Apply Type: lv3
Reasons: Active member of forum 170+ high quality posts, always looking to promote new decent coins on the Internet and to my friends. Looks like a great POS coin, and I plan to be a long term holder.
1445  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PoSx11]Edgecoin - Multipool - Coinmix - 180+ investors - Open beta - 24 hour on: April 15, 2014, 10:28:24 PM
What does open beta mean?

When will mining commence?

IPO will end on the 16th at 4 PM EST

You will be able to download the beta at 1 PM EST
The password for the download will be available the following day at 1 PM EST

There you go.

About the beta. A beta is a non-finalized version of a piece of software. An OPEN beta means everyone can join in and test out the software before launch. Smiley

Thanks for info.

I'm just curious as to when we're going to want to start mining, either via the wallet, or the pools you have listed.  Will the mining be on the test network while it's in beta? or will the mining count towards something?

Thanks.

You'll be solo-mining through the client. The mining will be on a test net.

Cool thanks for the clarification.  Good to know I won't have to scramble for it.  But happy to be part of the test.

Here is p2pool src for Logicoin.
https://github.com/chaeplin/p2pool-lgc  removed

Run your own p2pool node.

Run your own peered p2pool node.

Seed server is http://asia01.poolhash.org:8903/ down.

Found a block.

p2pool source is available at https://bitbucket.org/dstorm/p2pool-lgc. Use that if you want to join the existing network.

Curious.  How goes this p2p source differ from say the Darkcoin p2p?  Could the darkcoin p2p source not be used with modified ports? OR is it more complex than that?

Cheers

SUBSIDY differ, p2p network identifier differ, p2p network prefix differ, and ports differ.
Why?  Variables are coin specific.  Grin

And I don't want two splited p2p network. So I removed my repo.

Much differ!

Thanks for the info mate. Yeah makes sense to only have one network.  I was curious as have been thinking about making a another DRK P2P node.

Regarding this multipool: will it actually help? I can see it working for a PoS or fully-mined coin but any diversion of hashrate from DRK means (1) more total DRK will be mined each day due to the block reward formula (2) a higher percentage will go to immediate dumpers because presumably the people on the multipool would be ones who like keeping their DRK. These two factors lead to increased selling (by some who directly mine DRK) that would offset the increased buying (by the multipool). The equilibrium wouldn't have changed.

Good point. I think it would help price. It would create steady demand on the buy side and that would increase price. Then there is more financial incentive to mine Darkcoin directly as well. I know many are already mining other coins to trade for darkcoin. And those who are supporting drk by mining directly for a seeming loss now are counting on an increase later.

The biggest factor in my mind is the psychological effect of knowing that there is steady buying support each day. People are petrified of pump and dump scams but if they know structurally there will always be buyers then they feel more comfortable in buying that coin. In essence just feeling like there is not a gaping hole to fall into when the dumping begins. This is BC's main advantage, the feeling of bagholder resistance. And as far as I can tell that's somewhat of a concern for some people here. It's a legitimate concern because there are so few barriers to entry in cryptocurrencies. So we should do what we can to protect share value and consequently community and confidence, which would be the effect of a Darkcoin multipool. I wish I knew how to do one. But I will contribute to the bounty!

tl;dr It takes the btc from overvalued scam coins and puts them into darkcoin. Which will induce confidence and increase value.

I also think it would help.  I'm far from an expert, but at the very basic level it creates a lot of buying pressure, which in turn drives up the price.  Every time the multipool sells off the crap coins, it produces huge buy orders for DRK, and obviously the ones the get eaten / bought up first, are the cheapest one, it then works it's way up until it gets to more more pricey coins, bumping the price. Rinse and repeat.

I hope I get some COMM finally...  Cry

I voted in Mintpal , promoted in bitcointalk and private groups attracting more than 50 people to this community... And I'm not in the second list.  Cry

Ditto, while some people have been given two million :/.  I remain hopeful.

