1  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: lost secondary password and some of Wallet Recovery Phrases lost too. on: October 13, 2020, 10:46:36 AM
I'm also having trouble with my blockchain account specifically the second password. When I logged in on my phone today after about a month to try send some funds it asks you first for the second password which it didn't used to do. It was always the last thing before you finally sent the funds. However, when I put the password in it says incorrect password which it isn't and I'm 100% sure of that. All my funds are still there. I wonder if this is just an error with the updated app as the layout has changed a bit??? I think I've only ever been asked to input the second password once upon log on years ago when they changed their system up. It made me a bit worried but everything was fine. Anyone know whats up with this??? I'll try log onto my desktop wallet when I'm back on a safe computer and see if it's the same.

I've been using it for years and only really use it as a wallet on the go so don't have much in there. It was workign fine last month.

Sounds like you were using the old Blockchain.com UI. The instructions at To those who lost their Blockchain.info Secondary Password.. say that Blockchain sent their users a wallet.aes.json file in an email attachment that needs to be imported to regain access to your funds. This link was also posted somewhere above this thread.

Apparently the secondary passwords were deleted during the update:

Basically blockchain.info used to have a second password feature, they deleted this. Does anyone else know a web wallet with a second password? does the trezor / ledger have a second password?

Thanks. It's weird that they wouldn't notify users of this. I'm not sure I have my json file though. I have my back up phrase. Is that enough??? I searched my emails for the json file and nothing comes up and searching them for 'blockchain' the earliest message I have from them is the 'welcome to my wallet' one but it doesn't include the json file. I don't believe I have deleted any mails. I checked another older account/email for a different wallet there and it seems I have the json on that one which is in a separate email that came straight after the welcome message, but that's no use to me as there's no coins in that one.

I'm just going to cross post this here as I'm also having trouble with my second password and maybe it's relevant or someone can help me out:

Sorry I can not login. after I enter my main password the site asks for the secondary password:

That is very strange... I have "second password" enabled (as per the screenshot above), but I'm not prompted to enter it when I login Huh

Anyway, your best shot at recovery is using the seedrecovery python script that is part of btcrecover as mentioned by NotATether.

Missing 4 words is not much, could be brute-forced. Do you know the address?
What kind of address do you mean?
You will need to know at least one of the addresses that was generated by your Blockchain.com wallet (preferably one of the first 5-10 addresses that you used)... seedrecover needs this so it can check each valid seed mnemonic combination that it generates is the correct one by checking to see if it generates the same addresses that were in your wallet

Wow, 16 goals just between the Manchester United and Liverpool games. I kind of expect this from United but not Liverpool. What the hell happened??? I think it's kind of good that they lost as it makes things a bit more interesting and I'd like to see a different team other than the big six win it. Everton have been playing really well and the Merseyside derby is next for Liverpool so that should be interesting especially as Everton are sitting in first place right now.
5  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcoin talk could fix the spam in one move....REMOVE SIGNATURE...Right?? on: October 05, 2020, 08:13:58 AM
It would stop signature spam for sure. Not trolls or people shilling their projects.

It will not happen for 3 reasons at least:
  • theymos are welcome newbies and would prefer to give people opportunities to earn money here
  • The forum has solutions to reduce spam, and effects from spam advertisements, prevent spammers rank up to high positions.
  • Members on their sides, can disable both avatar and signature in their profile settings.

1 The owner of this site has mentioned before somewhere that he may remove signature campaigns at some point if they become a problem.
2 Rank doesn't stop people from spamming and any rank can spam. If campaigns accept Juniors or Members getting 1-10 merit isn't hard. There's also a lot of older accounts that ranked up before the system that spam even when they're Hero or Legend.
3 Disabling signatures or avatars doesn't remove the spam. It's still there just without the advertisement which still ruins discussion.
6  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Simplest way to generate a PGP key??? on: October 05, 2020, 08:07:12 AM
Well, maybe it's due to the fact i haven't used any desktop environment in a while, but i think using a gui overcomplicates things quite a bit.

