141  Economy / Speculation / Re: How much Bitcoin price Expected end of this year on: January 28, 2019, 05:53:43 PM
It seems majority of the community have very high hopes for bitcoin, I predict bitcoin to at a point reach and eclipse the prices listed, but I can not predict the time frame which that would happen.
For 2018 the price could hover between $5000 and $10000 for most of the year, should the value bounce back.
142  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: More than USD 1.5 bln has been stolen from exchanges. Here’s a recap on: January 28, 2019, 05:49:45 PM
This is a hackneyed analysis and has been discussed extensively on the forum.
The responsibility and security of your assets rests on the holder, and if not involved in trades withdraw your asset and keep in a wallet which you alone have access to.
Only use trusted exchanges, with a good track record.
143  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are Your Coins Safe on: January 28, 2019, 04:41:15 PM
My coins are safe until I don't use bad methods to store my personal data and private keys and this is always on my hand

This is a very good same precaution, but would only be valid of you coins are stored in your wallet, preferably a hard ware wallet. Your assets can be stolen if stored in exchange wallets or if you allow unauthorized extensions to your device.

In general proof of work algorithm puts emphaisis on security at the expense of scalability, it's the reverse on proof of stake algorithm.
144  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: January 27, 2019, 02:55:21 PM
It's good to see a healthy amount of smerits in circulation, sources being much more active in the forum.
It's safe to say we are over the newbie demotion uproar has died down and the system is functioning accurately now. Also activity in the forum is increasing gradually after a drop during the market crash last November.
145  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think Bitcoin matured as a currency? on: January 27, 2019, 02:45:42 PM
In the 3rd & 4th quater of 2018 up to Jan 2019, we have experienced a correction from that ATH and we are seeing much less volatility in the price. <The price hovering between $3500 and $4000>

Would you say that Bitcoin has shed it's speculator skin and emerged as a true currency, after this correction? I think with most of  the speculators left the Bitcoin scene in the last year or so and Bitcoin has truly transformed into a community of people who are more interested in the technology and using the technology as a currency. <This explains the stable price>  Huh
There is still lots of speculations about the price, and i would say a lot of hodlers are still anticipating movements in the price, this is no suprise when you consider that most bought at a much higher price than it is at now, and would naturally expect profit from their investments.
The current price stability may be as a result of some other price parameter.
146  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin with capital "B" and bitcoins with lowercase "b" on: January 27, 2019, 02:40:39 PM
People generally refer to the network and protocol as the blockchain technology and the currency as bitcoins, varying rhe capitalization of the first letter.
The idea of, Bitcoin for the protocol, and bitcoin for the currency would not catch up easily, but is worth sharing.
147  Economy / Economics / Re: How can Bitcoin reduce global economic inequality? on: January 25, 2019, 05:38:19 PM
Bitcoin does offer a whole new perspective and there are lots of possibilities.
The issue of tax is one which is constant in both sectors, governments can impose taxes on bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies, this makes it less decentralized.

But in bitcoin, very few hands holds larger amount of the total supply than the entire majority. Could this not also present a potential inequality?
148  Economy / Economics / Re: EU fines Mastercard more than half a billion euros on: January 25, 2019, 05:32:31 PM
If fiat money always returns to its intrinsic value of zero, as some say, bitcoin and gold could be the only thing's left if hyperinflation rears its ugly head.

It's unlikely that fiat currencies drop to zero value, except the government rescinds it's backing and it no longer is a legal tender, the chances of this happening globally is very slim.
Fiat does not have to die for bitcoin to rise.
149  Other / Meta / Re: How to check potential activity of bitcointalk account? on: January 25, 2019, 03:08:43 PM
I can not give an accurate feedback. But every 14 days 14 activities are available for each forum account. If the member makes 14 posts within the time.
Activities can only follow post count within the 14 activity window. So no matter how fast a user posts activity is limited.

