381  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Number of Transactions touching All Time High on: November 01, 2014, 04:31:12 AM
this is far more important than the price.

any rich guy with 10 million USD could use them right now to send the price back to around 1000.

the only way the amount of transactions per day can rise is if people actually use bitcoin, that is much harder to achieve and its happening.
we are living in some very interesting times indeed.

Cant agree more.

Price does not reflect true health of Bitcoin, but number of transactions do.

Merchant adoption does, transaction numbers are easily inflated past averages. But total number of active and larger merchants accepting bitcoin as payment and reserve is an even better thing to look out for!
I would argue that it is actually consumer adoption that drives the health of the bitcoin economy. If every merchant accepts bitcoin, but no one uses it then the bitcoin economy will not be good.

I would agree that merchant adoption will generally drive consumer adoption and will have a positive coloration
382  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Chunk of Bitcoin Network Being Cut-Off Due to US Regulations on: November 01, 2014, 04:28:26 AM
As it's hard to know all the reasons why BTC Guild is deciding to shut down, pointing to the govt. and saying it's their fault we need to stop our business operations, is in my view giving up a little bit too easy.

According to the attorney in the article, there is grave danger that any company dealing with Bitcoin in the US could be defined as a money transmitter. This pool will probably be bought and moved offshore. However, if the US continues to ratchet up the regulatory oversight, there will be a lot more companies running in the future.

Here is an article published today at Coindesk that discusses the difficulty that comes along with being classified as a money transmitter.

http://www.coindesk.com/new-fincen-guidance-means-us-bitcoin-companies/

My primary concern would be that other countries could continue to crackdown until there is nowhere left to run.
US regulators have previously said that anyone engaging in the practice of mining is not considered to be a money transmitter. I have no idea why the attorney in the article would say otherwise (probably to get a little bit of free press while having no idea as to what he is talking about)
383  Economy / Speculation / Re: What if Bitcoin Never increases in "Value"? on: November 01, 2014, 04:26:21 AM
If it stays stable at a certain price range, then it should be a good thing. Business owners will have more confidence and this will certainly encourage use and adoption. forget about the speculator and day trader who hoped to see insanely increase in price jump. These are the people who caused all the uncertainty and creates doubt about bitcoin future
I agree with this. If the price is somewhat more stable then it is now, then it will likely see more long term adoption while will likely mean higher long term prices
384  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Best places to get instant bitcoin? on: November 01, 2014, 04:23:09 AM
Everyone, thank you for your comments.
Let me specify and be more precise; I am looking for exchanges more-so (circle, coinbase) that allow for the purchase of instant bitcoin.

Whether the limit be $500 or $1000+, whatever it is will help.
I am currently moving 5 figure amounts daily and need instant coin to satisfy clients.

I am doing well now but would like a little more less stress.

With that being said, fire away some instant btc exchangers.

PS. I signed up for Circle and am waiting for them to verify my credit card and bank account.
I signed up for bitstamp, too; submitted docs...waiting for verification.
If you are trying to move five figure amounts of money into bitcon every day then you will probably not be able to find an exchange to do this for you, as it is simply too much risk for them. You could potentially do this with coinbase, however you would not be able to gain instant access to your money, and would be prevented from purchasing additional bitcoin after only a few days.

I would say that your best bet would probably be something like second market (again you would not gain instant access to your bitcoin, and would probably not have access to the bitcoin you purchase period) however the amounts would work
385  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: What can you say about Cloud Mining? on: November 01, 2014, 04:13:34 AM
So far I got 150% ROI with LTCGear - I got even ROI at 5th week and enjoying positive ROI Every Friday last 2 weeks.  I don't know how he doing it but always getting paid in BTC, LTC, and FTC.  Grin

+1 I can confirm that the payouts are great  Smiley
I have looked at LTC gear's website and it looks very sketch to me. I am curious to know if the inputs from their payouts can actually be traced to any coinbase transactions of recently found blocks of anything they claim to mine
386  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: what Best Way to Earn btc? on: November 01, 2014, 04:08:57 AM
Hello for all

what Best Way to Earn btc?
Faucets is good ?
Cheesy

Faucet can be good only if you have hundreds of active referrals in your downline. Otherwise faucets can be considered a waste of time.
This is really not true. Even with 1,000 referrals on a faucet, you will be wasting your time. If you were to spend all day on a faucet then you would be lucky to earn 1/100th of a penny worth of bitcoin per day. If each of your referrals (1,000) were to spend all day on a faucet then they would be lucky to earn a collective amount of $0.10 per day, and with referrals only earning a small percentage of the users' earnings, you would probably earn less then a penny per day with 1,000 referrals.

