201  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.25/GH & 0.51W/GH on: March 11, 2015, 04:52:17 AM
A less crappy pricing model, at least for the upperbound, is "how much does this cost to make? Let's add a bit of margin so we can keep the lights on and pay someone to design new stuff" instead of "how much does this cost to make? How much profit can we possibly wrangle from our customer base before they refuse to buy any more?" I don't have the nards to look my customers in the eyes while adding an extra 30% profit margin onto my products just because they have nowhere else to buy from. I think that's called "abuse".

It works both ways though, no one complains if/when Bitmain sells at a loss when conditions are bad.

I thought that the customer was always right?  Roll Eyes

Was the first block # 180 our first orphan to date? I noticed it was crossed out  Undecided

Edit: Also Block!

Well with CITM throwing in the towel it seems this is most likely dead. It is a shame they could not have just shutdown in a more graceful manner. Goodnight, sweet price
204  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: USED but good ssd's. many used good 2.5 inch hdds $0 ship to all 50 states. on: March 11, 2015, 04:41:50 AM
How many hours and TB's have been written to that older SSD? Can you test it and let me know results? I am possibly interested if it has not been used too badly.
205  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: You can now order S5 on Bitmaintech *deprecated use the old S5 thread on: March 10, 2015, 06:22:08 PM
Well they are the only game in town these days so they can raise prices all they like. We have no other miners to buy that have any chance of a positive ROI.  Undecided
206  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Want some info Is any one buying any asics for Scrypt? on: March 10, 2015, 06:16:04 PM
I would highly recommend not investing into scrypt mining these days! I recently decided to switch back to SHA256 mining. The profits are worse on the scrypt side. Also nothing shipping is over 500MH.
207  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: March 10, 2015, 06:14:27 PM
So will Spondoolies not be releasing a new home miner for quite a while? I guess we are stuck with Bitmain and their price gouging? I would love to buy something larger like the SP31, but do not have the electrical setup for that. I really do not like how Bitmain jacked up prices and added in pre orders. SP please save us!!
208  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: March 10, 2015, 04:43:52 AM
The real holders are screwed since they have no way to sell. They are true bag holders in this scam.
209  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Manufacturer Trustworthiness Guide [27th Feb] on: March 10, 2015, 04:31:32 AM
I am disappointed in the price hike, but not surprised. Honestly the ratings do not matter anymore since only Bitmain is going to be selling to us home miners. From what I read Spondoolies is not going to sell home gear?
210  Bitcoin / Armory / Armory shows wrong balances often on: March 10, 2015, 02:31:02 AM
I am not sure why, but Armory will show inaccurate balances for me if I leave it open for a week or 2 at a time. I do a re scan of databases and then let it go (takes 1 hour) then it shows correct balances again.

Armory : 0.29.3=Beta
Core .0.9.3
Windows 7 x64

Just wondering if this is known to happen often or it is something else.
211  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S5: 1155GH(+OverClock Potential), In Stock $0.25/GH & 0.51W/GH on: March 10, 2015, 02:18:49 AM
SPT had exactly one product which wasn't specifically designed for a datacenter environment, and Bitmain price-hammered them so much they couldn't sell it except at a loss.

Additionally, anyone complaining that Bitmain price-hiked their machines by $100 in one day has good reason to do so because now they know full well that Bitmain has no qualms about letting people know they're being screwed. Sure the price of coin is swinging up on the news that their competition won't be delivering. That means the miner is expected to be more profitable for purchasers to mine on. But it also means that Bitmain themselves, fully capable of making positive margin at $320 per unit or they wouldn't be selling at all, are really in the mood to make another $100 profit per unit just because they can. Pretty dickish. Bitmain has good gear, sure, but that's crap and everyone knows it.

It is for the same reason we mine ~ greed ~ plain and simple. What else would you expect from a company who is out to make a profit? Bitmain is the only game in town now so they will bend us over as much as they can.
212  Economy / Securities / Re: AMHash1: Cost-Effective Mining Contract on: March 10, 2015, 02:16:36 AM
...We will have our lawyers there in Shenzhen doing it properly...

No.  You will talk about it, you will try to get others to do it, you might even start a chat room or irc chan, hell you might even use TorChat with The Dome Of Silence, but you will not have your lawyer (lol, missed the plural, your lawyerS Cheesy) "there in Shenzhen doing it properly."
You ain't even got *one* Sad

I would have to agree that he will not get them sued. I would guess it would cost more than his investment to even try.
213  Economy / Securities / Re: AMHash1: Cost-Effective Mining Contract on: March 10, 2015, 02:15:25 AM
We do not need to ask the Chinese state for anything. We will have our lawyers there in Shenzhen doing it properly.
Of course international fraud with use of bitcoin by one of the world leading producers is something that may interest Chinese officials... there are many possible scenarios. I think we may recover and rack the costs on them.

You really think that you have any chance of recovering funds from this? I think they will laugh when you try to sue a guy named FriedCat who is supposedly kidnapped. I applaud the effort if you really try to get them for scamming, but China is not exactly the easiest place to stop fraud.
214  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: March 09, 2015, 07:49:14 PM
I have long suspected this address to be linked to AM:

https://blockchain.info/address/1B9KrM7bjhJ42qJSWr1KJrNTAP1SNGMpJu

It is on the move big time today.

Looks like enough to go and sit on the beach and ignore the forums. Also Bitmain pulled a dick move raising prices. It is a shame only the Chinese make miners these days. Who would ever trust China for anything  Roll Eyes
215  Economy / Securities / Re: AMHash1: Cost-Effective Mining Contract on: March 09, 2015, 03:51:47 AM

Hashie had great communication till the day they turned to scam.

They also had some music writing skills  Cheesy. I am really not sure what to make of this mess if FC is kidnapped or just bailed. I think that either way the people invest into ASIC Miner are screwed though.

Someone mentioned that he/she knows where FC is and that he's doing fine.

I will believe it when he posts here then  Tongue
216  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S2 upgrade kit? on: March 09, 2015, 03:47:43 AM
I am sure Bitmain will make the upgrade kits, but will they be priced well enough to be worth it? I am really doubting they will make it a very good deal for us  Undecided
217  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S5 vs Spondoolies SP20 on: March 09, 2015, 03:35:15 AM
The answer is quite simple: Whatever one you can buy for the cheapest price per GH.

Actually quite more to it than that.

If you went by that remark, then you could buy an Antminer S1 for $20 with 200GH/s.
Which wouldn't make sense because of the huge power usage, noise and heat they generate. Just for example.  Wink

Read the topic.. S5 versus SP20. Where does an S1 come into this at all?

Both miners are newer generation and will under clock well for more efficiency. I would base my decision between them on purchase price.

https://bitmaintech.com/support.htm?pid=00720140411033846942qQqjOD460695  Shows all of the firmwares for the S1. If you are getting 175 - 180 GH I would agree let it hash. That miner is pretty old probably not worth messing with it.
