322  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Eyes to the horizon: A bitcoin ASIC project will be announced in June on: May 23, 2013, 08:14:28 AM
Also, companies like KnCMiner claim 28nm ASIC.  I recall another person (i cannot recall the name) mentioning they were in the works for creating 28nm asics, but would only sell to companies (like a real semiconductor company usually does..)

Also, Bitfury is 28nm i think?

Seems like this is a frequent question.  I d like to explain it minutely

1. In the present case (hundreds T size) , 28nm is totally unrealistic, it sounds like: pay millions more to save one dollar for electricity charges. With a rough calculation, 28nm would probably get a real advantage after hash rate achieve 50k+T

2. The thought that 28nm&45nm is "better" than 130nm is purely amateur, which nm number to choose depends on many factors, also, good optimizations in both FPGA and ASIC increase the function of chips so much,    which means that, even for 130nm/110nm, there are still  several aspects exist to improve.

3. I have no idea about what is the real plan of bitfuty/KNC. I am not saying that theirs are fake, but I see no reason to develop 28nm at the moment, which is, extreme expensive/sounds pretty cool/highest risk and lowest return.

Bitfury's chip is 65nm that has been optically scaled to 55nm.

Some clarifications:

1) Auction ends earliest 72 hours after it started should no more bids have been made within 5 minutes of end time. Should any bids be made in those last 5 minutes, the end is set 5 minutes later until there has been no bids made for 5 minutes.
2) I originally announced 0.1 bid increments, but as many bid and I accepted bids with 0.01 increments, it shall be changed to 0.01.
3) I have requested Friedcat to confirm my share ownership in this thread and hope he will do so at his earliest convenience.
4) Payments for shares shall be made to addresses specified by me at the end of the auction. These together with this auction thread provides the buyer the instrument for proof of payment. Winners should also pm friedcat their bitcoin address for receiving dividends and e-mail address to be associated with it. Transfer of shares will be made by friedcat when payment for shares has been completed.

I assume these are direct shares, correct?

If so, 10 @ 2.0, thanks

Yes they are.
329  Economy / Auctions / Re: [AUCTION] 50 ASICMiner shares on: May 21, 2013, 01:00:52 PM
I received a pm offer by xaviarlol for 10 @ 2

can we keep bids to the thread and not via PM? It's hard enough participating in an auction by thread when you don't know what's going on via PM channels...

I totally agree. Auctions should state whether they will allow proxy bids in the initial post.

I understand your frustration, but new users don't have permissions to post here.

My previous experience is that PM bids are rare (typically representing less than 2% of all bids), and usually get outbid anyway. No private bid should be considered valid unless I relay it here.

336  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike - 16 chip ASIC Open Source Board - Preliminary on: May 06, 2013, 09:35:29 AM
You might want to stich that ground plane.
Yes, I need to do that. Is there a best practices doc about ideal location and how many?
I was going to google it soon but haven't quite got there as I'm setting up the firmware project right now.

It depends, your PCB manufacturer can comment on that after you send first version of gerbers to them for a quote.

I have a lot invested into the success of PPCoin and I want everything that can be done to increase the odds of success.

You mean you've hoarded shitload of coins and want them to appreciate in value to become filthy rich with near zero effort? Wink
340  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Received BFL Jalapeño Today! on: April 29, 2013, 09:39:35 PM

For a $149 investment it'll repay itself and make $1300 on top in one month of mining.

Think again. You paid about 23 BTC 10 months ago. You'll make .3 btc/day. Even if the difficulty doesn't skyrocket (which it will), you need more than 2 months to just break even. You aren't making any profit for a long time.

No, he paid in USD, just like everyone else.  Nice try, though.

How did he pay in USD when you were only accepting preorders in bitcoin through bitpay?
