521  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: DNotes 2.0 - Staking, CRISP Interest, DNotes Pay on: August 07, 2018, 03:54:05 PM
I will be looking into decentralized and hybrid exchanges. Most are token exchanges for things like ERC20 tokens. If you have any suggestions for decentralized or hybrid exchanges, please let us know.

Just FYI Exchange- www.Listex.io, withdraws are not working at all. Ive tried Note, BTC, and Dash. I Submitted my first Dnotes withdraw Aug 4 around noon. It Still says accepted yet nothing happens. I have not received any emails from this exchange (other than support registration) and they dont appear to be answering support tickets. Its been 48 hours or so for a support ticket.

Just wanted to let everyone know. Hopefully they are just fixing some bugs on there end, I will let you know if the status changes

Thanks mrbum805, I have emailed them about withdrawals. It appears they have launched but the exchange is not complete. Until they get up to speed I will remove them from our lists.

Technical question to the DNotes team from a long term investor:

Is OP_CHECKLOCKTIMEVERIFY (BIP65) implemented in the DNotes 2.0 code?

If so, it makes DNotes interoperable with many other coins via atomic swaps and can be traded with them on BlockNet's decentralized exchange. No sign-up fees, no delistings, no KYC, no limits and 100% full ownership over your private keys. Interoperability makes it possible to pay with DNotes for services on other blockchains such as the Syscoin Blockmarket or Siacoins data storage.

Thank you Wosterlee, I appreciate you bringing this to our attention. Decentralized exchanges are something that we need to investigate more closely as far as getting DNotes listed on the existing ones. The opcode for BIP 65 is in the code https://github.com/DNotesCoin/DNotes2.0/search?q=OP_CHECKLOCKTIMEVERIFY and I will bring this up and for further investigation and prioritizing. Do you currently use Blocknet DX? If so, how would you describe your experience using it? And do you think getting DNotes listed there will have a significant on DNotes market?

Thank you for you interest. I'll try to make a brief summary for you. Blocknet is an interoperability protocol and is now working on it's first 'Dapp' which is the DEX. However, Blocknet strives to make every aspect of the exchange decentralised, unlike most exchanges and hybrid DEX's. Currently you are able to trade, but it will require some effort and there is little to none liquidity. You would need to download the wallet+blockchains of each coin that you want to trade and link them using the rpc ports. Blocknet is now working on expanding the exchange features (limit orders, order history) at the moment together with their partner VSA partners, a company from Chicago that developed the GUI. To really lower the hurdle for the average Joe, Blocknet is looking for ways to implement a multiwallet or lite clients for each coins. There is now ongoing debate however if Blocknet should make these lite wallets or if these should be provided by the initial coin developer.

There is way more to get into, maybe it's best to start with this youtube video of the team explained their product: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DY53_QlsIWA&t=1&30s=

You can apply for integration using this form:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScgW8lm9qwPf1pP3ROlydU410kGG9XQzhI5NwgMF8GuRtGQfg/viewform

That sounds like it could make for a really exciting possibility for DNotes, especially if, as Joe said, the necessary bit of code is in DNotes that would allow for atomic swaps!

Great, appreciate all the info. I'm sure that downloading each wallet and having to run each wallet is enough work and overhead to deter most users, so the lite wallet option would be great.

anything big coming through the pipeline soon?

Hi doctorlw1, our bigger short term projects currently are:
The Reg D 506 (c) funding. Alan is dedicating all of his available time to.
Still working on additional modules for DNotes Pay. Once the custom cart integration is complete, the core modules and examples will be mostly complete, after that it will be specific integrations into eCommerce platforms and carts.
The trading bot mentioned in the DNotes Pay Software video (stocks.exchange is actively working on their API, once they are done we can release it demo DNotes Pay Software with a real product).
Cold staking, release TBD, along with some considerations for other blockchain upgrades for the next fork.
Four Pillars audio book narrated by Tim, dual purpose as a video/marketing tool.

Some of the smaller projects include minor upgrades and fixes to electrum wallet, explorer, and DNotesVault back end upgrades.

We probably need to consider having a place where sellers and service providers using DNotes Pay can be listed as well. Open to any suggestions.

Our plates are overfull, be sure to help us engage the community and conversation!

