421  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: December 23, 2013, 05:00:32 PM
Is it just me or is anyone else getting low accepted rates for the last 48 hours, has the graphs/stats changed maybe its not updating as fast as it used to?

I've come to the conclusion that It's not even worth mining until the switching algorithm is fixed. It's like finding a penny every day. It's been two days, surely it could have been fixed :/
There were some disconnect issues yesterday, however, since then I haven't had any issues. Payout today is already up to 0.1 for me, with 0.22BTC looking like where I'll end up... My hashrate is around 0.5-0.75MH/s under where it should, however, this could just be due to stales / pool variability.
422  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: December 23, 2013, 03:05:14 AM
Well at least we seem to get paid the same per kh/s, obviously just a bad day at the office
Yup, this was quite a bit lower than average (even the old average) however, we had quite a bit of downtime, plus I have a feeling our unexchanged balance is greater than it was at the start of the day.
423  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: December 22, 2013, 09:05:12 PM
"Stratum disconnect on pool 0"

I'm having several of these disconnects today as well, along with "pool 1 JSON stratum auth failed: (null)".
They are occurring randomly across several rigs.
It does always seem to connect back up, but concerning.

Anyone else having any issues?

Yup, it's mostly cleared up by now, however, earlier today I had to manually restart 2 different rigs as they got "stuck" not connecting to the main or the EU server. My assumption is it's still related to the insane growth we've experienced over the past week or so.

You should show the current mined coin.

Unfortunately I think that showing the current coin would make a bunch of people switch to mining that, lowering our profits.

I have toyed with the idea of giving coins aliases. I might do that.

If you can think of any ways to give miners more information, without spilling the beans on the coins, let me know.

Well, you can publish some statistical data about current number of coins in the pool and some statistics about how many switches per day/per hour are performed (this will give people idea how much manual work with switching pools and exchanging currencies they avoid by using your pool).

And when the pool switches to a new coin, it can publish the name of the old coin it have just abandoned - so in theory if someone is watching this in real time, the will switch to a coin that is not the best (because pool switched to something that is better) - most likely losing more than the 3% pool fee.

Or you can publish those data with even larger delay, like few hours or a day after a switch - day old data for this is IMHO close to worthless, as the optimal coin sometimes changes more frequently.

This way we can verify that the algorithm works and really mines the best coin from historical data, or if not (like if we find that some other coin was more profitable at that time from historical data), we can send yo alert and then you'll either add new coin, or fix the bug that caused the not-optimal coin to be mined.

We have been mining Dogecoin for the last couple of days and still do even if its not the most profitable coin anymore. Its at 8:th place and we're still mining it. It doesn't make sense.

The profit calculators aren't that accurate with a coin like DOGE... if you are mining and then auto-selling on an exchange then it's the 8th most profitable, however, there are other, more profitable ways to sell it that keep it near 1 or 2 still :]

I highly recommend adding a backup server to cgminer so you don't have to worry about downtime.  Pick your favorite LTC pool or hashco.ws or whatever... that way your miners sit at 100% all the time.
As others have noted, the past 24 hours have been pretty rough as far as pool uptime. Is anyone else experiencing an issue where after the pool comes back, your miner remains "stuck" and you need to manually restart the mining session?

I've got 3 rigs running BAMT (as opposed to the windows ones that never had this issue) and after this latest mass disconnect, one remained offline until I manually restarted the mining session. I have the EU pool specified as a backup, hence why I don't understand how it could get "stuck" as I thought it would just cycle between the pools until it got work from one of them.

Should I add another backup pool too? (Like Hashco.ws...though their uptime is way worse lol)

Not sure what you are talking about - I am hashing at about 18 Mhash/s and have a balance today of .42 BTC.  Seems good to me.
Yup, this pool has been great today as always for me (I'm on the US server most of the time, however,  I do have the EU one as backup). Hashcows on the other hand was a mess today :/
427  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: December 21, 2013, 05:01:04 PM
What are average earnings these days when mining on your pool with 4 MH/s? When I check that table, profits are so various, from 0.015 up to 1.5 BTC per day?
I admire your optimism, however one thing 4MH/s won't get you is 1.5 BTC a day (as much as I wish it did). Right now we are in a period of high profitability, with 4 MH/s earning around 0.1-0.12 BTC a day. There was one day it reached 0.15BTC, however, that was certainly an exception. Over the past month or so, it averaged quite a bit lower, around 0.06BTC or so for that hashing power.

h20

You are probably aware but there is a rogue sell order on coins-e that is throwing off the profitability on coinwarz, I presume you are using that site as we are still on doge but it's only the 10th most profitable coin at the correct rate.

