261  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: August 12, 2013, 08:07:08 AM
One of my batch 3 avalons is performing very poorly due to a high HW errors.  Unplugging all by one module, each module individually has between a 25 and 75% HW error rate at either 256 or 300Mhz.

This degraded performance starting after about 6 hours of mining at 300Mhz.

Is there anything I should try before trying to make a warranty claim?
I was calculating the hardware error rate wrong.  It should be HW/LocalWork, which brings the error rates i'm seeing to a much more reasonable 1%.

Regardless, 3 out of 4 of my batch 3 units end up with <10Gh/s after 3-12hrs of mining, some more frequently than others.

Could this behavior be due to the new temperature throttling feature?  I have the default temperature limits of 70C target and 90C cutoff, but I don't see the temps going over 70C.

I'm having this same issue.

EDIT: so is the solution is to disable wifi or to implement the load monitor with auto-restart? Is this issue resolved?

Update:
I still believe we will be shipping everything as promised, apart from possibly exceeding specs by 25% on the power consumption side.

Is the hardware still capable of this? Any problems that come along with that (except for a higher electricity bill of course)?

I meant this in a good way Smiley It should use LESS power that original 400W.

I'm also working together with Foofighter to produce casings for these units, ie. boxes with fans Smiley I have doubts we will have them available in time for August shipments though Sad
Will they come for free for orders that timely make it, like october orders? So the ones who ordered in august will only get the basic kit (without housing, fans), they are just unlucky, correct? Smiley (Nothing wrong with that)
Thanks for those updates, it is most appreciated! Until now you are doing a lot better than your competition. Please don't rest on your laurels just yet Wink
This will be a separate product in the shop. Not all people will want such a case. Not all will want it assembled.
263  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Bitfury ASIC sales in EU and Europe on: August 11, 2013, 07:59:40 PM
PCBs are not problem. I still considering the purchase of chips. But we have no guarantee that Metabank or other large customer does not put hands on the majority produced chips.
In effect at October  we will be in the same situation as it is today with Avalon. I do not know which is worse, do business with Chinese people or the Russians?
We honor our promised timetables to our bulk chip customers so much, that we have set a self-imposed fine for missing the dates promised.

I don't know if I want to do business with someone with such prejudice based on some racial or cultural stereotypes. I'm half russian and I like chinese. Maybe you'll enjoy doing business with a  100% USA company instead?

Punin, can you give a guarantee that the ordered chips will go to the customer on time and in the right order, since most of the product from your shop with August delivery was moved to a shop in the US and is no longer available to us ?

You are making strange conclusions here. We did not have much chips in august to begin with. Those that we had were pretty much split 50%-50% between me and Dave.
264  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Bitfury ASIC sales in EU and Europe on: August 11, 2013, 07:41:10 PM
Please don't answer me 'in two weeks'... ;-)
Well half a month then Smiley
Seriously, if someone can see the future there is much more than 'accurate estimation' one can do.
I am sure, if you can accurately predict the date at which the chips will arrive and the broads will be printed and populated with all the required components (received in time or when they are), Punin will be able to give accurate estimation, but for the future there are just rough expectations ... there are no reasons for delays right now, but this doesn't mean that he lied if there are some latter.
Producing 5 or 10 boards is not like producing 1-10k especially if you don't know is it 1k or 10k

I expect september to be quiet in terms of what's being produced. We know we should be getting more chips in sept/oct '13. We can prepare everything else in advance, so when we get the chips, production can start rolling quickly (we can book a slot for PCB assembly). Unfortunately the IC fab + IC packaging part of the equation can be unpredictable and can cause delays from time to time. This is why I can say october, but nothing more precise. If all goes as planned (and as promised to us by our manufacturing partners), I believe it's theoretically possible to start shipping october units in first half of october.

Update:

Rev2 M-boards are currently in production, and I really think it's a good idea to ship the units with those as it makes it more plug and play. My original idea was to produce an adapter cable from PCIe to ring connector, but there's small problem: there's no female cable connector for PCIe Molex(!!), only board ones. This would then mean people would need to cut the PCIe cables that came with their ATX PSU or use a different PSU, a path which I don't want to go, because there are too many things that can go wrong with this approach. Also, although we do provide kensington screw terminals on the board, you don't need to use these if you use two PCIe connectors.

I still believe we will be shipping everything as promised, apart from possibly exceeding specs by 25% on the power consumption side. I'm also working together with Foofighter to produce casings for these units, ie. boxes with fans Smiley I have doubts we will have them available in time for August shipments though Sad

I should be getting first M-boards on friday, so if all goes as planned, we would start shipping week 34.

Thank you for your orders and support, we're working hard to get these units in your hands asap!

EDIT: Apparently cablez has found a female PCIe connector. I'll try to get hold of these, so we have a plan b should there be any problems with v2 M-board.

Update:

First H-boards are off the production line! I'm very happy and excited about this! It's looking like we'll be able to ship everything in time!

http://i43.tinypic.com/24d24gh.jpg

Those look like a different version of the chips (than what was pictured before - e.g. here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=228677.msg2489891#msg2489891)

Are the new chips the same specs as the samples sent before? (and what's different?)

btw can you take a close-up shot of one of the chips - just so we have a nice picture for reference Smiley

These are basically same chips in different package. Also laser marking is a bit different. The 1st batch was saw-type, this is punch-type. We don't expect to see notable difference between the two.

