301  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Beware telegram malware, virus and phishing tools! on: November 19, 2018, 04:01:41 PM
The best option would be to avoid hitting any unauthorized link which you have not verified.
And you set your telegram account to 'confirm' before taking you to the browser tab. This would prevent you from mistakenly following the link while scrolling through
And endeavour to report any abuser you find to protect others
302  Economy / Speculation / Re: Are we destined for Doomsday? on: November 19, 2018, 04:26:51 AM
All you have is your opinion of where you want the market to go based on available information.
Switzerland approving exchange traded products is a plus you the market in my opinion and raises optimism for the SEC ruling on bitcoin ETF.

This is surely not the beginning of the end.
303  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SOLUTION TO KNOW IF SATOSHI NAKAMOTO IS REALLY DEAD.... on: November 18, 2018, 07:28:12 AM
1 st

Is not only about know if Satoshi is alive or not, bitcoin blockchain have a problem, if i die tomorrow my bitcoins will be lost forever, if i loose my PK the bitcoins will be lost forever...

No it won't be, as long as you back up your wallet and keep it in asecure place.
I have seen an instance where a man kept his backup phrase as an inheritance for his kids and they are only allowed to access it after his death.

You can employ a lawyer if you want to be very formal about it.

That's not a problem with Bitcoin.
304  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are you beginner?? on: November 18, 2018, 07:23:32 AM
Well this post highlighted in the OP is a sticky thread and should stand out to anyone genuinely interested in learning .ore about the forum.

I am also begunner, may you tell me please how to recieve the ,,MERIT,, i listened that now,you dont recieve junior meber without merit, and i need it very much, help me please

There is no definitive guide as far as I know. But it can be summarized as;
Make objectively quality content, that is equally relevant.
Don't post simply to gain attention, really have something to contribute.
Have basic knowledge of the forum
While grammar is not so important. You posts should be at least readable.
You could as well check if your local board is listed if you are not fluent in English.
Also, don't be too desperate to get merits.
305  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Another step in my cryptocurrency knowledge quest on: November 18, 2018, 07:15:53 AM
Am here to acquire and contribute knowledge

That is the exact objective of this forum when you are looking at it from a broader perspective. And it should be everyone's priority.
Those most concerned with ranks are mostly limited to bounty tasks.
But the actual gain in this forum is the immense wealth of knowledge and information available. And creating a community for all cryotocurrency enthusiasts.
306  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I am a crypto newcomer , where should I start? on: November 17, 2018, 09:57:58 AM
Newbie, read before posting this is a good place to start.

If you are new to this some I believe your primary objective should be learning, before you consider investing. You do not just dabble into an investment options.
Read, learn more about this forum.
307  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Beginners Guide for Ranking UP on: November 17, 2018, 09:49:01 AM
...

If only most newbies would take five minutes of their posting restriction time to read more and grow their knowledge of the forum, we would have a much improved community. With more relevant posts and less redundant topics.

5.Full Member :Activity: 120Merit: 10
6.Sr. Member :Activity: 240Merit: 250
7.Hero Member :Activity: 480Merit: 500
8.Legendary :Activity: 775Merit: 1000

To note, there's a typo there.
Full members require 100 merit and the required activity to rank up
And legendary rank could be reached anywhere between 775-1030 activity.

And using multiple colours does not in any way make the read better.
308  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Terms in the world of cryptocurrency. on: November 17, 2018, 09:40:08 AM
Well there are lots of terminologies and concepts associated with bitcoin. And this post does give a basic idea of some of them
This is available information that can be easily obtained and users should research to grow their knowledge on cryotocurrency and how it works.

11. Token is a digital asset. It is issued to attract investment in a cryptocurrency project or company.

It would be helpful to point out the difference between tokens and coins.
Tokens are cryotocurrencies which are built on another cryotocurrency which serves as the platform.
ERC-20 tokens for example are ethereum based tokens.
Coins have their own platform with their own algorithm
309  Other / Meta / Re: Are sMerits replentished periodically? on: November 17, 2018, 09:28:08 AM
There are a lot of users with unused smerits and the merit sources have their smerits replenished monthly. So I don't think there is a deficiency of smerits to give, the issue might be of course deficiency of quality posts.