What is a rogue sell order?
An order of small quantity significantly above or below the market price for the sole purpose of manipulating the reported price of a currency. If I had two accounts on an exchange, I could sell 1 DOGE for 0.001 BTC... it will bump the reported price up / many trigger some auto-sell bots (at higher price)...

Edit: In other news I'm glad to see we are back online :]  I had to manually restart 2 miners, the other currently pointed at the pool restarted automatically... probably a good time for my lazy butt to add backup pools haha.
429  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: December 21, 2013, 04:35:43 AM
Saw a payout was made this evening but I wasn't apart of it, both the addresses above and below me were?  Also my balance went from like 0.012 to .006...  Very happy with this pool and not complaining but there seems to be an issue here.
What's the BTC address you used for the pool? I searched for your donation one, however, didn't find anything :/
430  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: December 21, 2013, 04:34:42 AM
Cheesy Just realized OP is going to be clearing $20k/mo in fees pretty soon. Congrats, guy - you've earned it. Cheesy

(Once you start clearing $100k/mo, though, it'd be nice if the fees halved - just so it doesn't become too easy for you. Tongue )

ETA: Going by last few days - if status quo is maintained, ~$85k/mo. (if he's bullish and holds, probably double+ that)

I bet even H2O didn't think the pool would grow this quickly :-P  Don't forget that if he's clearing 100k then the pool is making 9.7 million a month... that's pretty impressive revenue for a bunch of guys (and gals?) with computers solving math problems haha

The average "Joe" with 10MH/s would be making $5,500 or so assuming profitability of the past few days (10k if BTC went back up to $1200 haha)... It's not 100k, but most of us would take it as side income :] The problem becomes heat once you have more than a few rigs running... you're dealing with thousands of watts of energy/heat to get rid of.

The flaw here is the insane profitability of DOGE isn't something that's easy to replicate :[ It's easy to predict best case, however, if BTC were to tank (making most alts unprofitable to mine), you'd see pools everywhere lose GH's within a few hours.
431  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: December 21, 2013, 12:04:10 AM
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I speak for everyone here when I say that middlecoin rocks, H2odysee rocks and the website is fine. I haven't tried the python script yet but I will as I've been using the website to check my progress every hour to give me an idea of my 24 hr performance. I've been with you since August on and off H2odysee and you don't need to change a thing. Even if I go back to 0.3 BTC/day I will be very happy as you have made me some goooood money.

I considered solo mining the most profitable coins, on coinwarz, coinchoose, and wheretomine, but doing your own trades is a hassle and you could get stuck with a million Doge and nowhere to dump them which was *and still is* my biggest fear. Last week it was Cinnamon coin and by the time I switched all my miners over the difficulty reported on some of the above mentioned sites was dead wrong.

I'm still learning(only started mining this summer with 2.4Mhash, I got serious when LTC went to $50) so I have room to grow and I feel I can do that with H2odysee backing me up.

Also, I've been reading Coingeek's charts for so long that when he posted in this thread recently I literally peed myself a bit.

I am impressed with H2odysee's responsiveness and me and my ~12Mhash feel that we have picked a winning horse.

I'm sure the other top 100 hash rates agree.

Anyways sorry for the ramble.
Is there an obligatory signoff? To the moon! Much coin wow.

How did you manage to get 0.3 btc with your 2.4 MHs? I have way more MHs than you but the most I got from middlecoin is 0.2 btc!!!

