I would also like to know in how many years can 250 mil coins be produced ? At this rate few hundred years ?
1462  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Slimcoin : Proof of Burn NEW BLOCK GEN, Mineable by low power computer! on: May 29, 2014, 03:00:06 PM
I did just hit a PoB Mined block for 60.96 SLM on the wallet with the screen shots that I've posted earlier.

Was burning through the remaining balance with 8 SLM left in balance, so I'm UP when it confirms !

What the burning strategy? Any difference between burning all immediately, or in portions?

Burn all immediately and your coins are gone forever Smiley PoB is damn stupid. You need to burn per PoW block. The more you burn the better chance of hitting a PoB. Burn 40 and you get a PoB block of 50 for sure

PoB is the same deal, the more coins you burn the more chance you have to hit a block. PoB and PoW are very similar.

How is this probability calculated ? What stops someone burning 50 coins per block thus gaining 99% probability of hitting a PoB block ?

Anyway, i am out untill the dev explains the concept better. So far, most likely, someone is profiting on PoB difficulty, most probably the dev.

Burned over 100 coins, got 68 in return.

Windows QT client is so buggy, getting 0 balance while linux wallet shows correct XX balance.

Whitepaper - Because of this concept, it can be said that “burnt coins are mining rigs”, the main difference being the hardware demands.

Such bullshit.

I just got "-0.01" "mint by burn"... what the ** is that?

A bug

When did you burn the coin, at the previous block or earlier ? What i am trying to figure  out is if i will be getting anything more of the 100 coins i have burnt so far
1469  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Slimcoin : Proof of Burn NEW BLOCK GEN, Mineable by low power computer! on: May 29, 2014, 01:31:14 PM
slimcoin - please clarify if spent PoB coins provide any ongoing ROI over time or if once slimcoins are spent (without reward) they are fully spent i.e. 'burnt' ?

Somewhere in the thread you described PoB as being similar to buying mining equipment, which of course is not really guaranteed to provide any return on investment over time either. So, Is it simply 'luck of the draw' i.e. random ? or does having 'burnt' PoB coins increase PoW etc.

- off to read the white paper fully and study the full source code etc.

Thanks!

Dev is purposefully not answering questions which is sad.
1470  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Slimcoin : Proof of Burn NEW BLOCK GEN, Mineable by low power computer! on: May 29, 2014, 01:23:22 PM
Before you start burning away keep in mind its completely luck based. I have burned around 100 coins and got only 68 in PoB. You dont get a lower PoB diff then now so if you do burn, burn one at a time, per block (must be done manually until someone creates a script)

Whats the command line to burn one coin via linux wallet ?
1471  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Slimcoin : Proof of Burn NEW BLOCK GEN, Mineable by low power computer! on: May 29, 2014, 01:14:19 PM
Another 30 burned and got nothing Smiley This is not the coin for me Smiley

Whats with the decayed burnt coins ? Why would we care about it ?

Dev, did i actually hit a PoB block ?

It looks like it, type listtransactions in the debug window, show the output from that.

I just burned another 40 coins and got 0 .. not burning any more, this seems broken all over ..

And whats with the Decayed burnt coins amount ?
1475  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Slimcoin : Proof of Burn NEW BLOCK GEN, Mineable by low power computer! on: May 29, 2014, 12:58:41 PM
PoB blocks can be found only after a new PoW blocks have been found. The reward depends on what the PoB difficulty is, the last few blocks have had rewards of 80 coins.

Higher the PoB diff the less the reward ? or opposite ? At this rate PoB reward will be a one digit number (if max is 250)
1476  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Slimcoin : Proof of Burn NEW BLOCK GEN, Mineable by low power computer! on: May 29, 2014, 12:52:37 PM
There can be a PoB pool implemented via P2P pools so some sort. It is like solo mining in PoW. You burn a few and depending on how much you burn, the more likelier you are to find a PoB block. PoW is also based on luck, there have been people mining for hours and accumulated a few blocks and other have gotten 7+ blocks.

Are they interlinked ? Can only one PoB block be found during one PoS block ? If i was to burn 100 coins now, and i hit a PoB block, what would i get ? How do i know if i hit a PoB lock ?

And no, PoW is not luck based, not any more than on other coins, the more hash power you got the more of a chance to hit a block.

There is slimminer for dcrypt here: https://github.com/slimcoin/slimminer

yes, but can you compile it for windows using xms or so?

I compiled it using mingw. It uses the dcrypt algo by default. Too bad the difficulty is rather high now. It might take a while to see if it works or not Tongue

Compile a static for CentOS5.5 x64 and make 20SLM right now

sorry, I only have ubuntu 13.10 server x64 available (besides windows).

ubuntu runs up-to-date glibc compared to centos, wont work Sad Install a centos 5.5 vm, 30SLM reward , i am feeling generous today!

That -0.01 mint by burn may be a mistaken tx fee of some sort as it is the same value as the tx fees.

Another bug ?

Try typing listtransactions in the debug console and see what comes out there. A few PoB blocks have already been found so far and have been successfully accepted in the blockchain.

Using windows qt wallet here, 0 so far. Whats the point of burning if only one out of 100 burnt SLMs gets the PoB block ? Better ods playing the lottery Smiley