The simpelest way would be
  • open a terminal
  • gpg --gen-key
  • leave default settings, enter name + email
  • chose a password

done

No need for all those gui clicks'n'misses... Just open a terminal, enter one command, follow the wizard and you're done...
I already tried that. See above. I managed to generate a personal PGP key but I don't know where to go from there.

I did manage to get this far before but then how do I use those to encrypt/decrypt messages as there doesn't seem to be any way to do this??? Thanks.
... I've been asked to encrypt a message and I'm having difficulties generating my key.

What exactly has the other party requested that you do with regards to "encrypting a message"? Huh Are they wanting to communicate using PGP encrypted emails or IMs or something? Or have they asked that you "sign a message" using a Bitcoin address? Huh

I can sign a message from a bitcoin address. I'm looking to try figure out how to encrypt and decrypt messages for communication.
7  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Simplest way to generate a PGP key??? on: September 29, 2020, 08:50:25 AM
I just tried this on Ubuntu 18.04... At first, nothing seemed to happen after entering the password, but then after a second or two, I see this:

It's possible that you are missing some libraries that are required for generating the GPG key... it might pay to try creating it on the command line, so you can see any errors generated... open a terminal window and type:
Code:
gpg --gen-key

Then follow the instructions... note that it might take quite a while (as in minutes) once it says:
Quote
We need to generate a lot of random bytes. It is a good idea to perform
some other action (type on the keyboard, move the mouse, utilize the
disks) during the prime generation; this gives the random number
generator a better chance to gain enough entropy.

I tried that but all I got was the "We need to generate a lot of random bytes" and then nothing :

And the key should be automatically added to the list in the "Passwords and Keys" application as well:

I did manage to get this far before but then how do I use those to encrypt/decrypt messages as there doesn't seem to be any way to do this??? Thanks.

They matched as it will only let your proceed of they do. I only used a 4 pass character initially just to test it. I just tried a 10 character one and it was the same.
9  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Manny Pacquiao vs. Conor McGregor on: September 28, 2020, 04:05:48 PM
I doubt this will happen even though Conor says it will and Manny's camp seem to suggest they're working on it. If they both need the money they should just fight people in their respective sports. Connor is a great MMA fighter but he's not going to beat a world class boxer despite Manny getting on a bit now and being out of action for a while. Fans are desperate to see him in the UFC again so why not just give people what they want??? No big boxing matches are going to take place anytime soon due to covid restrictions anyway so he might as well fight in the UFC as at least Dana has managed to put fights on behind closed doors. He can fight in the UFC and do these big boxing matches when he's able but without building up a bit of a buzz first I think he might not be as popular as he once was and the fight could be a flop or not command anywhere near the same amount of eyeballs as the Mayweather fight did.
10  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2020/2021 on: September 28, 2020, 04:02:44 PM
A beautiful premier league weekend, with everyone exposing their bias comments and review. Manchester City was massacred today by the Leicester team and then everyone suddenly blames the backline. Why not appreciate the winning team?

If Manchester united loses or lampard, the narrative is that they are poor coaches, and pogba is a bad player, but when city loses, suddenly pep is not at fault and everyone neglects Debruyne disasterclass performances.

A beautiful premier league season, but var is causing confusion with several irregular decisions.
Should we expect a liverpool massive performance tomorrow?  or an arsenal victory?