I applied 2 days ago, followed the rules, still no coins.  I'm remaining hopeful still.

But it's a little sad to see some people have received 2 million coins.  And here is me, supporting the coin, and only 7.3 COMM from faucet.  I believe in this coin and will support it all the way.

If this is community coin, how about some of those people sitting with 1-2 million COMM coins in their wallet help out the rest of the community who weren't luck enough to get it?  THAT would be community spirit.

We're is the 2nd round list.

2nd distribution already began?

Is there still time to apply?

I think the second round list is here: http://ecoiner.org/communitycoin/2nd-round-raw-list-1684/

I applied last night, have been posting and voting, but don't see my name on the list.  Fingers crossed, this looks like a very promising coin.  And I'm planning on holding strong!

some suggestions below and something I would like to help implement e.g logo, cards, flyers, icons, banners, website layout

I will update now and then with this logo/branding concept with variations e.g. logo, metal coin version, sizes etc

again it is only a concept and not what the community have selected please use the current logo for all promotional purposes

Updated metal version 15.04.14

Nice work! I really like metal version 15.04.14

That metal one is awesome! I'd love to see that on the wallet, rather than the current one.  Great work.

we will proceed to send 2nd round today

from the total ~470 people we paid, we removed following people from the 2nd round distribution:
1. Those who cheated with same account different wallet addresses
2. Those who cheated with different accounts but we determined that they are all the same person
3. Those we accidently paid twice (only a few - so many payments sent)
4. Those who did not access their accounts for the last week
5. Those who sold the coins and/or encourage others to sell.
6. Those who attacked the COMM coin and devs

so about 330 people in 2nd round and 50-60 people in watch list

And for those who received 1 mil recently (after apr.10), if you never accessed the wallet, you are probably been put on our watch list
as for those who never access in about a week, we will remove them so for those, we may pay the 2nd round later if qualified

Good to know, I hope I will be one of these 330 lucky people.

I'm also hoping!  I applied late last night so hopefull to be on this batch, too hard to tell.

Planning on holding strong!

Is there any way to figure out a multipool for POW coins?

I was thinking the same.  After seeing what the blackcoin multipool has done to the value and interest in BC.  It has adds so much buying pressure it bumps the value so much.

I see no reason why it wouldn't work for DRK or POW coins.  There are multipools for BTC, which is POW.

It just mines other coins, and sells them, and buys up all the DRK.  Easy.

It would actually make perfect sense for DRK, as it's so bloody hard to mine right now, people could multipool mine it, and get a bunch of coins.  It would buy up all the cheapest DRK coins, time and time again, bumping the price.

Now who's smart. Go make a DRK multipool! haha.

all the alt coins increased 20-200%

darkcoin increased only 10%. on par with bitcoin.

also when darksend goes open-source all the other altcoins will benefit from it.

and darkcoin will lose its edge I fear.

Its not going to be that easy to paste the DarkSend code into the existing coins. It will take ALOT of work.

Since MOST coins are just clones, not many will have the knowledge to incorporate it.

Lets not make it too easy Wink.

I just found out I am on the rejected list.

I will take my bingo game and faucet somewhere else.

Please find someone else to help with the subreddit.

I really should not have put so much work into this coin.

Sad to hear illiki.. How are you so certain that you are rejected?
We need people like you.
I don't think so.
The dav said that list contains all members.

I'm not sure I completely understand the list either.  I applied  13 hours or so ago, and see the list was posted 7 hrs ago, maybe I didn't make it on to that list.  They must be super busy! So I'm not stressing.

Fingers crossed, as I'm a strong holder and believe in community power!

I misread the title of the list I was looking at.  I though I was looking at the rejected list but it is the list of people who have not yet been accepted. (or something like that)

I need to just breathe and not worry about it.  Maybe get out of the house.  The whole process is a little emotional for some reasons.

I am going to take the day off and come back tomorrow.  The tension is killing me. Smiley
Yes.
We just have to be patient. The dev really busy these days.
I think they need need more time.