Posts also has to be made within the period to claim the activity count.
For example, if you have made 37 posts and your activity is stuck at 28, you would have to post in the next window to activate the activity, and then activity count would be 38.
150  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: A better way to invest in cryptocurrency. on: January 24, 2019, 10:15:30 AM
Quitting your job to go into trading, cryptocurrencies or forex is an asinine move and is not advisable anyone does that.
Trading is not something you jump into, rather you start from the bottom and grow. At this point you are not earning enough to sustain yourself. Only after getting a strong foothold and growing your profits can you take it as your sole source of income.
151  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is KYC necessary for crypto-to-crypto exchanges? on: January 24, 2019, 10:08:58 AM
Centralized exchanges are obligated to comply with regulations from SEC and have to conform with the legal status of cryptocurrency in rge country of origin of each trader.
KYC is needed for large withdrawals, although not all centralized exchanges requires personal data.
152  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do you think "crappy ICO's" chased a lot of people away from this forum? on: January 24, 2019, 09:26:31 AM
The forum interface is diverse. Different boards for different topics in ICOs, bitcoin, marketing, trading and many more including local boards.
Any user has the option of ignoring a board, a section or a user. You can control what you don't see, also controlling what you do see.
153  Other / Meta / Re: Administration on: January 24, 2019, 09:22:10 AM
it’s not forbidden to have a couple of accounts, I always had one, he was banned and only then created a new one and didn’t break with a new account

You do not need to break a rule in the new account. Opening another account after getting banned is an offense, it's ban evasion as explained above. Once a forum member is banned, you (the user) is not allowed to post on the forum anymore on any account, except an appeal thread.
154  Economy / Economics / Re: Blockchain study finds 0.00% success rate in 43 cases on: January 23, 2019, 07:43:46 PM
Other that that, I agree that Bitcoin is the epitome of the blockchain, while cryptocurrencies in general are likely the best use cases that this technology could potentially have. That's why they are evolving while the blockchain doesn't (outside cryptocurrencies)

The good thing is cryptocurrencies can be easily modified to suit any demand or utility, hence it can technically be applied to different use cases. I do not see any need ro alienate cryptocurrency from blockchain.
155  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Soulja Boy says BTC is done on: January 22, 2019, 07:05:46 PM
It was stated as his opinion, everyone is entitled to one of those, and they can equally tailor their strategy or exit to suit their speculations ans assumptions.

There is also no analysis to support his claim, except saying bitcoin has gone mainstream and has no new investors to pump the price, this which I consider as a wrong reflection of the market.
156  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The best airdrop ever ! on: January 22, 2019, 06:56:46 PM
Still, if they had KYC enforced properly, they may be able to recover some more of the money, even though they'll need good lawyers...

If the funds had already been withdrawn from the exchange, it would be near impossible to get it back, even after taking legal actions.
And customer privacy has to be considered when using KYC documents, as they are not scammers or thieves.
157  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ranking up is Possible! on: January 22, 2019, 02:59:05 PM
A lot of newbies and low ranks are whining about not able to rank up, not earning any merits.

The whining comes mostly from members who are not concerned with climbing up the ladder but just desire the minimum with which to wear a signature and earn some tokens, and earning one merit is not a difficult task, ranking higher up is and requires more dedication and more effort, so there is little whining.
158  Economy / Economics / Re: More Countries Continue To Show Support For Blockchain Technology on: January 20, 2019, 06:25:17 PM
As always, time (and hard work) will make the proper and honest startup develop into nice businesses. And those should indeed help reduce fraud by a great deal.

Time is a very significant factor. Blockchain technology is still a new technology, it has been around since before bitcoin, but it needs time to mature and fill out it's space.
When the current crop of start-ups become established industries it would open wider doors for more entries.
159  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think about the future of cryptocurrencies.... on: January 20, 2019, 06:02:49 PM
I am very optimistic about the future of cryptocurrencies and also cryptocurrency being the defining how we transact in the future.
It's cliche, but I highlight the blockchain as the true product and it can be easily applied into different sectors.
and my biggest regret is why I didn't sell it at high prices in  2017, could that opportunity come back.....

It's very possible that we see another all time high in the future, within the next three to four years, long-term hodling is the best strategy now.
160  Economy / Speculation / Re: On stagnating prices on: January 20, 2019, 05:53:08 PM
Bitcoin market is regularly littered with little spurts in the value which changes rapidly and sometimes the jumps or drops could be very significant.
On stagnating prices, volatility has been relatively reduced after the burst of the last bubble, early last year and while it has been reducing gradually, price spurts has not been very frequent.