Of course the standards of what deserves a merit has been lowered and now a fairly decent post can earn you merit(s).
That doesn't of course mean you should lower your quality.
We need more quality discussions around on the various boards.
310  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin or Alt Coins? on: November 15, 2018, 07:37:06 AM
Neither of them. You start your trading journey with practise. Demo trading, this gives you the tools to navigate in the actual market.
Experience can only be gained through live trading. But you should have the skills, strategies and basic knowledge about trading.
This would give you answers to questions such as this you asked in OP.
If you do not know which to go for then you need more practise.
311  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Here since 2013/2014? on: November 14, 2018, 03:05:45 PM
I'm red faced that I do not own any bitcoin's as yet.
Am new to the cryotocurrency sphere and trying to understand the concepts and ideas behind this projects. While experimenting with a few coins earned through ICOs.
312  Other / Meta / Re: Is there no fix for the triple question mark in trust on: November 14, 2018, 02:48:40 PM
I have never fully understood how they trust ratings actually work.
This account for example, Koshgel. The user has +6 rating and -3 which I believe means 6 positive ratings and 3 negative. S/hes trust rating is red (-2).

Does the trust rating of some DTs count more than others?
How are members in my trusted group rated?
313  Other / Meta / Re: Why is Meta growing fast but serious discussion and ivory tower dead? on: November 14, 2018, 02:38:39 PM
META board is concerned with all forum related information, including inquiry, appeal, suggestions, complaint, and as such it directly concerns every member.
And rightly recieves most attention, the fact that it allows signatures and merits are giving out lots here is also a bonus.

Serious discussion hasn't caught up like I guess it was built to. Maybe cause the daily drama is all too alluring. And both rank limited boards doesn't allow any form of banter.
314  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The Complete ICO guide 2018 on: November 13, 2018, 01:40:18 PM
Forget ICO, now ico is almost synonymous with scam, it has been eliminated, there will be a better model to replace it,such as STO.

This is a decentralized space and while that gives control to the individuals involved it also gives them freedom to develop projects without efficient auditing and regulations.
There is no surprise that it is being used for illegal and fraudulent activities.

The key word is almost. While majority of projects are scam projects. There are of course a handful of quality projects out there.
You just need the tools and skills to identify them.
315  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcointalk.org 2FA option/feature on: November 13, 2018, 01:33:59 PM
At this time your account protection and security is solely your responsibility. And you have to keep your personal information private.
Aside the massive hack of 2015 the forum is yet to suffer from major cyber attacks.
You can also stake you Bitcoin address to retrieve your account if you lose access.
Although, note that's it's a very protracted process.
316  Other / Meta / Re: my first merit <3 on: November 13, 2018, 01:29:55 PM
Your post NELUNS.IO - is scam? or legit project? NLS is the post that got you your first merit on the forum.
And it came from tmfp who is a renowned member on the forum.

I make registration in 13.11.2017 and now is one year for me on forum, and its possible? 1 year = 1 merit?
You actually registered on 16 November, 2017. And there is no relationship between year(s) on the forum and merit awarding.
317  Other / Meta / Re: Altcoin discussion on: November 13, 2018, 11:44:44 AM
I am of the sentiment that this forum being bitcointalk is primarily focused on Bitcoin.
And some members are overly critical of altcoins and ICOs. Hence most of the discussion on there do not appeal to the minute, and knowledgeable minority.
This has now left the board to the majority of spammers who use it to their own personal gain.

And at this current stage it would be very difficult to take back those sections.
Unless of course major decisions are taken.
318  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin 2013 and 2018 on: November 12, 2018, 05:24:24 PM
As I see it, Bitcoin has attained a level of maturity in terms of adoption and popularity
It is unlikely to bubble as it did late 2017/ early 2018.
Now we should expect more gradual organic and sustauneble growth.
319  Other / Meta / Re: I've been looking at the posters in some old threads on: November 12, 2018, 03:44:43 PM
A lot of toxic members joined the community around that period. Many of them started attacking established members to try and make a name for themselves. As a result, many respected users left. If this is a trend we want to change, we as a community cannot continue to look the other way while users call each other names and continue to behave like children.

TL;DR
As soon as members of this forum started getting away with behaving unprofessionally, the professionals left.

Maybe we could have this rule enforced to discourage the use of abusive and demeaning words

3. No trolling.

Majority of the rules on bitcointalk seem to have no penalty whatsoever, except that members are discouraged from violating them.

If we could have a temporary mute option for breaking some minor rules (the ban word seems a bit heavy, even a temporary one)
This could encourage more positive and healthy conversatios on the forum.
320  Other / Meta / Re: I've started 16 threads. on: November 12, 2018, 03:38:08 PM
I feel the problem may be the diversity on those boards.
Serious discussion and Ivory tower contains discussions that can range from, politics to family planning. And people hardly discuss cryptocurrency related topics, maybe cause there are sufficient boards for that.

If there were child boards made for more specific topics. People could interact the one they are most enthusiastic about.