I don't think it's biased but City were the odds on favorite to win and when they do lose it's usually due to errors made and people are just pointing that out, but that's not to take anything away from Leicester but Manchester City did give away two silly penalties. Leicester's non-penalty goals were world class though so I'll give them that. I can't wait to watch City vs Leeds next weekend. Who knows what will happen in that game. If City play with the same team I think there could be some a lot of goals from both sides as Leeds have been scoring a lot but also conceding. If City have their full team out they should probably beat the quite easy but Liverpool didn't manage that so who knows.
11  Other / Beginners & Help / Simplest way to generate a PGP key??? on: September 28, 2020, 03:56:57 PM
Hey everyone. Not sure if this is the right section but I've been asked to encrypt a message and I'm having difficulties generating my key. I'm trying to do it on ubuntu and am following this youtube guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ww1oMgB4Lnk

But I can't seem to figure out how to generate a key as when I get to the part where it should generate after clicking ok nothing happens. In the video his system is called 'passwords and encryption keys' whereas mine is just 'passwords and keys'. Not sure if his is an older system or not. Can anyone explain how to do it or is there an simple idiot proof way to do so??? I can use a windows computer to try it but would prefer to keep it to ubuntu if possible. Thanks.

Nice. Will there be Sportsbet  logo on the shirtsleeves or something or is it just a brand deal??? You guys must be spending a fair bit on advertising but it's nice to see you promoting bitcoin as well.
I'm guessing it's a brand deal since we didn't get to see any shirts like how the NBA have partnerships with certain companies but this is still huge since we rarely get to see bitcoin casinos get involved with football teams.

It probably is just a brand deal but also the shirts might not be ready yet as that often happens, especially when deals are announced late. The Watford shirts didn't have the BTC logo on the sleeves of their home game (assuming they're going to be there).
13  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🚀 Sportsbet.io - Official betting partner of ARSENAL FC 🚀 on: September 17, 2020, 09:20:37 AM
How about the sponsorship with Watford? Is this sill going on, and how are you going to promote both teams in the topic?

Absolutely.. we honour our contracts through thick and thin...

We got this picture through internal communications tonight. WATFORD are now actively embracing and promoting BITCOIN and loving it Smiley

Hoping Southampton feels the love soon too!!

regards,

Steve.
Sportsbet.io

Is it going to be on their home shirt as well or just the other kits???

Hi Guys,

After a few weeks of some hard work and many a zoom call.. We have some big news to announce that is super exciting for all of us!   Grin Grin

Today we take one more step in our Crypto Currency Sportsbetting evolution by joining forces with ARSENAL FOOTBALL CLUB.   Shocked Shocked

14  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Error in seed phrase generation on Coinomi??? on: August 20, 2020, 01:16:09 PM
I just need an easy to use phone/android wallet to use that lets you scan QR codes to send money to. I was using blockchain.com's wallet and it's fine enough but I keep getting requests to use segwit and that seemingly doesn't use them. Does anyone have any recommendations of ones that can do this???
If you are just wanting to transact using Bitcoin, and QR codes is important, then I would suggest either Electrum or Mycelium. The UI on Mycelium is subjectively better/easier... but I personally think Electrum is a better wallet.

Both support SegWit addresses.

I just downloaded both. Mycelium seems a bit easier to use and more user friendly. Electrum seemed a little laggy/unresponsive as well. Took a while of me tapping the password input box to confirm my password before it popped up to allow me to do so.

When logging into mycelium on another device is there no log in details? It didn't seem to give me any so do I just log in with my seed?
15  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Predict the Bitcoin price & win 0.015 BTC! on: August 20, 2020, 01:04:49 PM
Surely it would be better to wait until as close to August 30th to make your predictions??? Who knows how much bitcoin will have fluctuated by then so your guesses could be wildly out. I'll be checking back here at least later on to make my guess  Grin.
16  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Error in seed phrase generation on Coinomi??? on: August 19, 2020, 06:53:22 PM

P.S. i suggest not using Coinomi at all unless you have absolutely no other choice. it is closed source and nobody knows what it does in the background with your seed or what bugs it has.

I just need an easy to use phone/android wallet to use that lets you scan QR codes to send money to. I was using blockchain.com's wallet and it's fine enough but I keep getting requests to use segwit and that seemingly doesn't use them. Does anyone have any recommendations of ones that can do this???

