221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UNO] Unobtanium Info & Discussion - Update to 0.10 Wallet - Merge Mine w/BTC! on: April 08, 2016, 03:33:05 PM
To really clarify the best I can: Yes, it does all simply evaporate by resetting it.
consensus?  a lone wolf can't just reset it.

If you wanted to keep the coins and preserve the blockchain, you'd need to fork the testnet again and then it's no longer UNOs testnet, it becomes Prototanium as an entire new coin. In effect, that does actually just create another cloned premined coin as well. So, not a good idea at all.
good idea or not, it is likely the outcome of this disagreement.  when? not soon ... again Blazr/Hag created both ... if he wishes to resurface from the deep and inform us ... that is welcome ... but forking PR off the testnet ends the debate ... and PR walks off as a "cloned premined coin" and "it lives on in infamy".

...

Maybe this will help:

Forking the testnet is a simple pull-request away, and someone will do it eventually when it's necessary to play with the testnet again (since it is worthless for testing in it's current state, too long and bloated and difficulty too high). If someone wants to keep mining the old testnet at that point, no one can stop them from setting up full nodes to keep it going. We'll just bump the version number and not offer connections to the old testnet.

Of coarse, someone could do that even without a pull request to run a private testnet and that would be fine too.

If you're offering any monetary reward for testnet coins you're simply rewarding the abuse of the testnet. But anyone who needs the testnet probably doesn't care because we can fork it at any time and it's your money to blow.
222  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [MYR] Myriad 0.11.2.0 | 0.11 Upgrade | 1st Multi-PoW | New web site on: April 08, 2016, 02:57:33 PM
Myriad 0.11.2.0 released

Thanks to the hard work of the Myriad team, nzsquirrell in particular, the Myriad code base has been updated to match Bitcoin 0.11.2.

This brings hundreds of fixes and improvements from Bitcoin into Myriad that should provide for a faster and improved wallet.

If you have an existing installation, you might have to run with the -reindex command line option the first time after you upgrade.

See here for more details - https://redd.it/4dpee5

See the OP, website or reddit link for download links.

Great works!

Is there anything mining pool need to aware of?
I read the reddit post, and looks like "backup && -reindex" is enough for upgrade.

But internally, is there any chance of api compatibility break for this upgrade?
Somethings like "listsinceblock" api would not return sorted block list as before due to out of order block saving feature?

The "out of order" retrieval only has to do with how the data is retrieved during the initial blockchain download, the API calls would not be affected by order of blocks.

This link might also provide some insight as to what changes to expect as a miner:

223  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][EXCHANGE] safecex.com - yet another anonymous cryptocoin exchange on: April 07, 2016, 09:13:52 PM
Greetings!

Just wanted to inform you that Myriadcoin has an updated client:

https://www.reddit.com/r/myriadcoin/comments/4dpee5/myriad_0112/

This is NOT a hard-fork, so an update is optional, but the codebase has many performance improvements.

Kind Regards,

can you clarify a bit more about the translation since im not very technical.

The myriadcoin.org page is written in php, a scripting language. In the instance above, all the "case" text is in English, and the return in quotes are Chinese (I think?). If you can edit the return quotes into the language of your choice, looks like MyriadAngel will pay a bounty Smiley

I personally know five people who have sold their Unobtanium because of your presence in the community, and the day I can liquidate the last of the 2,000 that I own/manage, I’ll delete the wallet.

Wait, so you're selling your coins because some douchbag in a tiny pond in the innernet was mean? I fear the price is too high, so many weak hands...  Undecided

So how to create a non-random wallet?

The above link is how to do it, just replace with the text you desire. There is a minimum length that you need (can't remember off-hand). However, don't really do this, this is why you hear so much fuss about how brainwallets are a bad thing. You will undoubtedly get robbed some day.

It works, thanks!  26 chars required. I cant see a reason why it is any weaker than random wallet.

Then don't listen to me.

I'm loving jswallet on Android right now.
One thing I'm not sure of... how to copy the address to clipboard.