Wondering what DNotes is all about? Here’s the basics:

What is DNotes?
•   DNotes is a digital currency with a purpose: to serve as a real currency that people can use in their daily lives - unlike other digital currencies that focus on solving niche problems, with no plan to become a real, usable currency.
•   The DNotes goal is simple: achieve mass adoption and become the world’s first accessible, inclusive, and financially empowering digital currency that benefits everyone around the globe.

What are DNotes’ Benefits as a Currency?
•   DNotes is managed as a business – but not controlled as one.
•   DNotes success is driven by a profit-generating company, DNotes Global, created to promote mass adoption, protect the currency, and ensure sustainable growth.
•   DNotes’ unique CRISP savings program rewards DNotes owners with 0.5% interest, every month
•   DNotes offers staking rewards for stakeholders – at 2% a year.
•   DNotes provides blockchain invoicing features to simplify merchant acceptance and adoption of the digital currency.

What Benefits Does DNotes Global Provide?
DNotes Global protects DNotes and its stakeholders, promotes mass adoption, and creates value and utility for the digital currency, including a fully integrated ecosystem.
The company provides a unique cross-ownership model, with DNotes owning 25% of DNotes Global (pre-dilution), while the for-profit business maintains a stake in the digital currency.
DNotes Global generates profit, creating intrinsic value for the DNotes currency to help create a “floor” for the digital currency’s value.
DNotes Global has plans to build a long-term competitive advantage by offering services that utilize DNotes. That strategy will also help to facilitate awareness and adoption of the DNotes currency.
Long term competitive advantage DNotes Global will provide in offering services that utilize DNotes.

What’s Next?
Fully compliant Reg D 506 (c) crowdfunding followed by a Reg A+ Mini-IPO.
DNotes Payment Solution Integration into Existing eCommerce Platforms
Cold Staking Implementation & More

DNotes 2.0 Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: What is new with DNotes 2.0?

A: DNotes 2.0 is a major improvement on the original DNotes blockchain. The new blockchain will allow DNotes and its partner company DNotes Global to achieve its objective to connect DNotes to the modern world of finance and commerce. The new blockchain is faster, more secure, and consumes only a fraction of the electricity. It also allows custom invoices to be created and attached to transactions, and changes the economic incentives of the network to one that encourages savings with the switch to the Proof-Of-Stake algorithm, and paying 0.5% interest on balances that haven’t moved from a wallet address in a 30 day period (~6% per annum).

Automated Invoicing (First Phase) - Integrated blockchain invoice number

There will be a soft deadline where DNotes mined after that block will not be redeemable for 2.0 coins:
4/16/2018
Block# 2180897
133,574,552 Will be the total swappable amount of DNotes we create
+20,000,000 Allocated to DNotes Global, Inc for Development & Growth Fund
153,574,552 Total DNotes 2.0 Created

The next update (TBD) will include:
Deferred Staking

Q: How do I swap my coins? (after April 16th)

A: The DNotes coin swap process will now be done through a private fork of the legacy DNotes blockchain. We have created this fork to ensure that legacy DNotes holders are still able to swap their legacy DNotes for DNotes 2.0 long after the deadline, in the event they missed the swap. This also ensures we will not be accepting newly purchased or mined DNotes, protecting our users and network.

In order to swap your coins, you will need the following DNotes v1.3 wallet, which you can download here:
http://dnotescoin.com/DNotes/dnotes-qt1-3.zip
You will need to copy your wallet.dat or wallet backup file to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\DNotes1-3 directory, open the wallet application and allow it to update.
Next, you will need an address to send your legacy DNotes in to for the coin swap, you can generate a legacy address with the following instructions:
Create a DNotesVault.com account if you don’t already have one.
Login to your DNotesVault.com account, and click the HISTORIC tab at the top.
Click Create Address, and send your DNotes to the address you just created.

Coin swaps will be processed once a month until further notice.

Q: What is the cutoff date for mined DNotes that can be swapped to the new DNotes blockchain?

A: We have set April 16th 2018 as the soft deadline. No DNotes mined after this date will be eligible to be swapped to DNotes running on the new blockchain. We will continue swap DNotes after that date, however the process will not be as easy and will take more time. Any DNotes 1.x purchased on exchanges after the 16th will not be eligible for the swap.

Q: Will DNotes 2.0 be listed on new exchanges?

