Where's the crazy guy on the milk crate yelling about how the sky is falling? I need his opinion on this.

Dood ditch the tinfoil hat. It's script kiddies, nothing more.
Script kiddies have better things to do with slave machines than DDOS bitcoin. Also, ignoring the fact that Bitcoin is a threat to special interest groups thus making it a target for attacks, is short sighted.

cgminer supports no more than 32 pools I'm afraid. I can remove that limit in the next version if it's desired...
How do you expect people to mine with a mere 32 pool limit? No wonder no one's using this software!

It's not "officially" dead until the "official" author declares it so.
This topic is FUD. No one declared anything except the irrelevant OP, which doesn't mean anything. If this were a movie, it's the part where the hero assumes the villain is dead, and is shot in the back as he turns away. Go watch Zombie Land, learn the ways of the Double-Tap

Does CGMINER support multiple backup/fallback pools?
I've noticed that a number of pools will be down or lagging at any given time, so I'm looking to set up 3-5 backup pools to mitigate all this downtime I'm seeing on my miners. Been using GUIminer up to now, but the 1 backup server option still leaves me running idle every now and then.

BRILLIANT!@12:05 3 things in this world you don't do:
Never mess with another man's woman. Never mess with another man's ego. And most importantly, you never mess with another man's money.
Else, the man will mess with you.

- Durability: in order to be a reliable store of value, money must stand the test of time.
There is still the issue of losing Bitcoins, like forgetting a password or losing the wallet file. I'm on the fence as to whether this even matters, as it just makes the remaining coins more valuable, but I have a feeling it'll come back down as a problem of some form.

@ 6:29 You can't make a single currency work for Germany and Greece, so the idea that you can make it work for the whole world, or the whole solar system, is ridiculous. Sound's like he's blaming the Euro for the crash, instead of the real problem, which is fractional lending mixed with deregulation and tax funded bailouts.

I know chances are slim, but I'm putting it out there. If you have one or are receiving one in the near future, and are interested in selling, send me an offer.

Wasn't there an algorithm that pruned those "re-sent" coins from the count? I inquired about the "Total Bitcoins sent" stat a few months back and that's the response I got

I have a similar problem. No better time to start learning. Well, as soon as you could read would've been better, but the point is, there's not going to be a better time...

Mine was 2 weeks ago I think we're all "bubble boomers" who came in a few months before BTC peaked at $30.

...Reverse engineer the code...
Can compiled code be reverse engineered that easily? I thought this was impossible, considering the big deal everyone makes over source code.