The moral of the story - do not use faucets, they are not profitable.
387  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Online or Desktop Wallet? on: November 01, 2014, 04:00:13 AM
Desktop wallet they said is more safer compared to online wallet
I am currently using online wallet, is it advisable or not?
Desktop wallet. Ive read something that online wallet is not safe as you think it is.
Desktop wallet. Ive read something that online wallet is not safe as you think it is.

Agree, but you need to secure your desktop wallet too..
A desktop wallet is generally going to be more secure then an online wallet, as you will generally have access to your private keys with a desktop wallet while you will not with an online wallet (blockchain.info being the exception to this - however blockchain does have it's own vulnerabilities)

If you were to use an "offline" wallet (eg cold storage) then your money will be much safer then either an online wallet or a desktop wallet, however you do have your own risks of not being able to access your money if you backup your wallet in too of an "exotic" fashion
388  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin as a Retirement Account on: November 01, 2014, 03:54:49 AM
Putting 1% of your retirement contributions in Bitcoins wouldn't be a bad idea.
This may be true, but not in the way the OP is describing. I would say that investing in the second market bitcoin fund of the COIN (BTC EFT) would be a very productive investment for your overall retirement strategy, however you need to be able to sell in the event that bitcoin no longer appears to be something appropriate for your retirement strategy.
389  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Law Lets I.R.S. Seize Accounts on Suspicion, No Crime Required on: November 01, 2014, 03:49:03 AM
http://www.nytimes.com/2014/10/26/us/law-lets-irs-seize-accounts-on-suspicion-no-crime-required.html

get out of the fiat titanic and jump into the bitcoin lifeboat before they rob you too.
it will only get worse and worse.

Sounds like a very Draconian measure
In other words if we suspect you of anything we don't need to worry about due diligence or just process
Act first question later.

Only one in five was prosecuted as a criminal structuring case.

(In other words just wasting tax money on low level fruit)
Ignoring the high hanging fruit that takes real effort and is real crime that needs addressing.
Of the people who challenge these seizures in court, almost all of them will end up winning and/or settling out of court with the agency that seized the property. As part of the settlements, people must generally agree to not sue the agency later in regards to the case. This results in the fact that unless that the amount is relatively small then they will always agree to not sue the local government agency
390  Other / Politics & Society / Re: [Debt Slavery] Credit card debt now secured by government. on: November 01, 2014, 03:45:49 AM
So in other words people will be doomed to pay back their debts
Sort of a debt slavery system considering that money is just created in modern economics
That said it will be interesting to see what happens the next economic downturn and how many people complain about it when the economy stays down for a long duration of time.
People will be doomed to be forced to pay back their debts? In this community anyone who borrows money and does not repay (regardless of the reason) will be labeled a scammer. Why should traditional fiat based lending be any different?

I have made a good number of P2P based loans on prosper, and a good number of them have defaulted (and/or declared bankruptcy) after making >3 payments. I personally consider this activity to be criminal and deserving to be put in jail
391  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Obama administration most ‘dangerous’ to media in history - The Washington Post on: November 01, 2014, 03:36:49 AM
The Obama administration has been very aggressive against people who are leaking information to the media that the administration does not want leaked, while intentionally "leaking" information they do want leaked but to not be an "official" stance of the administration.

I would certainly agree with the Washington Post's conclusion, with the most troubling example is when journalists' phone lines were tapped in an effort to find a WH leaker's identity
392  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Victory for women's rights: Mother wins right to end disabled child's life on: November 01, 2014, 03:32:43 AM
Quote
Nancy Fitzmaurice was born blind and suffering from hydrocphalus, meningitis and septicaemia, which left her unable to talk, walk, eat or drink.

I don't think the child could decide anything.

And I don't see how this is a victory for women's rights, it's a victory for human rights in general.
How is this a victory for human rights? We are taking about a parent of a child deciding to end the life of a child whose life is already established.

