2023, 01:38:32 AM
The state house of North Carolina just passed a bill to study the idea of the state holding Bitcoin (as well as Gold).

If this bill gets passed, and North Carolina does indeed start holding Bitcoin
No, if the bill gets passed, North Carolina state will do their study, not start to hold Bitcoin.

From study to another bill to hold Bitcoin for the state is a long procedure which won't be finished quickly. You can have more reasons to buy Bitcoin without such news because a high hope you have with such news, a more disappointment you will have later.

Rather than playing your emotion with such news, let's focus on fundamentals of Bitcoin and do your investment plan.
1086  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: We All Know, The halving time will be full of drama on: June 29, 2023, 10:44:49 AM
I didn't expect market makers to fight back SEC the way they did when Blackrock announced that they have requested for Bitcoin ETF, on a normal day, the news wasn't supposed to make gains to bitcoin by $2k from any where the news was made public but I was more surprise they pushed Bitcoin price to over $30k
It's FOMO effect from uncertain news which is considered as positive but people will mostly be pulled back to realistic. Not all likely good news will turn to be real achievement, such news mostly causes hype and won't be converted to new achievement for Bitcoin communities.

If we already understand every flow that is created in every pre-halving and post-halving, we will actually respond to every decrease and increase in everything in a normal manner. And this is where the importance of knowledge about market sentiment and market fundamentals so that we can remain calm in every market situation.
Post-halving months are times when the market is already warmed up by a previous pre-halving months and people will FOMO with many good news and good parabolic rise of Bitcoin.

However we can not have a post-halving game if we don't have pre-halving times which can be many months, 2 or 3 years and we call those times as bearish market. It is very stressful and boring time but it is necessary for the growth after halving. Fundamentals like developments, products, upgrades, adoption are all prepared in bear market.
1087  Economy / Gambling / Re: Stake.com - The Leading Crypto Casino - Drake, UFC, Everton, Alfa Romeo F1 Team on: June 29, 2023, 10:32:11 AM
Then sorry to say, but such players who do not care about the growth of the casino but only care about the bonuses they hope to get from the casino are nothing but so selfish..
No free lunch and if a casino runs advertisements, they must want to gain something else. If they run promotion with bonuses, they do want to get something else from their current users or from new users who will open accounts on their casinos after reading active promotions with great bonuses.

If users can simply exploit bonuses from a casino, that casino will stop operations soon. It is not what Stake have run and gotten so far as they are very big casino and if they run their marketing many years, their business does operating well and their marketing programs brought good effects.

Quote
In as much as bonuses are still important to keep players playing, promotions, partnerships are still very important to increase the casinos popularity, reputation which will put the casino in a good position to win even more players over to the casino, the more there are several players playing and losing, the more there are much more bonuses available to distribute to qualified players.
Users will like bonuses and they will become loyal customers if a casino run multiple promotions in a long time. As players, they must gamble responsible to be able to bet in a long run. If they gamble too greedy, they will lose all money, get rekted after a few bets.

Believe it or not, players do not really care about such partnership deal as it gives no good effect for players. Some players may even think that new partnership deals, new ambassador, etc will affect the bonus given to them. What players want are more bonuses/promotions that make players stay as long as possible and better experience in the casino, so Stake should also think about it because having partnership with popular brands/people will not make players stay.
Partnership announcements are always cool but users will wait for later announcements to celebrate new partnership like promotions. Maybe some users don't care about such but most of users do care as who don't like giveaways, gifts from the air?
1088  Economy / Gambling / Re: RoyalStarsCasino.com | Crypto Fastest Growing Casino | Best No Wagering of 375% on: June 29, 2023, 04:24:26 AM
I think that absolutely everyone knows that bitcoin and cryptocurrencies should not be supervised by governments, banks, or control organizations, because this is what fiat money is for, bank records, the very large money movements that exist are not enough. ?
Bitcoin is unique and it should not be supervised by those government authorities but altcoins are different, not unique and they must be supervised.

Altcoins are very centralized and scammers can use altcoins to scam investors. They did many scam altcoin projects and will continue to make more new scam altcoins. Without supervision from government and their agencies, scammers will have a paradise for their scam activities which is not good at all.