He has 12MH/s, not 2.4 :-P  My assumption is 2.4MH is what his first rig did, and now he has 5 rigs :]  I think a lot of people will be disappointed once we go back to the "normal" days (I was getting around .12 - .13BTC max with 7.5MH at the time), however, that's life haha. The goal should be to continue to grow your hashing power... that way, even if each rig only makes $15-20 a day or so, it's still a viable source of income.

I agree with many of the others in saying please don't waste time or resources on "pretty" stuff for the website; It will further slow stuff down, and as long as the pools are operating smoothly, the fluff quite frankly isn't necessary.
432  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: December 20, 2013, 07:17:16 AM
About the graphs:

A lot of you may have noticed that your personal graph isn't updating very often. Others may not have seen much change at all, up to today.

It all comes down to rapid growth. There's about four times more active users than a few months ago and maybe an extra thousand in the last week. I may be way off with the exact numbers. I didn't keep track, but the message is the same. Getting lot's more users is great, but it can lead to growing pains.

One thing that's happening is that the auto updates to the graphs (run from cron) stop after about 2300 data files. These are run in the order they originally came from the JSON file which is sorted by hash rate. So, if your are in the top 2000+ hash rates on the site you have been getting regular updates. I'm not doing this by design. I've just discovered this is the way it's been working.

In the good old days, a week or so ago, there were fewer active users than that, and everyone got an update every 10 to 15 minutes. Right now we have over 4000 active users. (Active user means "Has a hash rate at the time the graph is run".) There are over 9000 total users who have stats and data files.

It can take, on average, a second to render a graph on my little server when it's under load. So, it can take over an hour to run graphs for all active users. Inactive users, who have no hash rate at the time the graphs run, are ignored for now.

If an auto update starts before the last one ends it can lead to a server lock up, so for now I've backed off auto updates to once an hour. That's for the lucky top half of the hash rates. I've also been running updates that will get the rest of the active users, but less often and only when I'm awake and at my desk in California.

This is temporary, and I'm working to lessen the pain, but I wanted to let everyone know what's going on.

Appreciate the update. So even with the lack of updates to hash rate and other stats, we're still mining? I've been using 3333 just fine for the past two days at ~1.6Mh/s

Yup, the graphs, while nice, aren't essential to actual pool operation :] As long as your workers are reporting shares and aren't experiencing a ton of stales or disconnects then you should be fine
433  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: December 20, 2013, 07:12:29 AM
Hi,
I like this pool. Thanks for the excellent work. Been mining on it for 32 hours straight now, balance is >0.2 BTC now.
But I got no payout so far? Why is that? Shouldn't it have been about 7 hours ago?
Cryptsy, one of the exchanges H2O uses, was down for maintenance earlier, hence there was some unexchanged that wasn't able to be traded for BTC. I think H2O was waiting for this to come back online before he processed the day's payouts. I wouldn't worry too much... payouts have always gone through :]
434  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: December 19, 2013, 04:17:05 PM
I don't think that site or any of the others that calculate profitability are ever accurate.  I could be wrong but I tried mining individual coins and it was no where near what those calculators were promising.
Yeah it is a little misleading.  I'm pretty sure it is calculated on the real time values so it wont be realistic as mining and unloading takes time and by that time usually the market has changed.  I usually get around the middle range of all the coins on this pool.  It has been great recently though!
Yup, that's why a lot of the unexchanged was already locked in today... right now the price for DOGE on Cryptsy is pretty epic (vs where it was even a few hours ago), however, if it comes down later, then the whole pool earns less. They really should have an "average" profit calculator on that site(CoinWarz), as often a very volatile coin will be on top (and people will start mining it), only to drop to the bottom once people see it's on the top and start unloading.
435  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: December 19, 2013, 07:48:13 AM
every watt in the country will be pointed there if it's on coinwarz top ... damnit
Yup... We all knew it would happen, however, being on Coinwarz means the end of our "secret"/profitability... already the difficulty is over 200 :-( On to SantaCoin Tongue
436  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: December 19, 2013, 05:37:35 AM
I want to know how he does it. Great profits again, even with the big drop in BTC
The good news is if you hold onto what you mine now, assuming BTC goes back up again eventually, the payout will have been even sweeter. Can help but think of the 10,000 BTC pizza back in ?2009?... 12 million dollars at it's peak haha
437  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] cudaMiner - a new litecoin mining application [Windows/Linux] on: December 19, 2013, 05:35:28 AM
Use 32 bit.^^ ? Lose C 2,. But you should def. get more