We are currently listed on:
https://mercatox.com/exchange/NOTE/BTC
https://stocks.exchange/trade/NOTE/BTC
https://www.nlexch.com/markets/notebtc
https://bitebtc.com/trade/note_btc

Beta or Future Exchanges we are working with:
https://blockbid.io/

Q: Are the new DNotes 2.0 coins worth the same as the old coins?

A: Yes, they are worth exactly the same. However we can not predict what price movements will occur at exchanges once DNotes is relisted using the new coins.

Q: I have Mac or Specific Linux OS, will there be wallets for these?

A: Yes!
We currently have Windows / Mac / Linux Mint / Ubuntu Desktop wallets at DNotesCoin.com. If you need something else, please let us know.

Q: Where is the block explorer?

A: https://chainz.cryptoid.info/note/

Staking

Q: What is Staking?

A: Staking your coins helps to support the DNotes network, and the network currently pays out roughly 5 DNotes every minute to one address on the network based on a probability that centers on how many coins the user is staking with as a percentage of the total number of coins being staked on the network. The DNotes network pays out ~2% of the total number of coins per annum. If 100% of DNotes were being used to stake on the network, then by probability each user could expect 2% growth in the number of coins they have. If only 50% of coins are used to stake, then those users could expect approximately 4% growth that year.

Q: Can I stake my coins on the DNotesVault?

A: You cannot currently stake your coins that are on the DNotesVault, you will need to withdraw your DNotes 2.0 to a local wallet and stake your coins from your local wallet. We will in a future release incorporate cold staking, which will allow you stake your coins while they are safely tucked away inside the DNotesVault. However, we do not have an ETA, it will be one of our highest priorities for next upgrades.

Q: How do I stake?

Disclaimer: It is recommended that you properly secure your computer and wallet, as well as make proper backups, before attempting to run your own staking wallet. Failure to properly secure your DNotes may result in loss or theft. If you are not familiar with the process, please start off small and familiarize yourself with the process.

You will need to download the DNotes QT wallet here: http://dnotescoin.com/#Download

Install the wallet (and we recommend creating a backup, after encrypting your wallet)
Go to settings, and then ‘encrypt wallet’. Enter your password twice (and do NOT forget it, or you will not be able to access the wallet and we can not help you).
Go to settings, and then ‘unlock wallet’, enter your password, and select “for staking only”. This will prevent any transfers from being made from your wallet without the password while you stake your coins.
Soon the arrow at the bottom will turn green. This means that your coins are now staking.

Video: https://youtu.be/bR66LWPRzAU

Q: How do I get the most out of my staking efforts?

A: There is no trick to staking efficiently. The factors involved are your coin weight versus the network coin weight and coin weight is the number of coins currently staking. The age does not matter, nor does how you divide or move your coins around.

Q: How much can I earn staking?

A: That depends on how many coins you are staking and how many coins are being staked on the network. The blockchain distributes Current Total Coins / 525,600 * 0.02 every block, or every 60 seconds. You may calculate how often you are chosen to receive the block reward by dividing your network weight verse your weight. If network weight is 100, and your weight is 5, then you would be chosen for block reward 5 blocks out of every 100.

CRISP

Q: Can I get CRISP reward AND stake at the same time?

A: Yes, the system is designed to allow you to receive CRISP on a wallet you are staking

Q: What is the CRISP reward structure?

A: CRISP periods are every 43,200 blocks (30 days). Payments start 10,080 blocks (1 week) from the end of the CRISP period.

Q: What do I need to do to earn CRISP?

A: Keep your coins in the same address for the full CRISP period 30 days, set every 43,200 blocks.

Q: When will I receive CRISP payments?

A: The next payouts are as follows:

May 1 - Ends first CRISP period.
May 8 - Payout starts. (Virtually no one will receive this payout)
June 2 - Ends second CRISP period
June 10 - Payout starts

Roughly.

Q: Do I get CRISP payments at the DNotesVault?

A: Yes! You get CRISP inside the DNotesVault, or at any address you control, such as a Desktop wallet. Though I won't suspect you will be able to get CRISP rewards from the exchanges or other online providers.

Q: Where do the CRISP coins come from?

A: The blockchain, these are newly created coins and have now become part of the new coin distribution, just like the staking reward.

Q: How do I earn the interest reward?