I support more regulations from governments but will new and stricter laws, legislation, not arbitrarily regulate it like Gary Gensler and SEC. are doing.

Injury is an increase in Lukaku's performance getting worse but actually as long as he is not injured it is also a little difficult for Lukaku's performance because indeed for several seasons after his good performance at Inter and Lukaku his performance worsened again at Chelsea.
Inter Milan rescued Lukaku from Manchester United and gave him a second chance to revise his career. His first chance is in West Brom after a first failure in Chelsea when he was very young. After succeeded in Inter Milan, he returned to Premier League with Chelsea and failed a second time there. Inter Milan put out their hands a second time and gave Lukaku a third chance to revise his career. In the last season, Lukaku did not show signals that he can revise his career again in Inter Milan.

Quote
The latest news seems to be that Inter will sell off several young players such as Samuele Mulattieri, Facundo Colidio, Darian Males, Martin Satriano, Sebastiano Esposito and Eddie Salcedo. for the plan to buy Lukaku because they think that Lukaku is suitable to partner Lautaro.
If their plan is like that, I disagree with that plan. They must emphasize on growing young players rather than selling them and using not cheap cost to buy Lukaku. Sacrificing some young players to exchange a player like Lukaku who is at his 30 yr-old is something not smart.

1090  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Relationship between social media and Bitcoin on: June 28, 2023, 03:17:33 PM
However, social media impacts has reached greater heights by the massive and increasing influence that it  has on digital currencies like bitcoin.
The relationship between social media and bitcoin is expanding in exciting ways in terms of adoption,position,price/value and even the popularity
Social media costs us more time every day and it is social media addiction that is popular.

With cryptocurrency, social media helps to spread news very quickly on Twitter. It's hard for newbies to control their emotion and actions when they read good and bad news. They even don't have enough time to sit down, calm down and analyze news they read are true or fake.

I think I am not wrong to say most of them are altcoin investors, altcoin traders or Bitcoin traders. If you are Bitcoin investor, you will not care too much about news and social media. Being a holder will not require you to use social media like Twitter too much.

If you are wise, you can use social media to assess market sentiment and plan to enter or exit the market.

Be fearful when others are greedy, and greedy when others are fearful
1091  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: June 28, 2023, 03:09:17 PM
I think Barcelona is just hoping that Brozović is going to come to Barcelona, just because he will be able to play at the top level of the competition and also play in a respectable league (no offense to the Saudi league). And that is the reason why Brozović is thinking about it twice.
Brozovic is a good player but he is not like a star player or super star player. I think he will have less reasons to stay in Europe if he receives too good offers from clubs in Saudi Professional League. He will have to make easier choice between staying in Europe and moving to Saudi Arabia.

Quote
I also actually support his decision that he should rather go to Barcelona and stay at the top level of competition unless he is getting an absolutely huge amount of money from the Saudi league.
Surely he will receive better salary if he moves to Saudi Arabia if we base on salary those clubs in Saudi Arabia are ready to pay for European star players. Barcelona are in financial problems and they will not be able to provide too high salary for Brozovic.

Quote
I actually agree with you, that €30 million per season is not a lot for Al Nassr. So it will be interesting to see what happens. I honestly think if he is not getting €30 million or more per season from Al Nassr he should go to Barcelona.
€30 million per season is like x10 from his salary in Europe and even he receives €15 million per season in Saudi, it is good to accept such offers.
1092  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who Buys Bitcoin When The Price is 100k$? on: June 28, 2023, 01:21:47 PM
It's kinda a long shot if we would except Bitcoin to exceed $100k next year although I am not pretending to not see that it is still possible. If Bitcoin going past 60k was even unexpected for me back when Elon Musk was kinda like a hot topic here in the forum.

Again, we might not know in the next 2-3 years on how much can Bitcoin do before, during and after those years.
If Bitcoin breaks $60,000 and makes a new all time high in 2024 or 2025 but fails to reach $100,000, it will in a next halving in 2028 or 2032. I really believe that $100,000 is not a too high and untouchable price for Bitcoin.

It's only time and the challenge for us is will we have enough patience to hold our bitcoin. Will we keep our bitcoin and won't sell it to buy altcoins?

