Sorry, my bad.

663  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin will apply for a Guinness record on: July 09, 2014, 08:48:52 AM

Guinness is known to slide past reality as far as "internet" goes.
For example, they gave "World of Tanks" record for "most users online on single server" even tho, game is NOT MMO, nor users are playing on same server. It's easy to cheat Guiness. All WoT has is single "login" system so basicly, by that rule Google or Facebook can go under same category as many games use their login system.

Anyway, it's cool PR stunt (Bitcoin in Guinness), nothing more, nothing less.

but with the same point is why i dont feel GBR is a big deal, i have not really bothered to see who is record breaking eac year.. ever since i was a kid.. as the records themselves are just...... not that good.

its like winning the egg and spoon race.. great someone won. but.. its an egg and spoon race!

still any PR is good PR, i wont rant on about what i think would really help bitcoin

Well, i don't have problem with "quality" of record. If someone broke "egg and spoon race" record, that's cool for me. World is large, and there are enough people that will be interested in it. For example, i have no freakin idea why anyone would watch "Cardashians" TV show, but some ppl do. Same with "egg and spoon", it will get some attention for sure.

What i have problem with is objectivity. If it's freakin egg and spoon race, than do not let someone glue god damn eg to spoon, or someone compete with custom made spoon that can safely carry eg in any position you like etc. Spoon is a spoon, and egg is a egg. "Most users on one game server" is exactly that...not freaking login server!
664  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin will apply for a Guinness record on: July 09, 2014, 08:35:02 AM
but bitcoin is not the most decentralised network.

the internet is.
then banking network (remember every ATM, cashier PC are all connected to their servers, which then connect to other bank servers)
then online gaming network (millions of users conncting to microsoft)
then government agencies
then bitcoins

just because there is alot of hashpower, does not mean there is alot of desktop computers/laptops hashing..

Are the internet and banking really decentralized?

internet has a centralised motive, data sharing
banks have a centralised motive, money transfer
bitcoin has a centralised motive, ledger transfer
gaming has a centralised motive, kill streaks Cheesy

but they are all location on different machines in different companies, in different countries..

666  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gotta vent - eBay/Paypal suck! AND some people are just scum on: July 09, 2014, 08:18:09 AM
Main problem with ebay / paypal is that they don't really do what they advertise (sellers protection). They do not follow any strict rules, they do "what they feel is right". If they don't like particular item you are selling, you are screwed. You (seller) pretty much depend on agent that get's your case. If that particualr agent likes crypto, you have a chance, if it does not, you are screwed. You can send em all proof in the world that you did EXACTLY what was in auction and still they will take your money and walk away with it. You are lucky if you get your stuff back.
It's like escov service without of any strict rules....damn nightmare for seller.

said  the system processed $851 in 81 transactions one day last month. In the past six months the number and value of transactions had risen by about 30 per cent.

Služi da se koristi kao sredstvo placanja...

and warns financial institutions to keep their distance until the industry is regulated

What's so bad about it? BTC is not going anywhere (in large scale) untill there is legal background. USA, EU or anywhere else in the world. Yes, BTC does not need regulation as it has no boundaries, but legal infrastructure can greatly help and speed up adoption, and that's what we really want, isnt it? BTC lovers want it, BTC investors want it, there is practicly not anyone who doesnt want it....
670  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why can't the Bitcoin development be more like Linux? on: July 08, 2014, 02:32:25 PM
Why can't the Bitcoin development be more like Linux?

Linux has a huge development team. So many people take part in updating it. If you run Linux on your computer, you will know there are always updates. All these updates are created by the open source community. So why can't Bitcoin development be more like Linux?

What are we missing? Or maybe the development team will grow as big as the team of Linux?

What do you think?

Linux development doesn't deal with billions of dollars of a store of value system

Oh man...you have no idea what you are talking about don't you? Linux is fundation for huge part of internet as far as servers go. If it would have some critical issue, it would be disaster for servers, and anyone who uses linux based systems (hostings, banks etc.). I'd say linux is spine of Internet as far as software goes. Value that rests on linux fundation (only if you add banks that use it) is tens, hundreds or even thousands times larger than current worth of BTC. To that, add value of every other internet server (not server itself, but value of resources that are on that server) that is based on linux and you have value that you cant even pronounce.
671  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ron Paul on Bitcoin: "The dollar has lost 97 percent of its value..." on: July 08, 2014, 12:39:20 PM
As much as i'd like for fiat to die horrible death, i know that in process ALOT of people will loose all they have and probably there will be some blood spilled too so i cant really say i'm hoping it comes as soon as possible. Changes like that are volatile and very unpredictable. Yes, change is much needed but i dont really know how is it possible to make it slowly and paynless. Once people start jumping from fiat to whatever alternative (hopefully bitcoin), process will start slowly (or it already started) and will gain speed as it goes. Once it reaches certain treshold, it will go so fast that most of the common people wont have time to react and alot of value that those people have in fiat will dissapear.

rule of the street, if you wont simply hand a stranger on the street $2400... dont do it online

I thought I had it down. It didn't occur to me that he was hacking other people's Paypal accounts to pay me. So I'm doing what's right and returning their money to them.

You are kidding me?! PayPal?!
Do NOT user PayPal for ANYTHING that can not be tracked by shipping companies (digital goods, services etc included). You will get your ass raped hard way.
673  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kyrgyzstan bitcoin experiment promises migrant workers big savings on: July 08, 2014, 10:47:49 AM
Bitcoin can be used for exact this use in so many different countries. Most of Africa, big parts of Asia, some eastern EU countries etc....alot of workers migrating around the world that pay high fees just to send hard earned money to their families.

675  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gotta vent - eBay/Paypal suck! AND some people are just scum on: July 08, 2014, 08:06:38 AM
Only thing that i would ever "sell" on Ebay using PayPal as payment option are services. Something that takes only my time so if i get scamed it wont hurt as much (yes i know, time costs and all that but it hurts much less than when you invest $$$ and get scammed out of it).

678  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: US Marshall's Bitcoin Auction Results on: July 02, 2014, 03:10:13 PM
It is possible that it was bought above current (at the time) price, as BTC marketplace is pretty thin when it gets to large amounts of BTC. If someone bought that much BTC in a single sweep, he would spend ALOT more than current price (at the time) as market is thin and he would raise price for 100-200$ if not even more.
So basicly, if you are that someone and you want to buy large amount of BTC, it would pay off to pay above price on that auction as this is still less than you would pay on exchanges.