A: Our Cryptocurrency Investment Savings Plan (CRISP) payouts occur approximately once per month. All coins that haven’t moved address during that month period will accrue a 0.5% interest, which compounds to roughly 6.17% per annum. If you move your coins during that time, those coins will not receive the interest for that month.

This is very exciting news. DNotes team is amazing, quickly grasping why we are going this direction. thank you for your amazing work.

Greatly appreciated Sun Sky! DNotes is a big bold idea with massive and far reaching implications. We are dedicated to driving DNotes to become an inclusive digital currency for the benefit of everyone in global commerce. That said, it can be difficult to quickly and effectively communicate how the strategy and all of the components tie together to meet that goal. So it's great to hear that the direction is making sense.

UBS: Bitcoin Not Yet Stable Enough to Be Mainstream Money

https://dcebrief.com/ubs-bitcoin-not-yet-stable-enough-to-be-mainstream-money/

I agree on that. As long volatility is so high Bitcoin is in my opinion more speculative investment that serious way of payment. There are many who are trading it on a daily basis and many who are holding it, in hope for its value to rise. But there are few who are actually using it as a mean of payment.

I know that DNotes has plan to build an intrinsic value, a coin which would in the future had pretty stable value. That would be great advantage to mainstream users. I know that there are still many obstacles until then, but I have seen how the team is working and I'm sure that in the future that goal can be reached! Wink

Appreciate it! That intrinsic value and the cross ownership model are some of the core components of DNotes. How could a currency reach mass adoption without a dedicated effort to push its growth and value. There are many models, and many others are left to chance, but I believe DNotes has the most viable model for success in reaching mass adoption over the long term.

I want to know if you can dig a mine with this coin, with what machine, with what algorithm,
And when will it be listed on the exchanges? And what exchanges is the project intended to be listed?

DNotes is now a POS coin, you "mine" in the wallet, no external equipment required. All your other questions can be answered in the OP of this forum or, at DNotes Website: https://dnotescoin.com/

Welcome zhanghengfell to the DNotes forum. That is correct we have recently upgraded our blockchain to POS, so there will no longer mining or mining pools.

Above are our current exchanges and we have spent a good deal of effort and time working with exchanges, as we grow in volume more and more exchanges will want to list DNotes.

I have found some minor glitch in the DNotes dashboard (it only appears when I open Dashboard). You can see it in the image below, so you can look into it. I'm using Chrome browser and resolution 2560 × 1440.

Thanks Amadeus82, we will at some point in the near future do a complete overhaul on the DNotesVault site. Still a few back end changes to make first.

All, had to recreate the DNotesCoin.com website from scratch. It is mostly the same, just rebuilt on a new platform. It would be helpful if anyone who has a few spare moments to go over it, check for issues, and make a suggestions you may have. I will have one of our graphics guys give it a good once over for improvements, so now would be a great time to let me know what you like and don't like.

In the text "Behind the Scenes", the word "scenes" shows up in white, I assume it may have been a link or, should be light blue to fit the theme? Also, in the "Choose your wallet" section, second line of icons, third position, is blank, no icon. I don't see anything else obvious right now but, I'll let you know if I do..

Thanks! I agree, the blue would be more fitting.

We've added email based 2FA for anyone who does not have Google 2FA enabled on their account at the DNotesVault. It is an extra step in logging into your account if you didn't have 2FA enabled already, but not a big burden and well justified for the additional security and protection of your account.

We are working on it. Troubleshooting why it's not picking up some of the minting transactions. It should, and it is all being recorded in the database. However,  in my discussions today, we discussed Electrum may not be the best option for watching all of your staking wallets, there are some bigger bugs and issues related to staking. Including the Electrum wallet is limited to 1,000 transactions. With 1 minute blocks and multiple addresses, that can add up pretty quickly. So we are recommending not using Electrum for staking wallets until we can spend a good deal of time to do a major upgrade on it TBD.

These are short term issues, and the Electrum wallet was really created as an easy way to manage smaller amounts of funds and quick transactions. For now you will have to use another option for watching and tracking your staking wallets.

Exporting from the QT wallet is the best option, even if you have to sort and remove the orphan minting blocks. In excel that is just a matter of sorting or filtering. But the block explorer or history API call in Abe are good options as well, you will have to do it by address, but you won't have to remove the orphans.

