He has a point, everyone wants something for nothing. But it looks like one has been started: https://github.com/metalicjames/Lyra2-OpenCL

LOL. Did you read my post? I said that closed miners are the same as ASICs, not about freebies.
803  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Vertcoin - First Scrypt N | First Stealth Address - Privacy without mixer on: October 29, 2014, 11:25:10 AM
. To GPU miners, I need someone who can implement it and I can provide the code. You can PM me for discussing.

Regards

Can you post this on reddit regarding finding someone to implement the gpu mining? After you post that on reddit I can cross post on the necessary subs to find someone to do this. thanks

If new algo coming and it's purpose is ASIC resistance, the major problem is the lack of open source GPU miner. Otherwise the whole idea of ASIC resistance is broken, because if ability to mine coins only in fewer peoples’ hands there is no much difference from ASIC.
So that you can benefit from other people's hard work?

If you have nothing to say, just STFU. You can always launch your own coin with closed algo and closed miner so you will be the one and only miner there.

You can always check pool hash distribution here ( http://minexmr.com/pools.html ) and here ( http://xmr.poolto.be/#alternative ). Here is a sample of the big pool distribution from the last 30 min (I think this image should stay up-to-date):

Please support one of these pools or another pool who you think is helping to support the network, not just the pool with the easiest to remember/type domain name Wink

You have to fix charts, 10MH is not 46% of 17.

FYI, if you are using nethash reported by daemon it's right value. Open source pools reporting incorrect hashrate using weird division by 1024 instead of 1000 to report Kilo, and Mega units.

Just did isolated test using latest pool software and 1.2b version of this miner. Duplicates spotted in logs immediately:

So what's your point? Leaving aside moral matters.

I double resistant's post. Running monero pool is very expensive and such crappy software made it much more expensive. I didn't count ignorants who running a pool and can't understand a difference between valid share or trusted one.

Many legit miners still mining this coin and it's not good for everyone if they will be screwed by fake PoW and loose money. I know some miners in person and I feel some responsibility.

1.2b!? Roll Eyes ..... 1.4 (faster+ low fee than Claymore 9.1) came out week ago...i suggest you to use 1.1 or 1.0 its more funn  Grin

Funny how ignorants will stay till death on their own. Initial idea was kminer testing against exploiting pools. I did it. It does not matter what future versions does.

Just did isolated test using latest pool software and 1.2b version of kachur miner (kminer). Duplicates spotted in logs immediately:

Conclusion: KMiner = SCAM. Stay away, reinstall OS if you used it. It demand admin privileges, who knows what surprises hidden in later versions.

Guys, it seems some suspicious russian proprietary miner kachur is very popular already. I'd like to say that this mining software proven SCAM. I banned several miners after I found duplicate share vulnerability and all miners spotted in logs with attempt to submit duplicate share were using this software. Stay away from not trusted developers, there is no even BCT thread for this miner.

If you are trusted person, we can test this miner in isolation, I'll run test pool and can give you early binaries, because after vulnerability fix they probably deleted duplicate submission functionality.

I can't get the wallet to install from source on my MAC and I don't like running it otherwise.
So, I need to give Mintpal my Poloniex address with Payment ID...
But thanks for the suggestion.

You don't have to install from source on Mac. If you on Mavericks.

https://github.com/sammy007/homebrew-cryptonight

You can build from source or use precompiled binaries. Just read README.

I am going to create bottles (binaries) for Yosomite later today, but I need time to install new SSD and Yosomite on my Mac.
814  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency (mandatory upgrade) on: October 16, 2014, 01:31:00 PM

All 3 transaction have simply disappeared, written off and lost coins. https://minergate.com/blockchain/mro/blocks
How can this be? I always translated coins in such a way and never had any problems.
What do I do now? How to return the coins?

Run latest daemon with latest blockchain, let it sync.
Delete (but keep .bin.keys file) wallet.bin and run simplewallet --wallet-file wallet.bin.
815  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency (mandatory upgrade) on: October 14, 2014, 05:45:43 PM
Intersting...I know 4 people (13Kh/s) who (still) mining on your pool with Kminer ( kachur miner 1.3 & 1.4) and they never banned...

I never said that I banned all users of this miner. I said that several banned users for attempts to submit duplicate shares emailed me with details about what miners they are using. Vulnerability fixed a couple of weeks ago and it's obvious that new versions were released after fix, there is no need to keep this exploit in miner any more. Details of this vulnerability is available and it's not miner's bug.
816  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Aeon coin - CryptoNight - CPU only on: October 14, 2014, 05:29:58 PM
Well, guys, brew formula delivered using smooth's repo.

https://github.com/sammy007/homebrew-cryptonight

brew tap sammy007/cryptonight
brew install aeon --HEAD -v

Run:

/usr/local/Cellar/aeon/HEAD/bin/aeond
/usr/local/Cellar/aeon/HEAD/bin/simplewallet

PS: blockchain.bin is pretty outdated, I can upload Linux and OSX (I need to sync it) to mega tomorrow.

If there will be tags one day, I'll upload OSX binary bottles (homebrew will be required anyway).

Maybe someone should remove the "Coin discontinued" from the OP

Nice catch, it's confusing.

If you, guys, need irc bot just like on #monero channel, I can create it and host, but someone please provide node with RPC. Also, I will add Aeon to my Mac HomeBrew recipes soon.
