Hello guys, I would like to ask a question. Can I run masternode from any PC? Is the masternode different from a hardware miner or masternode is applicable only to PC?
1. Usually you need linux as that is what is typicaly supported. 2. Yes any computer with 1GB ram should be good 3. You need static IP, one for each MN 4. Your MN needs to have 99% uptime Its better to just get a cheap VPS. You get them for 5$ a month. Cheap.

will be fun in July trolls, million units of the e3 + millions of units of nvidia volta hehe, eth difficulty 5x of today hehe. Today 3.3, in august 23.7 hehe
Only morons still mine ETH. There are countless more profitabla coins out there. Even ethash ones. But it takes time and dedication to follow the crypto world and know. To be honest I am not even sure ETH is going to recover from this fall.
|
|
|
Yea, I think its correct.
|
|
|
The cost is based on the current ETH price, if it goes up by Jul, the next batches will be more expensive. The real cost is 800 + 200 shipping (in US) + 130 ATX power supply, roughly 1100$ at the current prices, close to zero resell value. The same efficiency as GPUs. Takes less space. Huge +++ A lot of noise, around 80dbl ? So it will drive GPU prices down until they reach the equilibrium.
This won't kill GPU mining, but the GPU prices should get back to MSRP, that is a good thing.
Exactly, thats a very good thing actually for the GPU mining market. Insane inflated prices going down. And don't worry this won't kill GPU mining. The hashrate is the same as one GPU rig. It would take really a lot of these heaters to kill ethash. I actually like this ASIC announcment. First time for everything.

Lol, the Struena blockchain ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3124387.0) had the same genesis block issue. They started way earlier then EGEM and they are still pondering what to do with it. So in light of that, I think this coin did a good job tackling it so quick and solving the issue.
|
|
|
No need to thank me. I just wanted to post my observations. For now EGEM looks like a good project at least from a point of view of how it is run with the community. I cannot comment on code quality as I did not check it at all. To me it just seems that there is a lot of personal involment here and that is regretable. But that is us humans always measuring our egos . Well I do hope that the project is a sucess. And my advice to both parties. Nothing good ever comes out of hate and vengance. Please do try to act in the best way to benefit the community and settle the differences. Meet in a private channel and discuss the issues. Nothign is ever so serious that cannot be solved. Trust me. Good luck to all.

Wow the drama. Lol.
Well I am following them on Discord and for now I can say they act very friendly professional and they are there to help people. And that is what matter. We all make mistakes, but they corrected theirs in a correct way. So I will keep on mining, because it seems like an interesting project.
Just my 2 cents.

From the GIN discord: bredex - Today at 10:06 AM @everyone we have reached a conclusion regarding PROTON. Unfortunately we are permanently delisting the platform support for it for 2 main reasons:
- We do not think changing the rules of the game on the fly is fair to investors - The PROTON team did not announce their change in a timely manner, causing technical difficulties for technology partners like the GIN Platform
About the 30 PROTON MNs that were built through the platform: - A refund is not possible as we have already paid for those servers in full for the 28 days - We can reset the servers so they are used to build a MN of a different available coin - Even though we could reset the servers so the new PROTON collateral is used to set up a new MN for it, we do not recommend it because no future support for this coin is available, so future change of wallets is not supported - Any support request regarding this will most likely be addressed tomorrow, as only a few members of the team work on weekends, believe it or not, we are all humans.
All in all, we are really disappointed of this outcome and hope to minimise impact of this type of events on the platform users by ensuring a better quality of the listed coins, especially through the GINAT effort.
Since I summoned you anyway, stay close to the ann channel as we have big updates coming up. You probably already saw a few changes in the Platform, but hey, we don’t do a video press release for every icon we put up. Product first, words after! I totaly agree, it was done unprofessional and unethical. So that leaves you wondering what kind of shady moves they will do in the future.

