401  Bitcoin / Legal / On legality of Bitcoin - legal till banned or banned till legal on: October 21, 2018, 01:16:39 PM
It seems to me there is much fear whether Bitcoin is legal or not in many places around the world. It isnunderstandable as most countries do not yet have systemic legislation on crypto assets, going as far as not even being able to legally define crypto currencies.

The answer to the question if Bitcoin is legal in such circumstances will depend on where one is from and the legal principles enshrined in their legal systems. In English common law system there is a principle that everything that is not expressly forbidden, is allowed. Try to find out if this is a principle where you are from. It has been adopted in many other countries as well.

Your starting point can be your consistution. If there is a general principle of freedom enacted in your constitution, it is a good start.

The next important principle in many legal systems is that there can be no crime nor criminal reprecusions if there was no previous law prohibiting certain acts as criminal (precisely), in latin: Nullum crimen, nulla poena sine praevia lege poenali, also: lege certa. This principle should be widely accepted around the world. Again, check your constitution. This principle guarantees that at the very least one will not be criminally persecuted for acquiring, holding or selling crypto assets if there was no law criminalising these actions at the time when they were executed.

I hope this will help the beginning of one's search if they are troubled by these questions.

But it is not on this web site.

Well that is because there is no blog option here. Smiley

Exactly Grin

I put my merit source blog on my talk merit domain -
The source - The merit awarding blog of Jet Cash

It didn't seem to get much interest, so it's a few months since I updated it.

But it is not on this web site.

The topic can be moved, I just thought it is relevant to Meta because of purpose of reducing spam posting  Smiley
405  Other / Meta / Member blogs on: October 20, 2018, 06:15:46 PM
I don't know if this is possible or not, but many forums offer the possibility for member to create their own blogs, which they can either share or restrict access to. They reduce spamming the forum itself, member can use them when they are not sure some content is wellcome on the boards or not and other member can chose whether they want to see/read that content. Just wanted to put this idea out there, maybe it can be used one day Smiley

they can kill Megathread

Ok now you got me worried. Are we all in danger here?

OMG this made me laugh so hard Grin. There is someone walking around thinking Megathread is the name of the journalist...

Anyway, the whole world is reacting. US may not want to lose some deals and that is fine, but to not strongly condemn such actions becase - taxes? C'mon.
407  Economy / Speculation / Who/what will fuel the next bull run? on: October 18, 2018, 04:08:59 PM
Many people expect there will be another bull run in the more or less near future. But who, whose money, what will be the fuel for next bull run? New investors? Smart money? Why? Do elaborate, I am very curious to know your thoughts.
408  Other / Meta / Re: Avatar question on: October 16, 2018, 05:56:28 PM
Not that I can have one yet Grin but when I AM able to have it, is it allowed to take an image from the internet and use it? Suppose it is not stated the image is copyrighted anywhere. What if anything should I be aware of and make sure of? I just don't want to do anything stupid. Cheesy

You're not going to get into trouble from the staff here unless it's NSFW or something, but if you use a copyrighted image of Justin Bieber as your avatar don't complain to us when the feds kick down your door and take away your hard drives.

LOL, I won't do anything like that Cheesy

I am just glad it won't be Hillary. She tried playing the feminist card, but her personal choices showed she does not mind if she is disrespected by men (meaning her own husband). Her actions didn't seem to match her words.

I’d like to setup a thread for all conversations relating to the death / murder of the Saudi Journalist.

Hellfish and I were chatting on this, and I think we’ve both agreed (after little research, from us) that we don’t think the US should go into full world police mode over something like this.

Article link here (archive for paywalls) - http://archive.is/x7Lmf

Not full world police mode, agreed. But Trump did the right thing when he warned the Saudis. Quite brave too, since Saudis are long term allies of the US. US has huge influence around the world and these symbolic (or not so symbolic) acts convey a strong message.

I just don't like how shady it was, it took everyone by surprise, I think it would've been better if they announced it before they started implementing it.

I think it would have been better if they announced it during the ICO clearly written in the white paper.

https://electroneum.com/overview-white-paper.pdf

Unfortunately I missed to read this in official whitepaper can you help us to find where it has been written in details. This will be really helpful for the community to stop complaining about that implementation of KYC.

I am pretty sure it is not in original whitepaper. But I see no reason for devs not to adapt to reality of wide adoption. Especially if it brings profit to investors by increasing coin price and value. I have said it before, if one is not laundering money or doing something illegal, regulation is not a bad thing.

That said, ETN dev better have a good data protection plan in place. They are responsible for data protection as I am sure they must be well aware of.

I think Kyc goes against some of the reasons why bitcoin and cryptocurrencies were created, if you have a small balance you can just do level 1 kyc and withdraw.

IF every cryptocurrency should be as bitcoin than there is no need to have other cryptocurrencies at all. People that want to have a have a copy of bitcoin should
just stay with Bitcoin, easy and simply as that.

I personally like different approaches by different crypto currencies. If someone isn't fine with KYC than indeed currencies like Monero and an exchange like tradeorgre are
a better fit. And for people like me, that don't have problems with KYC and aim for a mass adoption currency are fine with ETN, again easy and simple as that.

I have to agree with this. While I won't do KYC before I am ready to cash out, a lot of people took this as really great news, feel more comfortable with it like everything is clean and in turn with regulations.

I just don't like how shady it was, it took everyone by surprise, I think it would've been better if they announced it before they started implementing it.

They did say they were going to do it ahead of time

True, they did. I was able to move the coins to paper wallet until I am ready to sell them. You just need to properly follow the project and you will know what you need to know. It is due dilligence to follow your investments anyway.
414  Other / Politics & Society / Sexual abuse in catholic church - enough already! on: October 13, 2018, 04:37:00 PM
Every week there is news about even more sexual abuse of children in catholic church and cover ups by many bishops.

It seems it is spread beyond comprehension, yet none of the abusers have been excommunicated and very few ended up in jail. They just get trasferred to another post somewhere!

I am so sick of hearing this and I expect someone to REALLY do something about this! Pope's apologies and condemnations are not enough!

These volnurable kids trusted in these people and so did their parents. Instead of being cared for and protected they ended up having their lives ruined.

With this coin's relatively low supply, it will go sky high if they pull off what they are promising.

You seem to have gotten your first 2 merits easily enough (by making this topic). So you are your own proof one can make progress here.

419  Other / Serious discussion / Re: Democracy is dead. on: October 07, 2018, 03:06:21 PM
If people are electing some party; it is very much democratic.  It is not the few people to decide who will rule the country.  It is the majority who decides it.
So if the citizens elect one party at all the levels ; I think there is nothing wrong with it.  And people are intelligent; they closely monitor the working of a government.  And if they find they are not working for the safeguard of the interest of the people of the country; they can elect the opposition in next elections.  This is well known to the Government too.  So  they have the option to work honestly; for the betterment development of the people; if they desire to win next elections.

If people democratically elected ISIS to rule in their country, would you still call it a democracy?

The meaning of democracy is not just majority rule, there are values that are integrate part of what you call a democracy. They have started evolving before French revolution. One of them is human rights and when certain groups of people have their rights trumped - I am sorry, that is no democracy.