Elon Musk, I don't care about him.
1093  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: June 28, 2023, 01:12:10 PM
Gundogan's focus on a 2 season contract + 1 season auto-renewal if both parties agree is certainly a good choice for Barcelona and now Xavi doesn't seem to be too worried when Busquets leaves for Miami.
Gundogan is a very good midfielder and having him without transfer cost is good but Barcelona have to pay him good salary too. The two-year contract looks to be a good choice from Barcelona as they will not take too high risk. If Gundogan won't get serious injury, it's hard to lose his good performance within just two years. La Liga matches have lower intensity than matches in Premier League and it is good for Gundogan to adapt to the league style at his age too.

The auto-renewal term is not too important because I think both Gundogan and Barcelona don't actually want to bind with each other too long. Playing two seasons in Barcelona, enjoying La Liga and moving to Saudi Arabia if next three years, that league will still follow its strategy to buy star players from Europe.

Quote
But for other conditions the rumors about De Jong and Manchester United have returned to being a new drama for Barcelona in this summer's transfer.
De Jong just have very bad matches for Netherlands in UEFA Nations League. His style reduces attacking speed a lot and Barcelona need younger midfielders with more direct attacking styles.
1094  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: June 27, 2023, 01:44:41 PM
Neymar to United doesn't seem like a good move for United, not the other way around. Neymar would be very happy to play in such a great club and looking at the new ownership discussions and all, he would be very good signing as well. However, he is constantly injured and United needs a good result right away, they can't handle all the bad negative results that may happen.
It is not a good move for Manchester United in my opinion too. They will have to pay expensive transfer cost to PSG and pay high salary to Neymar because Neymar will not accept too low salary. Neymar with his dribbling style and sensitivity to injuries will not survive in Premier League. His career can end sooner when he plays in Premier League and continues his hobby on dribbling.

Quote
This is why it is quite important for United to get some players that would impact right away and make them great as well. They already have a few good players, and they need to achieve a bit better soon as well, with like 3 great player transfers, they could literally fight for the top spot and they may end up doing that soon this summer if they do the whole takeover and money injection thing.
3 great players will consume big transfer money but they will have to improve their midfield and defensive areas first. They already have good attacking players but have worse ones in midfield and defensive areas. They must improve those areas as they will not have draws and wins if they get too many conceded goals. A good central defender to replace Maguire, a good creative attacking midfielder to support Bruno Fernandez and replace Eriksen should be their transfer priorities in this summer.
1095  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Poll] Which of these Categories of Bitcoiners are Most Bullish? on: June 27, 2023, 01:35:28 PM
For the sake of this thread though, I’d say generally it’s the miners and devs being most bullish, followed by institutions and finally the noobs. Noobs deserve last place because they’re only bullish when Bitcoin’s bullish.
Noobs join the market when the market is very bullish and they are attracted to join with dream of getting rich quickly.

They don't have anything regardless of greediness so they will change to be bearish, very bearish and will be shaken out from the market when it turns to be bearish or just with corrections. Noobs need times to get familiar with this market, understand more about Bitcoin, its network operation and digest FUDs without considerable fearful feelings. Many noobs will fail to mature in this market but we will always have new noobs with each Bitcoin bull run.
1096  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Poll] Which of these Categories of Bitcoiners are Most Bullish? on: June 27, 2023, 01:27:46 PM
I want to believe that everyone on this forum lover bitcoin and that they reason they got into cryptocurrency is because of bitcoin.
Not everyone. There are bitcoin maximalists and altcoin maximalists. There are Bitcoin haters like Faketoshis, Roger Ver, ...

Quote
I have categorized bitcoin people into Bitcoin miners, Bitcoin Core developers, Bitcoin institutions(like Microstrategy), Bitcoin Noobs.
Even they are doing things related to Bitcoin from mining, coding, investing, learning, you will always see weak hands and disbelieved people. They can have belief in Bitcoin but not all people keep their thinking the same year to year. Especially in bear markets, when lot of things happen and mostly negative, some people will give up and switch to do other things.