Do I need to use a new launch config for my GTX 670? Previously I used K14x16, and the current autotune outputs inaccurate hash rates (real hash rate is average 100kh/s lowee than table output). Right now I get 245kh/s from 180kh/s! Huge improvement
Hmm, running 32 or 64 bit doesn't seem to make a big difference - still 120-130 KH/s with the K14x16 config (which produces the most of the ones I've tested so far)

Perhaps it's because these are the 2GB (not the 4GB) versions of the 680M?

What's weird is during the autotune they were using more energy than in the current config (can watch instantaneous draw in watts on my UPS), however, I don't know what configs it was searching through...

I figured the 680M should be around the level of a 660TI, maybe a little less, however, I'm definitely still under that.

Oh well... at least heat isn't an issue :]  I probably shouldn't even be mining with this, however, even an extra 250KH/s counts for something
438  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] cudaMiner - a new litecoin mining application [Windows/Linux] on: December 19, 2013, 04:33:45 AM
Hmmm... the new version has obviously increased the hashing power of many cards, however, I see no difference (I'm using the 64 bit version) :-(

I'm running two 680m's with SLI disabled on a laptop

Previously K14x16 would net me around 128-130 kh/s, which is identical to what the new version is getting. Right now I'm running the following flags:

-d 0 -H 1 -l K14x16 -m 0 -i 0 -C 2

I'm running two instances (one -d 0 the other -d 1) as that keeps everything super stable.

Temps are fine with neither card getting above 73C or so, and this is a 330Watt AC adapter so I doubt that's the issue.

Autotune reports a hash rate of 200kh/s, however, with whatever config it picks the rate is always 120KH/s or less, which is worse than K14x16

Any ideas would certainly be appreciated, as I feel these cards should be getting 150-160 or so with the latest version
439  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: December 19, 2013, 04:25:19 AM
me hashrates north of ~5 Mh/s or so, how do you accomplish this?  Is it sheer hardware volume like a basement full of 7950s, or are using some more, *ahem* sneaky methods? (botnets?...) If you had a basement full of 7950s, I'm pretty sure that would heat an entire room, but whatever.  I noticed that the guy with the top hashrate made something like BTC1.73 today.  That's a lot.
Yeah, the people at the top would really be making bank if the price of BTC was still north of $1,000... Still, this isn't an issue if you are saving your coins and waiting (Just remember your .0177 COULD be almost $20 again as long as you don't sell it now Tongue) That person who received 1.6 BTC is probably counting on it being worth at least $1,500 some time in the future.

Most people with the huge hash rates rent space somewhere where they can get industrial power prices / don't have to worry about the noise and energy load on their house.

The "standard" rig these days is usually 4 cards of 7950/7970/280X/whatever, producing 2.5-3.0 MH/s... each rig draws a little over 1050 watts or so, which is a lot of heat to deal with. In the winter most of us think of it as free heat (helps offset the huge power bill), however, once it gets warmer it's going to become a bear to manage. With a fairly "small" setup of only 16 GPU's, you very rarely need to run the heat Tongue Just make sure you don't overload your breakers/wires... 12 gauge for 20 amps and 14 gauge for 15 amps minimum... an extra BTC or two is not worth a fire O.o

In the summer, a real cheap way to cool a space is to run cold water (from well/city supply) though a large radiator... then to irrigate with the warm water (doesn't shock the plants and water is usually really cheap per gallon)

Don't forget that this is a legitimate hobby for many of us - a lot of the fun comes from figuring this stuff out
440  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: December 18, 2013, 06:50:31 PM
H2O - would it be of any benefit (server off-loading) for any of us US folk to switch to the EU one too? Right now I'm losing around 350-500 kh/s or so on the US server. I'm not sure what spec your EU server is vs the US one, however, if it would help the stability of the US server, I'm sure a good number of us would switch over.
