181  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is a System for Turning Something into Nothing [VIDEO] on: January 12, 2019, 05:09:08 PM
The video leans towards the idea that cause bitcoins are not recognized legal tenders then they are valueless, but as a commodity asset bitcoin has acquired a speculative value, this is not yet the ultimate bitcoin goal, but calling it 'nothing' when it has a value which can be exchanged for it is far from the current reality.
182  Other / Meta / Re: [Infographic] Leaving Feedback vs Custom Trust List on: January 12, 2019, 08:33:12 AM
Your feedback is to help noobs judge a persons trustworthiness.
Your trustlist is to add who else, in your opinion, does a good job of helping noobs judge a persons trustworthiness via their feedback, or who does not with a tilde (~)..

Trust feedback was not designed specifically to help noobs or beginners but the entire community. It makes one aware the trust worthiness or otherwise of a forum member. Not everyone can check up on previous trading activities of other members, so a trust rating with references is invaluable to all.

Please note that my registration date on the forum is October 20, 2017, 10:56:52 AM
and it was just my 7th forum post (November 09, 2017, 11:42:28), when I was still a novice and just learned the rules.

By default, everyone understands that stealing works of others especially when it's for financial gain is unethical and not accepted in any productive forum or organization.
The duration of the incidence does not factor in, neither does the rank, only the motive could be considered.

I agree that the system should make it compulsory for new members during registration, although if one fails to get acquainted with the guidelines in a new space, then they probably have already received an orientation and have a goal being on the forum.
184  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Analysis: Are We Going Up Or Down? on: January 11, 2019, 08:15:27 PM
and an opportunity for experienced people to make a profit by buying in time. As I saw we are in time to buy

Buying in time is not the only avenue to profit. If through technical or fundamental analysis, one can predict a future price drop then they could short the currency, by selling and buying back at a lower price.
The price has been up and down lately, it now appears to be on the rise as it just surpassed the $3700 mark. The next couple of days would be useful in drawing up an analysis
185  Economy / Speculation / Re: IS IT TIME TO BUY MORE BITCOIN? on: January 11, 2019, 08:10:03 PM
The question has been asked multiple times, but there is no perfect time to invest. If one is truly interested, rather than seeking suggestions in here, take time out to read and understand the dynamics of Bitcoin.
Without knowledge on the product, it doesn't matter when you invest, you are likely to lose out.
186  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: how real for crypto currency? on: January 09, 2019, 05:08:55 PM
in general bitcoin is a virtual currency because bitcoin itself is a crypto currency, in contrast to fiat which is a real currency in physical form. Anything that has a digital nature will be called virtual.

Fiat can actually be represented in it's virtual form, and as the world gradually shifts towards digitalization, and now we can make payments, large and small without physical transactions, currency notes and coins would soon be a thing of the past.
Bitcoin is decentralized and not under any regulation or law, this makes it a cryptocurrency. It is not represented by any institution or financial entity.
187  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What determines the price of an active coin on the trading floor? on: January 09, 2019, 03:10:01 PM
It is purely Supply and Demand for most exchanges. On one side you have the Sell orders of people wanting to sell at a predetermined price and on the other end you have Buy orders of people who want to buy at a predetermined price.

Trading volume also plays a vital role in the market price. A coin with very little volume and trades would be easily affected by a single trade.
A large holder could manipulate the market price by setting up an order, and that would be aggregated as the value

Fake volumes is one of the reasons DEXes is a good option for purchasing. It may not be very efficient for active trading.
188  Other / Meta / Re: Howeycoins thread attracts account farmers on: January 09, 2019, 03:05:47 PM
but they probably have a hidden marketplace of thread bumping services somewhere where they get paid for doing such kind of things because I can't believe that a person would waste any of his time doing something which earns him nothing at all.

Most likely so, I have once been approached on telegram to join some service on bitcointalk, I didn't follow through with the discussion, so I can not ascertain that it was a 'paid to bump service's.
There are so many of such account in the forum, we can only do our part by reporting them when found.
189  Economy / Economics / Re: Top 10 Reasons Why Bitcoin Is Falling Down on: January 08, 2019, 08:35:24 PM
Most of it stems from the fact that some weigh the market value over the product value. The market price fluctuates regularly, and this creates unsettlement among those most concerned about that factor without careful consideration into the underlying potential behind the product.

190  Other / Meta / Re: Why my topic was removed? on: January 08, 2019, 08:23:17 PM
The topic was either spam, low quality or irrelevant.
When starting a thread, you should have a discussion you want to pursue. Even when asking a question or an inquiry, you can include a few personal lines to buttress your point and provide a broader topic for discussion.

