101  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Scam Mining Bots On Telegram !!! on: February 14, 2019, 05:52:50 PM
Be careful of inadvertently promoting scams throigh your posts and links.
This sort of scams raise red flags from the start, especially when you are approached first or anonymously added to any such telegram group. Greed is the top reason people fall prey to schemes such as these.
102  Other / Meta / Re: [Bug forum?] Name: Giratina, Merit: -1926 on: February 13, 2019, 10:27:33 AM
Obviously a bug, but an interesting account. I checked on BPIP, and the user has been awarded two merits, and with the activity it should not be a newbie account anymore, but it has a signature on. The forum staffs should be able to fix it.
103  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Decentralized and centralized Exchanges on: February 13, 2019, 09:25:34 AM
In simple terms, they both act as intermediaries.
In centralized exchanges, funds being transferred pass through the exchange. You send to them and they send to the receiver, this involves confirmation of transactions, which is sometimes done manually.

But in decentralized exchanges, there is a direct link frim sender to receiver. No confirmation of transactions  required, nor do you need to open an account. You can always log in with metamask.
104  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Numbers of bitcoin address is greater than all sands on earth on: February 13, 2019, 09:19:50 AM
It's clearly an exaggeration ti emphasize the point; that there are a lot of bitcoin wallet addresses in the world.
It is an irrelevant point and does not affect the market or the bitcoin network in any way.
Surely, a large percentage of the total addresses would be dormant or inactive.
105  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and Deep Web on: February 13, 2019, 09:16:25 AM
Is not much of a surprise that cryptocurrency would be used for clandestine or illegal deals, its cheap, can be easily transferred from one state to another, and to an extent the individuals involved can keep their identity safe.

A lot of people are ignorant of the dark web, and how it affects them.
People should refrain from publicizing such information as bank details, personal identity cards and so on. This can all be put together and your identity stolen.
106  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Now you can buy Bitcoin from the grocery store on: February 12, 2019, 10:41:52 PM
It would be good news if this is a popular brand in the US, in my country we do not have such machines, but bitcoin adoption increasing in one part of the world, is positive news for enthusiasts all over the world.

Their website would need to contain an introduction section for those interested in buying, so they know how to manage their acquired assets.
107  Other / Meta / Re: Limitations on total characters for forum account's name? on: February 12, 2019, 10:26:45 PM
Such a extremely long account name might lead to mis-reading, hard to remember.

I dare say it would be much easier to remember an account with a very long username which does not fit into the designated space, than to remember a regular username.
This is not much of a problem, from previous comments there is a limitation, and not many people stretch that to the limit
108  Other / Meta / Re: Theymos where is your merit sources? on: February 11, 2019, 11:17:22 AM
The number of smerits allocated to merit sources is not public, and I guess some could exhaust their entire pool but would not still make it to the list.
Although, merit sources should endeavour to send all available merits, especially as it was recently increased at the request of a source.

We would have to consider the data of a longer period to really determine the amount of neglect, theymos can then take action.
There is of course nothing to lose in being removed from the source list.
109  Economy / Speculation / Re: BITCOIN IN 2019 on: February 10, 2019, 06:26:13 PM
< >

Hodling is the best initiative for Bitcoin investors, and not just till a recovery but for real price explosion. It could take longer then a year or two for that to happen, or it could come sooner, the market is unpredictable.
Use the bearish trend to stock up more, and be in a better position when the bulls come.
110  Economy / Speculation / Re: I expect the market to be in green throughout this month. on: February 10, 2019, 06:22:53 PM
The you're suggesting we would have a bull run this month, the chart is relative to the previous price (a day, a week etc). The price has to be constantly heading upwards to keep it green throughout the month.
ETF had a lots of hype last year when most were hopeful if a positive outcome, but series of rejections has reduced expectations.
111  Economy / Speculation / Re: What do you think the size of the FOMO going to be when it starts? on: February 10, 2019, 06:19:29 PM
If I'm correct, you're asking what a what prixe would FOMO set in?
For me, it's above $5k, at this point, many investors would be scrambling to buy in and new investors would also be very interested. It would be a plus if it's a long term build up and not just a rapid spike.
112  Economy / Speculation / Re: Prediction about BTC price!!! on: February 09, 2019, 05:26:53 PM
Some believe cryptocurrency trading is down to sheer luck and it's not possible to predict the price using technical or fundamental analysis.
As an investor, you should not try too hard to speculate on the best time to buy, an understanding of Bitcoin would give you an idea of its potential worth. It's still a prediction, but in the long-term.
113  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Special Guide to keep your Account safe forever (must read) on: February 09, 2019, 04:47:03 PM
...

Protecting your email is very important as that provides an added layer of security to all your accounts on the forum and exchanges linked to your email address.
With access to the registered email you can also lock your account and prevent damage if it ends up in the hands of hackers, while you begin the recovery process.
2FA on bitcointalk does not appear to be in the works yet, although it has been discussed multiple times.
114  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is Bitcoin Mixer? on: February 09, 2019, 04:42:24 PM
I have come across the chipmixer signature multiple times and some of the other bitcoin mixing websites without actually knowing their utility, till this post (great promotion)
It's unique to be able to make transactions which can not be traced and restores user privacy in peer to peer interactions.
115  Economy / Speculation / Re: 🔴 🔴 It's happening! It's happening! It's happening! ⭕ ⭕ on: February 08, 2019, 05:44:20 PM
I have been putting touch with the market for the past hours. This post just made me realize it's a little sea of green right now, it's yet too early to get excited. We are still deep in the bearish trend, this is just an upward movement, it takes a lot more growth and for a longer time to start even a mini-bull run.
116  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Aural version of post to help non-English speaker. on: February 08, 2019, 03:35:19 PM
Audio has been recorded to improve the progress of one trying to learn a new language. Online video games for example helps non-native speakers learn and perfect the English language, it would be a good addition to the fit to talk program. And would bring out the quality posters who are limited by the language barrier.
117  Other / Meta / Re: Nigeria Local Board: Theymos take Note on: February 08, 2019, 01:22:47 PM
I agree that pidgin English is clearly distinct from other English language in different parts.A better route to having a board may be to take @hilariousandco's advise. Starting a thread in 'other languages' entirely with pidgin English if it gets popular, then a plea for a local board can be made.

A local board is not wholely about the different language but the ability of people from a certain region to connect and feel included.
118  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bad Experience with Registration on: February 08, 2019, 01:12:31 PM
How does that help when it's Her/his first time registering?

The user already registered successfully, so I was offered a solution to ensure  him/her do not go through captcha trouble again when logging in on their account. I do not know of any measures for users who are trying to get registered on the forum.
119  Economy / Speculation / Re: How much Bitcoin to accumulate now to be financially set after the next boom? on: February 07, 2019, 05:23:43 PM
Maybe not in the next book, but I predict that in the next four years, one bitcoin would at a point be worth six figures in USD. At that price just a couple of bitcoins would be enough to set one up for life, if they are good at handling money and investments.
120  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bad Experience with Registration on: February 07, 2019, 05:14:12 PM
If you are having reCaptcha issue, you can bypass it using this link. The link would only work for one account.
Captcha is meant to limit the creation of of bot accounts used to spam the forum.