Quote
I know there are many more but pardon me that is the best that comes to mind. Of these categories which do you think are do you think are the most bullish.
Miners are people who have to invest capital and you can consider them as most bullish because they take risk that they will have to mine for a while till a break-even time that is not a short waiting time. But there will be miners who give up, capitulate in bear market. Same with Bitcoin investors, coders and noobs.
1097  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: June 27, 2023, 11:41:31 AM
At an age like Luca Modric, there are those who start thinking about money, there are those like Modric where when he feels he can play for a top club like Real Madrid, he will be happy to do it and without thinking about the money that is offered to him. Modric himself must have considered what will happen next when he is unable to provide the best for the club, and surely that is a risk that he will be ready to take on later.
Winning Champions League is a dream for every player and many super star players did not win a single Champions League. Luka Modric has won five Champions League titles and he even won a Ballon d'Or as well as many La Liga titles with Real Madrid. In Croatia, he has been awarding as a best player of Croatia in many years. He can retire anytime he want without regret.

However he still plays very well at nearly 40s and it is another big surprise from Modric. He still don't want to leave Europe and I guess he wants to win one more Champions League with Real Madrid or want to win a title with Croatia. This summer he came very nearly to a first title with his national team but failed in a penalty shootouts by Spain.

Quote
Joining a Saudi Arabian club is a shortcut, especially for those players who have not been looked at by many European clubs, of course the money they will get is so tempting.
Joining a Saudi Arabia club and be rich is not too bad. I believe Modric will join that league soon, maybe after Euro 2024 as after that, it's impossible for him to aim at World Cup 2026.
1098  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When is the right time to buy bitcoin before the halving? on: June 26, 2023, 03:35:45 AM
The right and best possible time to buy bitcoin is now! If you obssess yourself by trying to figure out the best possible moment to buy, chances are that you will wait for too long and end up paying much more than you would if you didn't wait. After all, no one can really time the market and thos who tell you that they can and know when is bottom are full of shit.
Buy bitcoin now if you don't have to borrow money to buy it.

Bitcoin has only less than 12 more months till its halving in 2024 and 11 months are good enough to plan your accumulation. Price will not rise too soon or make a new all time high too soon, we have months until the halving but accumulation should be started right now.

Quote
My suggestion is to look into DCA (dollar cost average) method to get a habit of buying bitcoin regularly and to stop thinking too much about price volatility.
DCA https://dcabtc.com/

Looking at lowest prices year by year will help to debunk that fear.
1099  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: June 26, 2023, 01:55:54 AM
We expects good results from the reds next season. Liverpool is unlikely to be rebuilt; instead, the club requires prospective backup replacements for players who are leaving the squad. Jurgen Klopp does not hurry up signings; he takes his time determining what he wants for the club. In addition to that, their performance this season was one of their worst in decades, and I'm sure Klopp doesn't want that terrible experience to repeat itself in the new season, which is why he's taking the time to examine the estimated budgets that would fit his squad and direct them to winning ways.
Without Champions League, Liverpool will have less income in this season and it impacts their transfer budget in the summer. They have to reduce their spending for transfers as it should be. Anyway they have good player resource and the more important task for them is double checking their health care for players. They must have better medial, nutritious care and training process for their players which are not too harsh to cause injuries on their players.

If they can reduce like a half or more than half of injured cases like in the past season, they will have a stronger squad and can compete better in Premier League. In a new season, they will not play in Champions League and it will help their players have more energy and focus on Premier League. Playing in Europa League will be more comfortable than playing in Champions League.
1100  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it true that if you bounce bitcoin back and forth to different wallets on: June 26, 2023, 01:51:25 AM
that after a certain amount of time the bitcoin becomes practically anonymous? As in, not being able to be traced back to the original KYC exchange, or in the case of "tainted" bitcoin, that?
If you sending your bitcoins back and forth between different addresses in one wallet, it does not make sense. All transactions will be linked to that wallet. Do you mean back and forth by sending your coins to your used addresses? It is bad because the recommendation is don't reuse your Bitcoin addresses.

If you have ever read guidelines to use Coinjoin transactions or Mixers, you will see they emphasize the importance of Inputs and Outputs. You have to choose Inputs, Outputs and Anonymity set properly to have good anonymity. If after a Coinjoin transaction or mixing process, you use Outputs to send back to your used addresses, it does not help your anonymity.