At this point in the child's life there is no risk to the parent if the child's life is not ended. The child should be able to make this kind of decision on their own if it is found by the court they will never be able to life any kind of "happy" life that is without pain.
393  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Want to get away with MURDER? on: November 01, 2014, 03:28:12 AM
When we need law enforcers to well monitor the law enforcement
What is that called?
(the military or the government)

This is called the citizens of the locality (or country for federal law enforcement officers) that law enforcement is suppose to be protecting. No one is going to see what the police are doing more then the citizens. Citizens are already allowed to film the police if they choose to do so, and IMO they do not film them enough (nor do they observe what they do enough)
394  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Cop arrests random girl, takes her cell, steals nudes on: November 01, 2014, 03:01:58 AM
Some of them do much worse than that, I remember sometime back one of my friend was busted for having sex in car, the cop handcuffed my friend and took him to his car and told the girl to be remained seated nude in the car. After putting my friend in the car, he returned, molested (fingered) the girl for a while than told her to get dressed and then left them with a warning. They didn't filed a complaint because they knew that they didn't had any proof and the cop got away with it  Angry.

Oh my god, that's terrible. This is why we should always film police encounters.

Yeah. It's very bad to hear such stories. Hopefully police dashcams can help both prevent & prosecute this things to happen as well as protect officers from false accusation.

Police dashcams are worthless as officers can turn them off at their will
The simple solution would be to disable the turning off of dashcams by officers locally. The dashcams should only be able to turned off by a superior and at least "x" time after the police officer is off duty and the police car is parked at the police station.

The same is true for the body cameras that some police officers are now being mandated to wear. They should remain active for an officer's entire shift and only be able to be turned off by someone above him when the officer clocks out
395  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Teens suspended from school for posing with air soft rifles on Facebook at home on: November 01, 2014, 02:56:15 AM
This is in line with the trend of local school districts on being very strict about potential school violence, while ignoring the underlying root of the school violence problem. It is also in line with the crazy goals of gun control advocates.

There was a 3rd grader who was suspended for eating a poptart into "the shape of a gun"
396  Other / Meta / Re: Discrimination on: November 01, 2014, 02:52:20 AM
Are you saying that there should not be English posts in the Romanian section?

I'm just spreading awareness about a double standard
Well it is a generally accepted fact that people around the world are able to speak their local language as well as English (if English is not their local language). The reason for this is due to the massive amount of influence that the UK had over the world during the time of the British Empire, and the influence the US has over the world today.

Most people in the Romanian section (for example) is likely going to be able to read, and understand an English post while people in the main forum will probably not be able to read other languages that are potentially written. It is a matter of being able to understand what is written, not a matter of racism
397  Other / Politics & Society / Re: "Not all cops are bad" on: November 01, 2014, 02:48:29 AM
Police are individuals with their own thoughts and ideals.

Yet they claim to honor an oath to uphold the constitution

Funny how that works

Anyone can claim anything.
This works both ways. They claim to uphold the law (generally only higher ranking officials swear to uphold the constitution), but it is also possible that others can claim the police violated their rights.

All police officers must swear to uphold the law, but there is really not a very good vetting process for potential officers so we will see a lot of bad officers. Plus the fact that police officers are given a lot of perverse incentives to make additional arrests and charge citizens with additional crimes that may not hold up in court.

398  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Obama Prepares Amnesty Plan on: November 01, 2014, 02:44:21 AM
The Nobel Prize winner will fix it....
Obama's nobel prize was actually revoked.

Obama has shown a disregard for the law and the constitution, so I don't see why anyone would be surprised that he is willing to disregard the constitution in this situation. Liberals have always wanted more illegal immigrants in this country so when they do become citizens they can take advantage of social programs and legally vote democrat, and before they become citizens they can cast illegal votes for democrats (this is the main reason why liberals are against voter ID laws)
399  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Ebola will come if airlines will not stop to fly to Africa on: November 01, 2014, 02:39:40 AM
The reason Obama sent troops rather than doctors to Africa to fight Ebola is that he doesn't believe that there is a cure... or that is what he is indication by his actions, anyway. The troops have been dispatched to execute anyone who has Ebola over there, at least if they are in a position that they might spread the disease.

I wonder what the real reason behind the troops is, since Ebola is patented in the States.

Smiley
What are you talking about Huh

The US troops are not executing anyone in Africa. If this was going on, there would be public outrage and the US would be guilty of war crimes.

Troops have been dispatched to help the sick, they are not your traditional infantry fighters but are rather soldiers who would help the soldiers who get injured in battle (eg nurse type soldiers)
400  Other / Meta / Re: Auction board is hard to browse on: November 01, 2014, 02:36:09 AM
I think there should be more subsections reserved for auctions for specific kinds of items (especially for domains). Or even making a separate section for domains - I have noticed that domains generally will receive very few to no bids (probably 90%+ no bids or even replies other then bumps) but take up a huge amount of "room" as many people are trying to farm domain names.