Hi. I was wondering if anyone can help me out here??? I just generated a new coinomi wallet and it gave me two of the exact same words back to back in my 24 word recovery phrase. The penultimate two words before the last one in my phrase are the exact same. I thought that was weird as I was under the impression that they're meant to be randomly generated and the odds of that happening must be astronomical.
The words are simply encoding 11 bits of data... so out of your groups of 11 bit sequences, if you have two that are identical, you'll get the same "word" shown in your mnemonic.

It's not that uncommon... I helped a fellow out a while back who only had 23 words written down out of a 24 word seed mnemonic. Turned out, after my script managed to bruteforce the correct seed mnemonic, that the missing word was identical to the one next to it, which explains why he missed it out when writting it down! Shocked Wink Undecided

The thing to be more concerned about is that Coinomi is broken! Yet another reason to avoid it at all costs Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Undecided  Definitely contact their support and let them know...

It's a bit alarming for sure. A newbie could easily lose their coin if they're not careful, or at least think they've lost them.

17  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: blockchain.com still not utilizing Segwit? on: August 17, 2020, 03:18:41 PM
Sorry to bump an old thread but does anyone know if blockchain.com has implemented segwit yet??? I don't seem to be able to create a segwit address there. Surely there's a way??? I did a bit of searching on google but I couldn't really find anything. Thanks.

Not to my knowledge.

As long as Roger Ver retains a hand in it it's unlikely to happen unless their numbers fall away big time. You can do your bit by telling them you won't use them until they pull their fingers out of their sphincter.

There may a bunch of back end work they'd need to do that they can't be bothered to do. Not sure and not arsed. Almost anything else is a better alternative anyway.

Dang, they still not done it. I'll probably move away from them as the fees can be quite large sometimes. I can understand it might be a bit of back end work and they need to make it a smooth transition, but it's been a few years now so they should have implemented it. Shame because it is a slick and easy mobile wallet to use. I tried signing up to coinimi today but there seems to be an error with their seed generation if you can help me out there: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5269451.msg55013546#msg55013546

19  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: BlockChain.com not sending Wallet ID Reminder on: August 17, 2020, 02:19:56 PM
Are you sure you didn't sign up to a phishing site??? As someone above mentioned, those don't look like the official emails. You could try send a small amount to one of the addresses in your wallet as I believe you get a notification from Blochchain.com once a payment is received and that usually contains your wallet identifier, assuming you set this up and you didn't sign up to a phishing site.

Did you have the recovery seed? If you did you should try recover the wallet but make sure you're on the right site or use a different wallet to recover your funds.
20  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League Discussion Thread on: August 17, 2020, 01:47:29 PM
sevilla 1 - 2 manchester united

why was bruno fernandes scoring a penalty like that when they were playing a very important game? it looked like he was making fun of his opponent and in the end he lost by 2 goals. It is time for Manchester united to hire another coach and the worst was that this game manchester united had a great chance of winning, it was not a very difficult game for manchester united and he was losing in a regrettable way. What was missing at manchester united was having players who score a lot of goals.

He didn't lose them the game and they lost by one goal. And what was wrong with the penalty??? He scored didn't he? It looked like a good penalty to me. It seemed like a good tactic because it makes the keeper make the first move. And what is wrong with the coach??? He's got them to the semi finals and they finished third in the Premier League, which is better than sixth the previous season. Coaches shouldn't be sacked everytime they don't win a trophy. Why are you not calling for the players on the field to be sacked as it's them that should foot the blame here (even though I don't think they played bad). People and club owners need to stop making the coaches the scapegoats for poor performances. I think Ollie has done a decent job all things considered and I was even a sceptic of him managing a team such as United.

Today I'm going against the majority and pick Shakhtar to win - odds are so good for it. And I think they are understimated too much without a reason, they been really solid so far, scoring 7 goals in 2 games. Though, they had easier opponents than Inter. Offcourse, Inter is favorites, but it's just one game, everything can happen. I think Shakhtar have better chances than Lyon had against City.

It's a hard game to call. They' will have the underdog spirit but I think Inter will win. Not sure I would put money on it but it's a game I will watch.