The change of the masternode colateral is basically swindling of the customers. Is that how you treat the early investors to the coin? MN owners were suposed to have a say in the coin development and in the roadmap etc...Thats the whole point. You risk a lot by investing in new coin that may never deliver. And this is what you get in return. Being notified 2 days in advance that pay 5x more or gtfo. Ask yourself if this is the type of coin you want to be part of. Who knows how coin holders will be threated in the future. It does not speak well for the coin. I do understand why they changed the colateral but the way it was done was completely wrong. Also from the GIN discord. bredex - Today at 5:46 PM @everyone PROTON just pulled a prank on their investors and updated the consensus from 1000 coins for a MN to 5000 effectively making all the existing masternodes useless and forcing people to rebuild them (if they have 5000 coins!). Considering that we have 30 PROTON MNs hosted on the GIN Platform we are waiting for a few answers from them regarding this change to take an official position. However, the most likely outcome will be the removal of the coin (again) from the list of supported coins. Please stay in touch for an update later today. Still not sure if this is an Apr 1st joke or not...

I think I am late to the mining World but, is it still possible to still set-up a rig and still make profit?
Sure it is. But the ROI is much much longer.
|
|
|
Now I am venturing more and more into mining as my colleagues have put their mining computers in our company and I am the IT and watch over them. By looking at their behavior mining Ethereum is still somewhat a bit profitable but not worth all the investment they have done, ROI is quite far away for the moment.
I started reading about low value coins and Musicoin came up to almost every google search that I did, I checked their calculator and you can make a really big amount of Musicoin just in one day with one mining computer with six graphic cards. I also read the walletinvestor website where predictions is that after a few years this coin can give yearly profit of +387%. This was tempting and I told them to switch to mine directly Musicoin but they refused.
What do you say, it is wise to switch or I am wrong ?
It has potential, but as everything in crypto there is no guarante. And just a friendly advice, ignore prediction sites like "walletinvestor". They are useles. Check predictions for this year, do you think they will come true? Now as for mining, it it depends what hardware do you have. If its AMD then go for it, because ethash is the best algo out there for AMD. Or at least the best without a really deep investigation and a lot of time sniffing out weird coins and algos. I would say just mine Ethereum a while back, but today...try Pirl or Musicoin, why not. I am for instance mining some neoscrypt coin now and have a masterplan lol. If I make it, is a different story. Now if you have Nvidia its a different song. Ravencoin is popular right now. Equihash is also good on Nvidia and some other algos also. Just do some research. Won't talk about Nvidia to much, because I only have AMD. And P.S, now are not the best time for mining, so hang on in there. I hope to get better till the end of the year.

interesting how to join?
You can mine it, or buy on Graviex.

Some people here talk about special kernels. I have good CPD on my Radeon cards, but how did some people get over 0.5 CPD per RX 580? I get 0.42 max. Any suggestion are very much appreciated how much appreciated? I am not a large scale operation (10 GPUs only), so while it still matters to me its more of a thing that I wan't to optimize everything I can to the fullest. But if you mean if I am willing to pay? Well I can donate some ofc but not much. I am quite dry at the moment. If you want to share for the community then I am sure a lot of people will be very gratefull. But I will understand if you don't want to, so no problem.

Hello! Your project looks interesting. So I can join your ICO - but can you tell me please what kind of hard and soft cap?
You can buy the coins on Graviex, or mine them.

When the algo changes and the roadmap is release, then this coin will be rising.
The dev wants to change algo? why? Two reasons as far as I can see: 1. Neoscrypt algo is percieved as shitcoin algo (most new MN coins are on that algo and a lot of tham are just copy paste). Chaning to a really hot algorithm which is really ASIC resistant is great 2. Current algo does not prevent NiceHash to fluctuate hasrate a lot and nicehash also is dumping coins on the go because of the auto exchange option. This affect the price in the negative way. I only see good thing with algo changing. Which algo it is, is not for me to say

I still don't understand if there's a new algorithm, or if the coin dies?
There will be a new better algorithm soon. Stay tuned.

I see every minute network hashrate lost power. Whats happened with electroneum ?
The price went down so miner moved to more profitable coins.