On chrome you should be able to hold down on the address link, copy link text in the context menu
231  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Mobile UNO Wallets on: March 22, 2016, 09:51:37 PM
You can even do non-random brainwallets, like:

https://cryptap.us/uno/jswallet/#DoNotStealThisBrainwalletOrYouAreAThief

But that's certainly not recommended.

If you add a password during the creation of the wallet, only part of the hash is saved in the bookmark URL. You will need to supply the full password to unlock it (the javascript checks the full hash of the password to compare a partial match).

KryptoKit did a good job here, no RushWallet has been compromised that I am aware of. To my knowledge, it should be safe to store long term (just keep a copy of the paperwallet site or export the private key in case I disappear some day).

Lets talk mobile wallets for a minute.

...

WHAT ABOUT iOS?
As far as I know, there is no UNO wallet available for iOS (am I right?).

...

Actually, although not a full node type wallet, jswallet runs perfectly well on iOS devices.

https://cryptap.us/uno/jswallet

Cryptapus - the creation on the wallet and the private key is work ofline. When I turn Wi-Fi off my IPad generate the wallet and key offline. So I wondering if i copy this bookmark for the wallet +the key on paper. Is it going to be like paper wallet with better security? I mean this bookmark looks to me like to be used as key plus we have the option to chose key for the wallet itself...that's look like double key with better security than paper wallet? Is that correct or is in my crazy imagination only?....Can we use this to store long term , or It is not appropriate?

Let's look at an example for an explanation:

https://cryptap.us/uno/jswallet/#aXVQ5SaSkFeKnUZHRepwmR8pPb6Jp5

Notice the random characters after the "#". This was generated using the entropy of mouse movements when generating the wallet. "aXVQ5SaSkFeKnUZHRepwmR8pPb6Jp5" is actually a random brainwallet and you can even use a copy of the paperwallet html site to recreate it off-line if you like. jswallet does not send any information back to the host server (all modern browsers ignore anything after "#", or at least the open browsers like chrome and firefox do), so you didn't need to go offline for this (of coarse that's assuming your OS and browser have not been compromised). You can save the bookmark and recall it as you like. This assumes that how you are storing your bookmarks is secure, so don't share your bookmarks Smiley

You can even do non-random brainwallets, like:

https://cryptap.us/uno/jswallet/#DoNotStealThisBrainwalletOrYouAreAThief

Oh BTW, because of our Tx fee discussion I increased my UNO Core transaction fee setting from 0.00001 UNO/Kb to 0.001 UNO/Kb.

I should probably increase it more, I rarely send less than $50 worth of UNO & I am now paying ~$0.0008 instead of ~$0.000008. I can send 1,250 transactions for $1 instead of 125,000 transactions for $1.

Does anyone know what determines the size of a transaction (in kilobytes)?

Size of a transaction is proportional to how many unspent outputs that you are using, and how many addresses you're sending to. So, if someone sent you five 0.1 UNO transactions and you used those to send 0.5 split between two addresses, that would be larger than if you had one 5.0 UNO output being completely spent to one address. You can play with this by using the "coin control" feature to add/remove various unspent outputs to your transactions.

Here is the link the pull request:

Various versions of Abe were actually the first block explorer(s), then I focused on Insight for other purposes (more useful for web-wallets). Insight has some difficulty with AUX-POW, so I restarted my Abe instance. Now I've also fixed many of the issues with Insight that I was observing... So now we have a couple of Insight explorers and my Abe explorer is back. More are welcome Smiley

Electrum-uno has been updated to v2.6.2. Get your latest binaries here:

https://cryptap.us/uno/electrum

This version includes a handy way to tip the electrum-uno-server that you're connected to under "Help"->"Donate to server". Perhaps this will encourage more electrum servers Smiley

A flaw was discovered in binaries created before 03/15/2016. If you have created a NEW seed using 2.6.2 before 03/15/2016, your keys may not be recoverable using the seed in future versions. Please upgrade and create a new wallet, then transfer your funds to that new wallet. I've archived the binaries in question in the "archives" section at the link above in case they ever needed to recover a wallet using this incorrect bip32 implementation. Upgrades from 2.4.4 to the current version after 03/15/2016, or seeds created by 2.4.4, are not affected. The cryptographic security of the keys are not degraded in any way, only the ability to smoothly recover using the seed.
