With bitcoin just passing the $48.4k-ish mark today for yet another all time high, I just can’t imagine risking this any further. Even if the coin is a smaller amount, I think most of us would all agree the digital value is only going to rise over time.
Who’s s going to buy these coins and pay a large premium when they can’t even be sure they are funded?
I agree with you Ty....that 0.01 BTC that was worth only $100 awhile back, is now almost $500! Rather make sure I have the digital btc in my Trezor than find out it was swept as prices keep on mooning! Just my two Satoshis worth of an opinion...but to each his own I say. Cheers. Edit...and with scam coins, when you peel before they can take away your precious btc, you get to keep your digital btc and your physical coin as well.

when the private key is spent, use a wallet that has coin control to select the desired inputs, ignoring dust. dust is not an issue that people make it out to be
Exactly. IMO....A coin must be loaded with exactly the face value...and also match the year issued... example... Casascius 1 btc 2011 error should be loaded with exactly 1 btc in 2011...and not in 2012 or any other year for that matter
What about the 1Sochi and 1Enjoy dust on a bunch of Cas coins? I've heard others say they are more valuable with that dusting, as it's from the USSR World Olympics. Here's a look back at our old legendary pal Zepher's poll on this very subject. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1546441.0He's been gone over 2 years now; RIP, yet still a f*ckin legend! Others can say whatever they want....I never heard of this and never seen a Casascius coin auction selling with an extra premium just because they were dusted with anything or from anyone. I couldn't care less if Satoshi himself dusted it. Our bitcoin physicals are unique in the collectable world. Not only do some people want the physical purity, but also the digital bitcoin loading purity, with the correct year and amount. Count me in for both.

Been slowly documenting and saw something interesting that sparked some thoughts/questions..
If the face amount of the coin does not exactly equal the load amount of the coin, does that effect the numismatic value? (I have some thoughts here but would like to see what people think first)
What if the load value equals the face amount but has more than 1 input?
IMO....A coin must be loaded with exactly the face value...and also match the year issued... example... Casascius 1 btc 2011 error should be loaded with exactly 1 btc in 2011...and not in 2012 or any other year for that matter But anyone could potentially send random satoshis to anyone else's coin to ruin it. Heck, I could send 1,000 sats to every loaded casascius still out there. (not that I would) Then what? Yes you could...dusting. Then you would have no choice if all were. But if i had a choice...then a clean 1btc is the way to go with the correct loading year

I have an original 1 BTC spelling error Cas coin I'd like to sell, unpeeled, in circulated condition. How can I help a potential buyer know this isn't a forgery?
I ordered it straight from Mike's website way back when, and I have the email where they sent me shipping confirmation. Is that "good enough" proof?
Read this and make a want to sell thread. Upload pic to imgur.com and place username alongside date next to coin. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5277761.0

thanks! appreciate that
And just in case you didnt know...Casascius stands for C all A S pade A S pade C I U S As per Mike.. "Casascius is a name I made up before ever deciding I would use it for a coin project. The root, “CASAS”, is a simple acronym for the phrase “call a spade a spade”, to which I added an ending I thought would make it sound like a personified Shakespearean or Roman sort of name. It is properly pronounced “ka-SAY-shuss”, though I am not bothered by the variations I hear.https://casascius.wordpress.com/about/

I was asked by a member, he was trying to place the private keys of a loaded physical bitcoin like Casascius onto the electrum air gapped phone, but somehow electrum was not allowing him to type in the private keys manually. One way around this that worked out for me was to type in the private key on the phones mail...text..word wrap or anything that can be typed into..then copy and paste it on electrum.

Suggestion - There is some code floating around here that allows you to place the dollar (not sure about others such as euro etc) amount you want to receive for an item you’re selling that will then spit out it’s bitcoin equivalent. I’m not sure how often it updates however, every 1-5-10mns or if it’s live. But adding this in the OP for people to be able to use would be cool.
Anyone able to provide the code? Gracias.