Threads get thrashed regularly, similarly with posts which gets deleted. Just work in your posts and improve its quality.
191  Other / Meta / Re: [List] Ban Evasion on: January 08, 2019, 03:32:27 PM
It would be efficient if moderators can ban an altaccount used to appeal once it has been proven that they committed the offence for which they are banned, there is no need for further discussion when the plagiarism, which is the top reason members get banned, is proved.

Rather than creating a list, why not report posts from such accounts outside the appeal thread. It's easy and more efficient.
192  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is Decentralisation or Dapps really secure then ever??? on: January 07, 2019, 08:18:47 PM
that ''these upcoming currencies and exchanges are secure then ever''. What does it mean? how actually do these projects work without any central command or supervision/server.

This is a bitcoin discussion board and as such discussions should border on bitcoin related content.
There is not upcoming exchange or wallet which is directly borne from bitcoin, and there is no assurance to its safety or security.
The bitcoin network uses proof of work algorithm to provide secure transactions.
193  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who Are Selling off Their Crypto on: January 07, 2019, 04:20:34 PM
Enthusiast use different strategies. And have different targets when investing initially, and if one has hit his/her target they could pull out profit.
It's not a good time to short considering the current price, so I doubt anyone is selling to buy lower at this point.
Then there are the weak hands who panic sell. These are all just different dynamics of the market
194  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Search for "Bitcoin Core developers" on Google, the results are funny on: January 06, 2019, 09:02:24 PM
Bitcoin development is so decentralized that Google's algorithms can't figure out who they are. Wink

Google does not figure out, it rather adds up popular searches by people and use it to provide suggestions when that particular search word is used by someone.

I am relatively new so I do not see the irony in most of the names, Satoshi of course is an example everyone can relate with.
195  Economy / Speculation / Re: What's up with bitcoin ? on: January 06, 2019, 08:52:36 PM
Talking about fluctuations, last time I check the price is above $4K now. And as far as I can remember, we have seen fluctuations above $1K in 2017 (correct me if I'm wrong).

That's dependent on the space of time you are considering, the price was very volatile in 2017, rising quickly in the last quarter of the year and reaching a new all time high.
2018 was a relatively stable year, for a normally volatile market.

OP, the cryptocurrency market is defined by demand and supply and is likely to fluctuate in value.
196  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ETF and Bakkt will have effect, but BTC halving is the main deal. on: January 06, 2019, 08:33:37 PM
Looking at the past history and chart of the crypto market, there have only been two halving in history (2012 and 2016) and both resulted in a powerful bullish trend which took coins to a new all time high. The next Bitcoin halving is scheduled for mid 2020, and it will have a powerful bullish trend on the crypto market.

2016 did not experience and all time high, not until 2017 did the market surpass the value it reached in 2013, and moved higher to set a new all time high.
Bitcoin needs more adoption and more circulation, this could be brought by ETF and bakkt. It may not have an instant effect on the price, but would be a catalyst for future growth.
197  Other / Meta / Re: Is account recovery feasible? on: January 06, 2019, 03:51:15 PM
How to prove ?

Your post history can be used to note tour previous contribution, and whether or not you are a notable member who has been committed yo the growth of the tbe forum

And whether or not you are on a signature determines the motivation behind plagiarism. Signature is not a problem, but when your work is to the detriment of the forum, then it is a punishable offense. However, there is a very low tolerance towards plagiarism
198  Other / Meta / Re: Merit source application on: January 06, 2019, 03:24:34 PM
Common courtesy is to delete your previous bumps, then your thread doesn't look messy. If I had to guess,

It's not only courtesy, it's also in the forums' list of unofficial rules and does make a thread look more organized
21. Old bumps should be deleted. [2]

Theymos sometimes can be quick in appointing merit sources, but if for some reason you are not chosen, then you improve your meriting habits and get more active to become a more established member on the forum.
199  Economy / Speculation / Re: Crypto Market Records Decent Gains But Bitcoin Has to Rise Above $4,500 on: January 06, 2019, 03:17:40 PM
Over the years the market has developed  a propensity to hold off well when dropping, and bitcoin recorded higher sure levels with each year, this does not always reflect in the resistance levels.
And stability has also been on the increase

A shoot term rally could come, and breaking above $4500 could spark the rise, if the volume keeps increasing.
200  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Price: Analyst Willy Woo Says Bears Still Have the Upper Hand on: January 06, 2019, 03:12:04 PM
A pretty plausible analysis using verifiable fact and evidences. There has beeb lots of predictions leaning towards a bullish trend, but as it is there is still possibility of the value dropping further down.
Progress has been made, and also developments on the network, hopefully this reflects on the value in the near future.