@punin

was there any  change in board measurements between revision v1.1 and v1.2?

H-board (the height and depth): 110 width x 134mm Length (again assuming a little bit of overhang from the listed hole dimensions)  (highest component is 6mm)

so the height was changed in this revision from 137 to 134mm is that right? Does the mounting hole alignment stays the same from the top side?

We need Intron's comments for this. Smiley

Hi Punin, there are no chip orders on the site now, will this be coming back soon?

We are currently working on the pricing model for the chips and only serve bulk customers for now (2 reels minimum). We plan to continue selling sample chips, but for now they're hidden from the shop.

Copy pasta with a side of translation from the finnish bitcoin forums:

Odottelen yhä H-Boardeja tehtaalta, niin käytin ajan hyväksi ja korjautin M-boardin.
Still waiting for H-Boards from the factory, making good use of the time and fixed the M-board.

Nyt on uusi M-board valmis tuotantoon!
The new M-board is now ready for production!

Uutta: 3kpl 3-pin Molex tuuletinliitännät, 2kpl Molex Mini-fit Jr PCIe liitännät
New: 3x 3-pin Molex fan connectors, 2x Molex Mini-fit Jr PCIe connectors

Thank's Isokivi!

I want to thank Intron and Tytus for providing us with this updated board. This M-board will be produced in Finland and is in production, so I think it will arrive in time to make it into august shippings. There's also 4 card banks now that should give us better overhead on SPI communication an thus enable faster and more reliable operation. Best performance will be achieved by installing filling 1st slot of each bank, then 2nd etc.

Anyone received the bitfury chips they order??
Did you order chips? What is your order #?

Hi,
sorry that im asking here, but the support dont answer me for weeks. Is it possible to pay via bank transfer from germany? i dont have any bitcoins yet and want to pay my order as soon as possible....

Yes, this is now possible. Just choose bank transfer as payment method.

nice to have you here! thank you very much!

unfortunetly for the international bank transfer a address is necesarry. is it possible to request a invoice from you where an address is mentioned?
SEPA should not need this. Are you located in Europe?

yes, but my bank (Postbank) denied to do a SEPA transfer outside from Germany via Online Banking!  Angry guess they want to have the dues for international transfer.

my order number is #710 and #715. will put this into subject of email.

thank you very much!

I think it's actually illegal to deny SEPA! You should complain about this.

thx punin, for finally taking the time here!

So just 1 question from me regarding August orders, will they be delayed or are we still in time with august deliverys?

We are still on track to deliver in august, but it's gonna be a push.
277  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Bitfury ASIC sales in EU and Europe on: August 05, 2013, 07:22:50 PM
Well, there was this opportunity for an ASIC business to distinct itself from its most notable competitors (*cough* Avalon and BFL *cough*) by communicating clearly and in a predictable way. Sadly, this opportunity remains to be grasped by someone else.

I would not mind, if it takes 2 weeks to respond, as long, as I'm not treated differently from the others. If I'm just being ignored, then I don't see myself ordering anything else in the future from the company. I do not require complicated answers. Sticking to the simple facts would suffice, for example: "No, I cannot give you the invoice, as the new company does not exist yet.", or "No, there is no way that I can accept international bank wire at the moment.". After all the missed deadlines by other ASIC manufacturers, I understand if someone does not want to make promises about time-frames. But it would be nice, if the answer could include something like "Hit me again in 6 weeks time, as the situation may change".

I'm very sorry I have not been able to answer your questions in a timely manner! I'm on this now!
278  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Bitfury ASIC sales in EU and Europe on: August 05, 2013, 07:20:30 PM

My Bank needs me to fill in the beneficiaries name and address. Name has been provided in the order receipt email (Niko Punin?), but no address.
Requested the address via contact form but reading here that they are not being replied to in a timely manner. Anyone here have the beneficiaries address?

request a invoice first. that how I would proceed.
I did request invoice 2 weeks ago, for my order that I paid in Bitcoin on 9th of July, 2013. No response.  Undecided
Edit: I also requested if it is possible to pay via international bank transfer, as I have customers, who would like to purchase hashing boards and rent my free slots in the starter kit.

I'm sorry about this and all others who have waited for replies. I get tons of mail, and some of it just gets buried as new pours in. I'll look into my backlog and get back to you.

punin: is the contact form on the site functional? I wrote an inquiry about my paid order, and did not get any response. It's been 2 weeks and I'm beginning to worry...
It should be. I do get massive amount of mail and there's a lot going on, so I might have missed yours. What is your order # or what is the first 5 letters of your e-mail address?

400GH Miner Full Kit (October Delivery) - €7,500
25GH Miner Starter Kit (October Delivery) - €1,000
Bitfury 55nm ASIC H-Board (October Delivery) - €350

Startert kit (€1000) + 15 H Boards (15 x €350 = €5250) = €6250
It means, I save €1250 ?
What is the purpose of buying Full Kit?
 Cool

OOPS! This means there was a mistake on the site. Happy days to all those who got theirs cheap. Smiley I'll change this.
