Last year, Dutch anti-piracy group BREIN announced a broad crackdown on torrent pirates, which resulted in the first settlement this week. The person in question paid 4,800 euros for sharing 12 TV-show episodes. According to BREIN, hundreds of thousands of pirates are now at risk of receiving similar treatment.
Hundreds of thousands of Dutch people facing similar treatment, that's just in Holland, VTR is gonna be HUGE.

What does vTorrent offer that is better than BitTorrent?
Can one just stream from vTorrent or would one have to download the whole file?
I have a modest stack of VTR and will likely be getting more before the forks.
To be honest, it's a bit of a mystery. If you read the OP, it says: Our goal is to make vTorrent the choice for people who uses bittorrent protocol

We are not aiming to be 'the next Bitcoin', but we are aiming to be limewire or kazaa with blockchain at its core. vTorrent client, with a payment mechanism to encourage people to seed (the single biggest issue with BitTorrent). Streaming is a great idea. Would love to see that. In other news, as ik_do requested, inbuilt data folder selection is already implemented and new beta client will be giving out to our core beta tester soon.  Regards, vTorrent Might want to change the "At least 20GB" to "At least 1GB" or something. Edit: Synching is on 21%. 20GB might be ok, if its also being used for torrent files? Oh I didn't know they'd be stored in that directory. Wouldn't it be better to create a second prompt for saving torrents? Edit: Wait do you mean .torrent files? or the actual torrents? I imagine it's for all your VTR data, .torrent files and the torrent data files. |

Nice work dev, much appreciated feature. Can't tell you how annoying it is with projects around here that make you screw around with command lines instead of asking where you actually want the blockchain to be stored!

Buy orders have jumped from ~5-6 BTC up to 11.6 BTC today
I just noticed the 5,6 BTC buy at 600 sat, I also noticed the sells around 2200 sat, looks like someone is trying to prop up the market to get people to buy from their sell wall. I think it's the other way around, some guy trying to push other people's wall down, after a while it removed, yesterday I have seen it a few times, pushing down walls from like 24xx satoshi to 22xx then remove then buy other people's stack, then repeat again Sounds like a smart trader. Leave him in peace to steal coins from noobs. I have to be honest and say I sold some so I could buy chicken wings today. Never thought I'd be selling shares in a decentralized BitTorrent concept project so I could buy chicken wings, but there you go. You made the marketcap drop 50K USD for a bucket of chicken Hope that was some tasty chicken. |