Thanks for the heads up. So, just curious, is the 1,000 transactions limited to the life of the wallet? And yes, I'm sure all my addresses have logged more than that many transactions by now!

I'm using the QT wallet for now. I have noticed that while the wallet will still work, the blockchain does corrupt just as easily as any other blockchain. I've had some interesting experiences with total balance inaccuracies that were corrected upon a fresh download of the blockchain. I do like the fact that even if the chain is corrupted, the wallet will still function. Nothing like having to wait for the whole thing to download again just to make a withdrawal that you thought would only take a minute Wink

The QT exports work fine, and I've figured out how to get rid of the orphans (you sort by "confirmation" and delete all the "false" rows and you're good to go). A wallet repair feature I've seen in other QT wallets is a command or button that will clear all the orphans from the wallet itself. I'd love to see that feature added to DNotes QT, but since it's a slight enhancement without which life goes on just fine I can see that being closer to the bottom of the priority list.

I like the idea of going the API route for watching multiple addresses, and when I decide to delve into that further I will definitely check out the Abe API calls you shared.

1,000 inputs for electrum wallets for now, 10,000 total history it will show. But I'm sure we will be able to raise that with a few upgrades in the future. It does make a really nice mobile or lite-weight wallet. So I suspect even for normal pay use, we will have to raise it or provide an alternative down the road. I just came to realize that was a limitation in Electrum.

The only way the blockchain gets corrupted is if it gets corrupted locally on your machine when say there is something like hard drive issues, hard shut downs, that sort of thing. If it was corrupted, I would think the wallet stops working or gets stuck on a specific block as it reads the blockchain. The greater blockchain on the network itself would reject any false/corrupted data. You will have the occasional glitch, but those are easily solved, usually by restarting the wallet. I am beginning to suspect the issues you are having, if they are with the QT wallet, are more procedural.

Are you using multiple wallet files? And when you swap wallet files are you also swapping the data files with it? Or doing a rescan when you swap wallet files to pick up your transactions that belong to that wallet?

For example, let's say you have AWALLET and BWALLET. You update AWALLET, up to block 100. Then you swap just wallet.dat to BWALLET and open up the QT wallet. Any transactions that occurred for BWALLET up to block 100 will not show in the QT wallet. This is not obvious behavior, unless you understand that the QT wallet is reading each block as it downloads, and only storing for quick reference the data related to the wallet that is active while downloading.

You can manage this by making backups of the entire data directory for the that wallet. Or by downloading the blockchain from scratch when you swap wallet files. Or by doing a rescan. But the easiest way is to backup the entire data directory with the wallet.

Also, there is a repair wallet function that can be run from the console menu. I suspect what you want is rescan, which to run rescan for desktop you would do dnotes-qt.exe -rescan from the command prompt in the directory where the qt wallet program is located. That will sync the local blockchain and the current wallet to show your transactions.

From my standpoint, these are all the complications that most users shouldn't have to worry about, some will by choice of course. Not to mention they come with significant risk. Cold staking combined with the DNotesVault, along with some upgrades to the DNotesVault, will make this process super easy for the user to participate in supporting the network and earn staking reward without requiring a deep understanding of the technology just to use it and as close to 100% safe as possible. All we need is time and money, hah.

Edit: Note that Electrum will still show the correct balances even over limits. We are just having a problem with it showing and calculating some staking transactions right now.

I meant the block chain on my computer. I haven't moved DNotes wallets around much until very recently. However, the new Windows computers (home edition) tend to randomly restart for updates if it thinks you're not using it. Since I would have the wallet open, then it would abruptly shut down the wallet and I know from experience that can corrupt the local copy of the block chain. With other wallets, the wallet plain won't run. With DNotes, it seems to run the wallet, but then I find weird glitches in the address totals.

This is one of those times when I wish I had a bit more programming knowledge. I can only observe from the outside and speculate on the reasons.

I honestly had no idea there was this much nuance to qt wallets. Now I see why you've worked so hard to develop end user options that do not require that kind of maintenance. It's nice that even those options will allow the end user to benefit from CRISP payments.

You are absolutely correct, there is a lot of nuance and we will do our best to remove a lot of that complexity. Make it as inclusive as possible for everyone to participate without having to worry about risking their coins.
