781  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Boom Festival 2014 now accepting bitcoins! on: January 25, 2014, 06:17:44 PM
Sounds great!! Yet another step in the right direction! So we have stores, festivals, universities, bars. What else do we need to get by? A supermarket would be good.

A website where you can buy any drugs you want... oh wait.

The end goal is to be able to buy anything you could possibly want with it, and every time something like this announces they're taking BTC, it is, like you said, a step in the right direction.

Yeah exactly. Just waiting for news of the first house paid for on bitcoin (not cashed to fiat first).

Good to see this in a thread. Not been discussed on here for 10 minutes.
783  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CheapAir.com accepting Bitcoin for flights! on: January 25, 2014, 06:12:23 PM
I wonder if Branson will accept them on Virgin Atlantic flights since you can buy a ticket to space on Virgin Galactic, but I guess that's more of a niche ticket so he can afford the gamble Grin.

I'd bet it won't be long before he adopts it. It seems like the sort of thing he'd be interested in blazing a trail with.

Yeah, but he's got a board and other members to please. He only owns 51% of VA now.

Ah really. Didn't know that. Yeah I suppose it would take a lot of convincing. But the case studies from Tiger and Overstock can only help with that.
784  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fiat in the event horizon of BTC....thats how you explain it. on: January 25, 2014, 05:24:44 PM
I think what he may be hinting at is that at some point in general adoption, Bitcoin may become so ubiquitous that fiat currencies such as the US dollar will no longer be used much at all, perhaps never.

Right, I didn't glean that. What's 'the event horizon'? It confuses my English syntax. Lol.
785  Other / Off-topic / Re: How much money have you ever made online? on: January 25, 2014, 05:22:45 PM
I've made a fair bit with CPA Lead and Neverblue in the past. They're marketing networks that pay you for driving traffic to advertisers links and offers. When people complete the offers you get paid. Difficult to get into, and it can be a little unscrupulous (batch posting to people's Facebook wall) but it paid very well for a while
Like anything, it only lasted so long before rules changed but there are still people over at CPALead shouting big earnings.

Poon.  Cool
787  Other / Off-topic / Re: HSBC imposes restrictions on large cash withdrawals on: January 25, 2014, 05:16:04 PM
This made me angry just reading it. Nobody should be obligated to tell ANYONE what they want to spend their own money on. What are they going to do, deny the withdrawal if it isn't a 'good enough reason'. How about, 'because I don't trust you with my money'. Wonder how that would have gone down.
788  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you send Bitcoin from an iPhone? on: January 25, 2014, 05:13:17 PM
The Blockchain.info app works great on the iPhone, even without jailbreaking it. I made a payment to someone today, and he received it nearly instantaneously.

No problem.

I saw a video with a London pub taking bitcoin payments with the Blockchain.info app. Thy just use the app to scan your QR code. Easy.
789  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What would you sell at? on: January 25, 2014, 05:07:43 PM
When the market becomes mainstream... Only spend each day what I needed to... The rest keep in Bitcoin and watch it keep going to the moon and beyond!  Smiley

Haha. If only. I'd like to be able to do this too eventually. We can already get most things we want in bitcoin. Next stop - groceries (uk)
790  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fancy Accepting Bitcoin. Really cool stuff! on: January 25, 2014, 05:05:33 PM
Just bought a leatherbound USB charger for my car.

Not a huge purchase, but doing my part Smiley

Nice one dude. Every little helps the bitcoin economy

Very cool. Would be nice, as others have said, to see other seasonal designs

797  Other / Off-topic / Re: How do you feel about this? on: January 25, 2014, 01:35:42 PM
Not good at all, but unfortunately hard to find a manufacturer that doesn't do this. People like to think they don't support this sort of thing but sure most people would be more opposed to prices going up to allow fair wages without hurting profit margins.

There's an alternative coming in the mobile phone industry, called PhoneBlocks. There are some good vids on youtube explaining it. Essentially, it's a phone with customisable/replaceable parts. Must be better for the environment too.

Wasn't that just a concept and not an actual workable idea? It's great as an idea, but I'm not sure how workable or how easy it is to implement.

Nope, Motorola have teamed up to start making it

http://m.ibtimes.com/phonebloks-motorola-partners-3d-systems-modular-smartphone-future-project-ara-1485168

I'm still sceptical this will work out, and if it does it won't work anywhere near as well or look like how it's presented in that video.

What makes you say that?

Because the technology and electronics doesn't really work as easily as just swapping parts around - Phones are not just elaborate lego designs. It's a great idea, but not sure how technologically feasible it is. Read the comments: http://hackaday.com/2013/09/13/ask-hackaday-can-we-do-better-than-phonebloks/ & http://www.reddit.com/r/electronics/comments/1m4m0f/this_is_currently_on_the_front_page_a_good/

I'd love to be proved wrong though.

Yeah maybe you're right. I would have thought Motorola would know a little about electronics though. I guess we will see. My wifi has gone in my iPhone so I'm all for being able to replace it that easily!

Well it's a good idea, but not sure if they can pull it off as much as they'd like too. They'll probably just end up with a phone where you can replace the battery or a few other parts easily. If they do succeed I doubt it'll look or work as slick as the one in that video, but as I say, I'd love to have my scepticism demolished.

Yeah you're probably right. Think that's just the concept at the moment. This idea can be applied to loads of things. Cars that you can upgrade/replace parts easily without a mechanic,
For example.

Can you guys show me another safe place but make money easily for me to work?

Define 'safe' and what are you prepared to do?  Cheesy

Protip: There are no places for you to easily make money online; it's a myth.
Well, I don't know about easy, but you can post here for sig campaigns. If you don't have a job, you can take this one up as a job.

I agree it's probably the simplest and quickest way, but maybe not if you're going for the big bucks as you have to put quite a bit of effort in Grin.

Yeah, and it can be at the mercy of the forum owners, removing threads and forums areas when they want.
799  Other / Off-topic / Re: Movie Recommendation Station on: January 25, 2014, 01:29:23 PM

I love how Whalberg doesn't even try in his movies. I started watching 2 Guns a few weeks ago but my bros bluray player decided it didn't want to play the file 20 mins in  Grin.

The only film I like Whalberg in is The Other Guys. He's got great comedic timing which was unexpected.

Or the director etc have a lot of patience

Haha yeh good point. Either way he did very well with it. Some of the funniest bits come from him.
